Just booked in Poughkeepsie

Sleep staring at stars! Featured in The New York Times, The Today Show & called by Forbes "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House," the Hudson Valley Glass House is a magical getaway. Just 90 mins from NYC, but a world away. 30 acres of rolling hills give total privacy and isolation as glass walls open up onto endless views of vineyards, orchards, & wildlife (spy coyote, deer, & amazing birds!). Modern comforts (WiFi, A/C & a loaded kitchen) keep you from feeling like you've given anything up.
Hi! If you're thinking of booking, please message me first to confirm, and also please read the entire listing to the end as it likely answers any questions you may have... Welcome to The Glass House. Come see why Forbes called it "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House" and called an "off-grid oasis" on The Today Show. Sleep staring at the stars and feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house (just 180 square feet!) retreat, just 90 minutes from NYC, but a world's away. This is a truly special place, and most people find it surprising that it can exist so close to New York. With all sorts of wildlife coming within inches of the house (don't be surprised if you see coyotes, families of deer, and every type of bird you could imagine), this is a truly immersive experience into nature. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside. The listing includes: -A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards -Lots of privacy on a 30-acre farm. -Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit that you can definitely grill on. -A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress and insanely comfortable pillows -A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating. -A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven. -Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the real world and streaming shows on your personal devices. Also note that while the house is tiny and has a maximum occupancy of two people, I am sometimes able to accommodate larger parties for those bringing tents and willing to camp outside. Please inquire about pricing for such scenarios. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: Can I get to the house without a car? A: The house is about 25-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber JUST launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a rural area that is not particularly walkable. Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer? A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with basic toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is very rare). Q: Is this house really off the grid? A: Yep! It features solar panels for power, a propane HVAC system for heating and air-conditioning, and a unique dry-flush toilet (more on that in the "Other Things To Note" section below). One exception: You absolutely have working Wi-Fi. Q: How will I receive the key? A: The house features a keyless entry system with a code that lasts as long as your stay. This allows for effortless check-in and entry. Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at my reviews—I think you'll find my guests agree! Q: What's up with the cleaning fee? A: I get a lot of questions about this, so I'll just break it down so you understand why it is what it is: All but $10 of that goes directly to my cleaner. She is a professional who does a great job and who I insist on compensating fairly for her work. The dry-flush toilet cartridges cost me about $20 apiece, so the remaining $10 lets me split that cost with guests. (Of course, if you happen to use more than one cartridge, I cover that cost alone). Q: What's my total booking price? A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this. Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking? A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free, please inquire and I'll try! It depends on whether my cleaning crew can spring into action at the last-minute, which isn't a sure thing. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask. One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Don't throw rocks at glass houses!!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
The Glass House is situated on a 30-acre farm in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. Guests have total privacy, but are joined on the farm by the main farm house and a smaller residence with live-in caretakers that can help out in case of an emergency. Around the farm are views of rolling vineyards and apple orchards—many of which are absolutely worth a visit. Downtown Marlboro is minutes away and has a few nightlife and dining options, and the hopping town of Beacon (home of the Dia; Beacon) is about 25 minutes away. Storm King Art Center (a must) is also about 30 minutes away. Also near: New Paltz, Cold Spring Poughkeepsie, and countless other Hudson Valley gems.
  • This place may be tiny, but the effect on the psyche is huge. It was the perfect quick escape from the frenetic pace of city life.

  • We had the most magical weekend at Seth's. For 2 city dwellers who are not really cut out for camping, this was the perfect way to experience nature in all of its peace and privacy and glory without having to rough it in the least. We took the train up from NYC Friday afternoon - as Seth mentions, it's only about 25 minutes from the Beacon station - and took a taxi from the station, which was super easy. We were completely blown away by the peaceful and beautiful experience offered by the tiny glass house. The pictures can't even convey how stunning the views are and how incredible it is to wake up surrounded by nature on all sides. There is an amazing farm/grocery store nearby where we did all our shopping on Seth's recommendation and we also got eggs from the farm! We had the most amazing time cooking (the induction stove really is genius) and eating outside at the fire pit. Every little thing in the tiny glass house is so thoughtful, from the coffee press to the speakers to the books left for reading in the perfect bed nook (which is incredibly comfortable and fit my 6'2 boyfriend no problem!). We thought we would cozy up and watch our favorite shows all weekend, but we ended up spending most of the time just laying in bed looking out onto the view and it could not have been lovelier. I can't recommend Seth's place enough! It truly is the perfect retreat.

