What is a mala and how is it used, you ask? How would you even make one? We'll start the intermediate mala class in my studio with some very interesting history about the age, meanings and personal intentions of the gemstones and different styles of mala beads. Together we will select your beads for the project by color or intention, learn about traditional knotting styles, beaded tassels and how to do them. A lot of the fun is just in picking out your bead colors, sizes and their meanings. Laying out the design comes next and then we start stringing, knotting and having fun. Each of you will get a descriptive handout on how to make a mala that you can take home with you along with your new mala. I will be beading right alongside of you so you have a visual guide for every step. Afterwards, feel free to take a walk creekside along our meditation path at Poplar Creek Farm. You can sign up solo, as a couple or as a group of friends.
