Join me in my art studio in glorious Jervis Bay where we will make a felted vessel or sculpture using soft, colourful wool fibres. Over 3 hours I will show you the magical processes of wet felting. We will use a "resist" to make your vessel by wrapping it in luxurious fibres. I will show you how to decorate the surface of your vessel, then use the wet felting method to turn all those loose fibres into a textile. The magic really happens when we remove the resist and turn a flat textile into a 3D object! I will share with you some of the secrets of working with and sculpting wool fibres, from how to layout your fibres, to shrinkage and high-quality finishing. In my studio I provide a wide range of materials and colours that you can combine in your vessel. Everything you need is right here, including skin-friendly olive oil soap that we use to "fuse" the fibres - and some lovely hand cream to restore your hands when we're finished. Your one-of-a-kind bowl can be used for trinkets or jewellery on your bedside table, or even hang it on the wall! Keep it yourself or give it as a gift to someone special.
I’m an artist working with fibre and textiles to create sculptures, wall hangings and wearables - mostly in felt. I exhibit annually with the group, untethered fibre artists inc in regional galleries around Australia. I love to teach people the unique qualities of wool and silk fibres, how they can be blended and moulded into incredible objects such as vessels and scarves. Felt is an ancient and magical textile that has modern applications in the home, on the body and as art! I am thrilled to share my passion for fibre arts here at Dwell Studios.

These workshops take place in my special felting studio at Dwell Studios. My working studio is fully stocked with all the fibre and textile supplies we need to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind vessels. You can choose from a wide variety of wool fibres in many colours, silk fibres, some fabrics and other surface design embellishments. In this light, clean and airy studio you will be comfortable and creative at the same time.
Please wear clothing that can get a little bit wet, but no apron or protective clothing is required
Wet felting can make your clothes damp when excess water runs off the table. Most people find it easier to felt while standing up, so I recommend comfortable shoes such as sneakers.