  • Honestly, what can I say about Seth’s tiny house? It is pure magic. Everything about our stay from booking to check in and check out was seamless, with Seth responding to any and all questions we had within seconds. That was greatly appreciated. Check-in went smoothly, and any and all directions/instructions about the listing were emailed prior to our stay. Nicely done! The listing was impeccably clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed at our disposal (bed linens, towels, shower toiletries, kitchen pots and pans as well as utensils, etc). The house was perfect to cook meals in and sit by the window for a beautiful view of nature. The air conditioner worked perfectly, and the bed is beyond comfortable. The World-fi is super quick and there were no internet glitches. The outdoor lounge seating area and fire pit were an amazing addition. You truly feel like your completely engulfed by nature; helping you to completely disconnect and live in the moment. We were able to sit out at night with a nice fire going, taking in the fresh air and sounds of nature while star gazing. Changing the liner to the toilet was beyond easy and took seconds. We stayed for two evenings, but will definitely be booking again but for three evenings instead. There are not enough words I could use to describe just how amazing this listing is. Beyond happy that we found it, and cannot wait to come back for another stay. Thank you again Seth for being such an amazing host!

  • We've had a great stay at Seth's tiny house in the beacon area! The location is beautiful. On our first night, just after checking in we saw a coyote and a group of deer. They came up close to cabin, pretty amazing. From the house we visited DIA Beacon and did the Breakneck Ridge Hike. Aside from that we just relaxed near the house, read books and had some really good nights sleep in the super comfortable bed. Seth has been a great host, responding to out questions fast and giving some great tips for our stay. Highly recommended. Thanks Seth!

  • My stay at the Glass house was amazing. Seth was extremely responsive and helpful with my questions. Would definitely return for another weekend away!

  • The glass house is easily one of my favorite little places to stay. The view is beautiful, the house is very clean, accessible, and pleasant. I slept so beautifully and felt comfortable cooking and lighting a fire. The place is so well cared for that it's a very comfortable and homey place to stay. Seth was an excellent host who was readily available and easy to get in touch with when it was necessary. I loved staying in this little house and can't wait to come back.

  • What a treat! My goal was to have an outdoor experience that was easier and more convenient than camping. We have been thinking about purchasing a camper or high-low so we wanted to test out a tiny house. I thank my lucky stars, (you'll see a lot of them at the tiny glass house while you are outside AND inside) that we found this place! The bed is super comfortable and we slept very well. At night, you can't see the glass, but you can see the stars!!!! This was fantastic. There is enough storage for a long weekend. The kitchen is stocked with necessary equipment and everything is easy to use. The shower is roomy and everything is very clean and new. The dry toilet is easy to use and odor free. The location on the back end of the farm is ideal. We were able to fully relax and unplug from the busy world. This is a great place to clear your head. We enjoyed the fresh eggs daily and loved observing the chickens. The area has many farms and wineries and the views are outstanding. The tiny glass house is very comfortable and I am 6'1". I had plenty of room in the bed and shower. Seth does a great job of explaining all of the details of the tiny glass house and of giving suggestions about the area. To be honest, I was sad to leave this cool, modern and awesome nature retreat. We'll be back.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Seth's tiny house for our 1 year anniversary! The house was luxurious and secluded on a gorgeous plot of farm land. The bed was cozy and was perfect for a 2 night stay. Seth was so prompt in communicating with us, and was very attentive to our needs! Would highly recommend this place.

