Participants will be introduced to the basics of linoleum block printing as well as the necessary tools and techniques. Participants will learn how to create a mould from an image using a linoleum block and how to print. Each participant can choose to either work with a suitable image (something personal that they can bring along to the workshop) or choose one of many from the workshop selection. After that, participants will learn how to transfer the image onto the linoleum and create the printing block with the tools provided. When the printing block is ready, participants will learn how to prepare their work area and start printing. For this session, we will be using standard printing ink and paper. After a maximum of 5 runs, the prints will be left to dry and while waiting, we can clean and dry the printing block/s. At the end of the session, participants can bring home their prints as well as the printing block, for further use or simply as a keepsake.
Hello I am a designer, visual artist and educator with 12+ years industry experience. Aside from my design and artistic practices, I also teach/lecture at the local art/design schools, across different levels. Over time, I realised how much I enjoy being creative as well as sharing what I know with my students and I'm keen to explore how I can make the creative learning experience more accessible to the community at large. So I started Palm Ruang, an experimental creative workshop in my home studio with an aim to connect the community to DIY crafts, as a way to discover their creative self.
Participants will be greeted with a Palm Ruang welcome drink!
We will conduct our workshop in a cosy, well-maintained home studio in the outskirts of the city. In the studio, participants can also view selected works on display in the gallery.
