A hippie’s retreat in the 60’s, Essaouira is now a world-famous surf and kitesurf destination but still has that chilled-out, happy vibe. The town boasts a lovely city beach which is long and wide, making it a great spot if you are just starting out on your surfing journey or are an intermediate surfer. I will collect you in the morning from your hostel or riad before heading to a nice little spot on the beach - I always do my research the night before so know where to go for the best conditions. If you are a complete beginner, we will start off with some ocean awareness and water safety. Then, after a warm up and some practice drills on the beach, we will get into the water and start working on techniques to get you standing up on your board, catching waves and most importantly - having fun! If you want, I can also take some photos of you surfing and send you them to you afterwards.
Hi, we are Soufiane & Youssef - the Surfari Essaouira team! Born in Essaouira, this is where we learned to surf from a young age so we know all the best spots! We’ve also been teaching surfing now for 8 years. We’re very passionate about the sport and love meeting new people and helping them experience that thrill of getting out in the water and catching some waves. We offer surf lessons and trips in Essaouira and the surrounding regions. These are designed to suit all needs, so whether you’re a complete beginner or a more advanced surfer we would love to help you progress. We are both certified instructors (International Surfing Association) and are qualified in First Aid and water safety. We speak Arabic, English & French. A trip to Essaouira is not complete without catching some waves so come and join us for a magic day on the water!

We will spend our morning (or afternoon if you prefer) on Essaouira's sandy beach. The entire bay is protected by the Island of Mogador and spans a full 180 degrees. Where we will surf depends on the swell size - if it is big we surf nearer to the port and when it is small we will go to the other end of the beach near the lighthouse.