We are conveniently located within a 10 minute WALK from the Poughkeepsie Train Station and the historic Walkway over the Hudson! Our three family home is nestled in the Little Italy district of the City of Poughkeepsie - Appropriately there is no shortage of Italian bakeries or Italian restaurants in our neighborhood! Four restaurants (Amici's, Milanese, Cosimo's and Emiliano's) and two bakeries (La Deliziosa and Cafe Aurora) to be exact, all within WALKING distance! Good food is definitely not hard to come by in our neck of the woods. WALK on down to the Poughkeepsie waterfront... Dine inside or al fresco overlooking the beautiful Hudson River at the River Station Restaurant. Make sure you try one of the five delicious soups, homemade daily or pop into the historic Ice House on the Hudson for some of their yummy eats! Maybe you're just in the mood to cozy up next to a fire and enjoy a delicious glass of wine? Well then WALK down the street and around the corner to the Nic'L Inn. The ambience and artfully crafted menu never disappoints but be careful because their complimentary fried spaghetti can be addictive. Obviously we enjoy introducing people to our favorite neighborhood spots but lets not take away the fact that your journey to Poughkeepsie is just the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Located within 20 +/- minutes to the Village of New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Beacon, Breakneck Ridge (Hiking), Millbrook and multiple Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries, Orchards and attractions in Historic Hyde Park. No matter the season, no matter the reason, our home is a great place to begin your journey.!
  • Really good space. Everything you need and then some! Walking distance to everything we needed, close to marist college and the train station.

  • Robert and Regina were excellent hosts and supplied us with lots of additional info about where to go and what to do in Poughkeepsie. The apartment was really clean and well decorated. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • A perfect place for two! Tidy and well decorated, it's a cozy home away from home. Make sure to grab coffee in town and walk the bridge over the Hudson.

    Cara2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised...good host, good accommodations, good restaurants close by... and not to far off the beat'in path. The best part...they'll leave the light on for you too...

    Chip2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Regina's space has everything you would need to land and prepare food. A couple of things I would keep in mind: it's close to the train tracks and the trains run all night, it's an older building so you will hear people above and around you including laundry noise and smell.

    Dan2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • So great!!!

    Sam2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Super close to train station, $4 a day parking on street near station, not really walkable from house. Super comfy bed! 1 hour to Warwick.

    Michael2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Regina's place was very warm and welcoming! It had everything provided that you would need for a vacation. The place was very clean and organized just as pictured. The location is great for the area, very close to everything you would need. All in all, I had a great experience at this apartment and would recommend it!

  • Casa del Arte is beautiful, cozy and artistic. The room is like a studio of your own, super clean and with a beautiful view of the woods. Elisa had so much attention to every detail and made us feel at home. We were about a 10 min drive to restaurants and hiking trails, about 30 min from DIA:Beacon and different vineyards. A perfect place to spend a few days exploring the Hudson Valley and relax.

    Barbara2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing and interestingly built home! Rob & Elisa were wonderful and accommodating to our family! Even when we "blew a breaker" getting ready for a wedding, everything was back in order when we returned. Eclectic Space, Gracious Hosts, Talented Artists.

  • We had a fantastic, quick stay at Rob and Elisa's! Elisa was happy to accommodate our tight schedule, and Rob made sure to catch us on our way out to say goodbye. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with private bath and a coffee maker ready to brew next morning's cup. We only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful fall weather in this lovely part of the Hudson Valley!

  • We had a nice stay in highland. Close to some cider tasting and brewries. Even a mini golf!! It was really quite.

    Catherine2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • The home is such a lovely and different space to stay in. My friend and I stayed here to get out of the city for a couple days and explore Beacon, New Paltz, and Poughkeepsie and loved having this space to rest and recharge in. Elisa welcomed us warmly and gave so many lovely suggestions to enjoy while we were there. Amazing space and highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy the area and stay in a unique and beautiful space.

  • Troy was communicative from the moment we booked with him - making sure we knew how and when to reach him and check in. When we arrived, he was welcoming and extremely hospitable. His two lovely dogs made us feel right at home. Our accommodations were great and it was wonderful to meet and talk to a "local" who clearly loves and gives back to his community. The Vanderbilt Mansion tour is not to be missed! He was more than accommodating on our morning of departure (we had to get up early and leave late) and his culinary skills and cultural heritage were on full display for the delicious Norwegian breakfast he served. Thank you Troy - we learned a lot and will want to come back for more.

