I host this tour in Higashi Teahouse District, a popular geisha district in Kanazawa. First we visit a geisha house museum. I'd like to share my knowledge about the unknown culture of geisha. Then we spend some time to walk around the district and pop in shops and galleries of traditional local crafts including gold leaf and sake sellers. The tour also includes visiting a nearby shrine, where you can learn how to worship at a Shinto shrine.
I was born and bred in Kanazawa. I'm bilingual (Japanese and English) I self-taught and mastered English and had experience teaching English for nearly 30 years. I gave guided tours to foreign tourists in last 6 years. I'm now working as a tour guide with national guide license. I'm an enthusiastic learner so I keep learning local history and culture. I have a lot of interest in Buddhist statues. I often travel around the country, especially Kyoto and Nara, to visit temples and shrines there. I'm also interested in the culture of geisha. I now work for a geisha museum so I know a lot about the culture better than any other guide. I'm hoping to share my knowledge with my guests from around the world and help them understand our culture.
The tour is mostly taken place in Higashi Teahouse District. "Shima" is a well-known geisha house museum in the district. Another attraction of the district is well-preserved architecture, originally built nearly 200 years ago. At a nearby shrine, you can learn how to worship and enjoy picking English written "Omikuji" paper oracles.
