Guests have to option to meet at our office in Troutdale, or to meet in downtown Portland where we will pick up wetsuits and boards. We'll drive out to the coast (1.5 hours), enjoying the scenery as we pass through the lush Tillamook State Forest. From the parking area it is a short walk through coastal forest to reach the secluded beach. After suiting up, your guide will review surfing basics on the beach- practicing placement and technique- then it's time to hit the waves! Your guide will be with you every step of the way, providing pointers and coaching to help you catch your first wave. After a few hours of surfing, we will break on the beach for a healthy lunch. The afternoon will include your choice of another surf session, or relaxation on the beach before we head back to Portland. Feel free to bring beers or other snacks, but please consume responsibly if you plan on continuing to surf!
I am the Director of Rare Earth Adventures, a guide service that has been bringing visitors on incredible adventures in the PNW for 13 years. Myself, along with my guides Cody, Misha, and Daven are all Wilderness First Responder certified, and safety remains at the forefront on all of our adventures. Your surf guides, Misha and Cody, grew up on the beaches in Oregon, learning to ride waves from a young age. Their patience, extensive knowledge, teaching ability, and passion for the ocean is apparent as they interact with guests and share their love.

This trip is designed for any level of surfer, no experience required! The beach can be breezy and the water chilly, even in the summer, so bring a few layers!