    Carol2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • A visit at Troy's home is perhaps the best sort of AirBnb experience to strive for. He has a beautifully curated home in a lovely part of New York State (Dutchess County, right by the Vanderbilt Estate). The house is a visual delight. His two golden dogs are warm and complete sweethearts for a pat. The Scandinavian room was lovely, especially if you prefer a bit of privacy. It has it's own bathroom. Troy is a generous and graciously kind host who treats you not just as a guest but a visiting friend. The Norwegian breakfast was a real treat, and provides a chance to mingle with the other guests. Visiting with Troy felt more like an experience than just an overnight stay. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we'll be planning another visit up soon.

    Jennifer2015-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The most amazing host and accommodations of all times. Troy was enthusiastic, carrying and innovative. He treated us to amazing breakfast and dinner. It was truly on of a kind experience. Highly recommend!

  • Highly recommend staying with Troy, you'll be very surprised by his genuine hospitality. Thanks again!

    Bonnie2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Troy is the host with the most! My parents and I had a splendid weekend in Hyde Park. Troy's Scandinavian home is really something special. I hadn't slept so good in weeks, and the Norwegian breakfast is to die for. Troy has rightfully earned the Superhost status for his prompt response time as well as the attention he provides his guests leading up to and during their stay. Troy makes everyone feel right at home and like a long lost friend. He even took the time to show us around the Vanderbilt gardens. We look forward to staying here again and cannot recommend it enough to others.

    Matt2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very negative experience in several ways. We originally opted for the basement room because it was the only room available with a private bath. First, the temperature in the basement bedroom was very cold and when requested to increase the heat, the host indicated that we should find alternative accommodations. We found this to be a rude and insensitive comment. Second, Troy was very intrusive in his interaction with his guests. While the breakfast food was excellent, Troy seemed intent on dominating the conversation around the breakfast table. This was very annoying to us. Finally, the two dogs living in the house were very noisy and somewhat aggressive at first, although they did settle down after a while. We left after the first night of a scheduled three night stay.

    Gayle2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Troy made us feel like family. He was so welcoming and warm. He served us wonderful Scandinavian breakfasts very morning that were spectacular with recipes and ideas to take home. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

    Betty2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful second-time stay with Troy. This time we brought our friends and Troy was extremely generous in throwing a BBQ party in his beautiful garden. The breakfast was fabulous and such a treat. His house is always such a pleasure to stay in, with Scandinavian furniture and tastefully decorated. Hope to go back again! Very highly recommended.

POUGHKEEPSIE: Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. A historic industrial port city, Poughkeepsie is currently going through an exciting resurgence, characterized by a grassroots local food movement, farm-to-table restaurants, and a number of revitalization projects, including the renowned Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest pedestrian bridge spanning the width of Hudson River. The Walkway connects the Dutchess County and Ulster County rail trails, making Poughkeepsie a destination for bike enthusiasts. Vassar College and the city’s south side also make for wonderful bike routes with cute residential streets, historic homes, and lots of trees. We love Poughkeepsie for its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum, from its pristine college campuses to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Poughkeepsie is an exciting place with a unique energy, and an ideal home base for experiencing the rest of the Historic Hudson Valley. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Gray Street, where the guest house is located, is a residential, tree-lined street in a transitioning neighborhood 5 minutes from Vassar College. The neighborhood is a blend of everything from young entrepreneurs, academics, government workers, tradespeople and low income families. The guest house sits across from Forbus Butternut Park, a 1-acre greenspace overseen by a local non-profit. There is a church on the other side of the park, and the Poughkeepsie High School and football field is about 2 blocks away. During the day, kids sometimes play in the street, but for the most part it's very quiet since Gray Street isn’t a major thoroughfare. AROUND THE REGION: Because Poughkeepsie is centrally located, it makes for a great jumping off point to explore the rest of the Hudson Valley region. Towns like Beacon, New Paltz, Rosendale, Millbrook, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck are all within an easy drive with lots of things to see along the way. Hudson, The Catskills, Cold Spring, Phoenicia and the Berkshires all make for wonderful day trips – full of meandering country drives, antiquing, hiking, fishing, wine-tasting, museum-hopping, or cooling off in a swimming hole. I run a blog that’s dedicated to travel, food and culture in the region called An Upstate of Mind, and I’m happy to send along recommendations for our favorite spots tailored around whatever you like to do. The surrounding Upstate NY towns are lovely, but to make for a full day, it’s sometimes good to combine a few destinations into a “mini road trip” that lets you soak in the local flavor and experience the sprawling natural settings the Hudson Valley is known for.
  • Seth's guest house in Poughkeepsie was a great home base for both exploring the Hudson Valley and for our Saturday morning class at the CIA. His recommendations for restaurants, including the Mill Street Brewing Company in downtown, and towns to visit in the area made for an easy weekend without having to do a lot of research and preparation ourselves. The house itself, while a work in progress, is an inspiration for what these older houses can become.

