After sun down, the city comes alive with colour, light, and stunning photo opportunities. The experience is personal, and intimate, with a small group, to ensure you get the most out of the tour. Are you looking for the best spots in Amsterdam to capture some breath taking night shots? Would you like to hone your skills in long exposure photography using a tripod? Do you want to learn more about exposure, aperture, ISO, composition, shutter speed and shooting in low light? Do you want to shoot fully manual in order to get the most out of your camera? Or are you just travelling with a point-and-shoot/phone camera, and want to experience the city at night? If so, this will be a great tour for you! We will meet up at Central Station, and wander through the 15th century Wallen (red light district) before heading through the canal belt and out to the West of the city. I never cease to be amazed by the beauty of Amsterdam at night, and I am excited to share the secrets of the city with you on a relaxed and informal photo tour, encompassing the true highlights, and hidden gems, that Amsterdam has to offer.
I have 3x tripods available for you to use - please let me know, in advance, if you would like to borrow one for the tour
Welcome to the original Amsterdam Night Photography tour! I am a photographer from the UK, and have been living in Amsterdam for 17 years. I know the city inside out, and am always looking for the best locations and compositions the city has to offer. I specialise in low light photography, mainly on landscape, and am regularly featured by the Amsterdam tourist board (iamsterdam) as well as many major instagram hubs. You can check out some of my photos here: https://www.instagram.com/eddie_amsterdam/ Amsterdam comes alive after sunset, and I look forward to showing you the best night compositions the city has to offer.
We meet at Central Station, and then head off into the Wallen (red light district) to shoot some of Amsterdam's most pristine architectural exhibits. From medieval to renaissance architecture, the red light is visually stunning at night, and offers some fantastic photo opportunities. Moving on, we wander through the predominantly 17th century canal district, looking for reflection compositions, incorporating light streaks from the passing boats.
