LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is super busy and crowded with people!
My tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya and Shinjuku and is less touristy. It is also famous with Japanese foodies for good quality at lower prices. I'm going to take you to popular bars and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order signature dishes, and we will discuss the food and drink (and you can pepper me with questions).
We will visit 3 restaurants/taverns, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks (4 or more different type of drinks) and you'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals. At the end of the tour, I will take you to the entrance of each train line at Ueno station, depending on where you need to go.

We are going to have a full-size meal on the day in several different restaurants included ramen, which means you will pay around $90 ALTOGETHER included RAMEN! (Tour fee and you will pay for meals and drinks since 2nd one)

I lived in overseas for 11 years and managed a Japanese bar, explaining Sake and JP Whisky taste to Aussies. Everyone goes to Shinjuku where is good to go to luxury restaurants. However, reasonable & nice taste ones don't exist. (Rent is very high, so it's impossible!)That's why I pick this area because here is famous for Japanese foodie as lower price, but good quality!

I enjoyed this experience so much when I was in Tokyo in 2019 that I booked it for a second time when I returned with a friend in 2020, and I was just as impressed! Akira is a fantastic guide and a great person to be around. He is always looking to improve the experience for his guests -- two of the locations we went to this time were different than my last experience because Akira wanted to ensure the best quality of the food and drink. If I come back to Tokyo for a third time, I would not hesitate to meet up with Akira once again!

Aki was so kind and accommodating when we had to bow out of our initial tour date as I got sick. He arranged for us to take the tour a few days later once I was better. We had such a lovely time getting to know about local Japanese food and drinking culture. We visited multiple restaurants and pubs and had a huge variety of drinks and yummy eats. My husband is very picky about his food and Aki made sure that everything worked for his diet. I totally recommend this tour if you like to eat like a local and get a little tipsy on some amazing delicious drinks as well!

Aki is a wonderful host. He will take you to three local restaurants, each with different food and drink. He is happy to answer all questions.
Aki was very helpful with any food allergies too! Be wary though, a variety of food will be put in front of you, and if you don't have an adventurous taste you might leave hungry!