    Carrie2014-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Guest House was perfect! My sister & I stayed for 5 days as we helped my daughter get settled at Marist. The location was close enough so we could drive over quickly to a variety of places. The house was really lovely, fully appointed with everything you'd need to make yourself at home. It was very comfortable & enjoyable. They have a very interesting collection of books and memorabilia as well as super internet access. We enjoyed using the Netflix and thankfully the A/C worked well because the temperatures were positively roasting! Seth sent us some great suggestions of things to do & places to eat & visit, which we took advantage of and were not disappointed. So all in all, we were very pleased with our stay. Hopefully we'll be able to stay there for future visits to see my daughter. Thanks Seth!!

  • I used Seth's apartment to house family when they came to visit me in the Hudson Valley. We were looking for a space that my 87- year old grandmother could retire to when the trip became overwhelming. My family was stunned upon arriving. The unit was clean, spacious and impeccably decorated. The kitchen was well appointed for my grandmother's early morning rise for coffee and meditation, and the small library peeked my mother's interest. Both proved difficult to tempt away, but were well rested for exploration up and down the valley. This apartment was one of the nicest and best run I have ever seen. My family thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and loved their stay.

  • My wife and son had a wonderful time at Seth's apartment. They found it well equipped and comfortable, exactly as listed. Excellent host!

  • This place is gorgeous. Healthy plants all around, nice sitting areas and wall decor. We had an amazing time! Seth was our own personal tour guide and sent us a great list of things to do in the area. We did as much as we could during our x-mas weekend. He was so communicative and responsive. It snowed then rained so he came by to put salt down. So sweet! Getting the key was seamless. Because of him we are already planning our next trip. We took Amtrak up and used the cabbie Seth recommended, Khalid. He was awesome! Honest about his arrival times, opened the door for us, quiet and his car was spacious and clean. We went to Frida's and Henry's in Milton (on the list), so good. Overall - fantastic host, stylish apartment, great recommendations, tasty food. Thank you!

  • We stayed at the Artist Apartment for two nights while visiting our son at Vassar College. The apartment was entirely lovely. It's clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The mattress was firm, which was really nice. The kitchen and dining area were pretty spacious, and the layout allows us to cook dinner for our son and a couple of his friends. Seth was a very gracious host. He gave clear and thorough instruction about the house, and intensive information about Poughkeepsie and surrounding area. We were also grateful that the air condition worked really well because it was in the 90's when we were there! Thank you Seth for having such a great place, really made our visit so pleasant.

  • Seth deserves every bit of his "Super Host" accolade. He has an AMAZING appreciation of the area and provided us with fantastic suggestions for how to enjoy the Hudson Valley and all that it has to offer.

    Mary2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Seth was very accommodating, especially to a last minute request! Place is very nice and comfortable. The kitchen was a real treat to cook in, and was stocked with everything we needed. Enjoyed the stay here very much!

  • We had completely wonderful and unique experience at Troy's. Enjoyed great conversations at breakfast and learnt so much about his Norwegian culture. I personally was mesmerized by his reservoir of knowledge and interests, while my partner was smitten by Ella and Annie. Thank you so much Troy. We look forward to being in touch and knowing you more over our next few visits and be rest assured that will happen soon.

  • The most amazing host, space, and experience. We love coming back to Troy. Troy thank you so much for everything

    Yana2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Troy is an incredible, fun and knowledgable host! There's plenty to do and see in the area, but even just for the breakfast I would highly recommend anyone to come and stay at Troy's. His passion for the Norwegian lifestyle will lift up your mood, the dogs are adorable, the furnishing in the house looks straight out of a magazine spread, and I learned so much during my short stay. Next time I'd definitely plan a longer trip!

    Catherine2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay, with great food and an extremely generous and friendly host! So wonderful that we extended our stay... see below for my review!

    Mari2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb experiences I've had yet! Troy was so welcoming and made us feel at home the minute we walked in the door. The place was clean, quiet and cozy! The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Troy was also very helpful in giving us ideas for things to do in the area which made our stay in Hyde Park that much better. Highly recommend booking with Troy if it want an escape from the city in a place full of history and beauty :)

    James2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Troy's. His home is very interestingly decorated, the neighborhood very scenic and the breakfast a reason in itself to come visit. Troy was extremely accommodating and welcoming and helped us plan our tours through Hyde Park and beyond. Thanks again!

    Steffen2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience. Troy is so kind and knowledgeable about all the historic places in the area and obviously loves living there. He even took us on a tour. Room was so comfortable! And his breakfast? Extraordinary! Delicious! Highly recommend!!!! Thank you Troy!

    Helen2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Troy's hospitality is beyond compare. The house is impeccably clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The Nordic 3-course breakfast and Troy's garden expertise and personal recommendations for local food and activities makes this a truly special destination. We'll be back!

  • Clean, comfortable home; attentive host who worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly

    Lauren2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Van is a professional with a lot to offer.

    Anthony2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • I spent two nights here and although I didn't actually meet Van everything went very smoothly and I was impressed by the little welcoming touches - spare toiletries and a bottle of wine.

  • good location. thoughtful host.

    Barbara2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very gracious welcome and pleasing environment. My brother who's worked with houses a lot exclaimed "My god, this place is lovely!" when we walked in, later noted details he liked. Van left us a bottle of berry wine which we never got to drink and some nibbles. Bed was wonderfully soft.

    Jim2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay here. The bed was comfortable, room was clean, wine was delicious, Van responded very quickly to messages, and parking is right at the house. Definitely recommend and would stay here again.

  • Van is great and so is his place. He is always available. His place is very clean, quiet and comfortable. I am using his place as a residence for three weeks because I am in-between addresses. A great value compared to a hotel/motel. I would stay here again. A great find.

  • Rob and Regina were great hosts. They recommended a number of places to check out in the area. The apartment is perfect for one or two people. It's an easy walk from there to parks, restaurants, and the Walkway across the Hudson bridge. A short trip to other cute and historic towns by car or train. I'd definitely stay there again.

    Julia2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • R&R were great! So thoughtful in sharing their space with us and giving us local tips. Would definitely stay here again!

    Jordan2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to Robert & Regina for their hospitality. Their instructions/directions are on point. Added to the great experience we had in Poughkeepsie! Everything was as expected or better. Thoughtful and practical. I highly recommend!

    Ramsey2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
Alles in allem: sehr gut.

    Anne2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was an unusually hot weekend and Robert went out to get window air conditioners. Very nice! Also the shower has incredible pressure. Loved it. They were nice enough to have organic half and half and stevia for the coffee. This place is highly recommended

    Pauline2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was immaculate, the design was beautiful and communication with Regina and Robert was great. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

    Amanda2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised, good communication, very cosy little place. This was a good stop-over for us on our way to visit the Hyde Park sites.

    Carolyn2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I came up to visit her brother, who's a student at the CIA in Hyde Park. While in the area, we also visited the Vanderbilt Mansion, FDR's home and library, and Eleanor Roosevelt's home. Robert and Regina's place was super convenient, since their place and all the places we visited were on or near Route 9. Also, their place was a short walk to the Walkway Over the Hudson.

Upstairs bedroom in private 2 family home. Large bonus walk in closet/dressing room
The upstairs room is private and off set. The room has a separate entrance with a 42 inch screen tv, DVD player, and sitting area. There is also a bottle of wine and snacks waiting for you.
Quiet private street close to metro north, walkway over the Hudson, serval colleges and Vassar hospital. Also close to all major shopping and sinking options in the area.
  • Very nice location, right off the main highway so easy to get around town. Room was very clean and organized!

  • I've made a few reservations with Van and he was very accommodating with check ins and check outs. All in all, this is a great place of stay. Thanks for everything, Van.

    Paul2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Family Friendly, quiet and clean. Van is easily accessible at all hours and is willing to go the extra mile for a guests comfort. 10/10 experience.

    Marcus2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Clean kitchen with shared bathroom.

    Joan2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Check in was very convenient. Old place fixed up very nicely. Quiet but close enough to walk to nightlife and central Poughkeepsie. Plenty of parking space. Comfortable and great night of sleep.

    William2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • All in all the listing and photos are accurate. Van provided as described. Figuring out keys was a little annoying, but minor. The room we stayed in was on the second floor. The third floor is occupied by a long term tenant. Unfortunately we stayed on a night where our upstairs neighbor was "getting lucky" and the walls were thin. I could make out what songs were playing, how rickety our neighbors bed was, and how vocal they are while they had their fun. Unfortunately this kept me up through the night. If I were to isolate this incident from my overall experience I would say my stay was fair.

    Ceasar2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Van seems like a really nice host, but unfortunately the room was not well cleaned and there was no heating in the apartment except for a space heater in the room that made a loud obnoxious noise. I left two days early as the apartment was nothing like it was described and was disappointed that Van would not refund the cleaning fee despite the state of the apartment. There were unfinished renovations happening and screws lying on the ground in the bathroom. This is a bargain price, but was still not worth the saving.

    Thatcher2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Van's place was great! It's a very easy 15 minute walk from the Poughkeepsie train station, making it ideal for folks seeking a quiet weekend getaway. Everything matched the description, and check in and check out were both very easy processes.

The initial price is for one person per day. There is $10 fee for a second person. The full bathroom is shared but is directly next to the private bedroom. Food or meals are not provided. It is expected that travelers utilize the local restaurants/take out options. Please do not hesitate to ask us recommend a place to eat.
The bedroom is downstairs near the bathroom in a cape cod style house. It is separate and private from the other bedroom in the home. Please open or close the bedroom windows as needed/desired. The linens and towels are always freshly laundered. The room size is roughly 11'x11'. Due to past issues, we ask that you do not eat in the bed. Feel free to use our dining room table though. The room can be set up for one traveler, two travelers with separate twin beds or for two travelers with king size bed.
It is a quiet neighborhood in the City of Poughkeepsie. It is a very safe area that has sidewalks street lamps so you can walk any where at any time. http://vacationidea.com/destinations/best-things-to-do-in-the-hudson-valley.html
  • Brooke and Ryan have created a very welcoming place and were very accommodating when I needed to change my reservation. The room had a well stocked guest basket with 2 bath towels, a hand towel and a washcloth, a bottle of water, lint brush, shampoo, hand cream, toothbrush and toothpaste, and a host of other items. The place was very clean and within an easy drive to Vassar.

    Leslie2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Brooke & Ryan's home was just as described but even more comfortable, private, safe and clean. Brooke & Ryan went above and beyond to accommodate us. We appreciated their hospitality and communication. If you are a reader they have a nice selection of books. We would definitely go back.

    Rick2016-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • The residence was as described, gorgeous and homely with essentials at my disposal. Ryan's warm smile and hospitality made me feel at home and welcome. The bed was well laid with warm blankets and I had more than enough pillows to sleep comfortably. I would definitely recommend the elephant room to future guests.

    Winfred2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Welcome was friendly. Brooke and Ryan are a nice couple. Neighborhood is fine and quiet, parking lot on drive way available.

    Jouko2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Brooke has a lovely house and is a welcoming host--she left a welcome note in the room and a basket filled with basic necessities. The accommodation met my needs and the futon was comfortable to sleep in. It is about a 15 minute walk to the edge of Vassar and 5-10 minutes further inside campus. There are eating joints in a span of a 10-25 minute walk. I was not sure if I could access the kitchen (mainly for hot water for tea) as the puppies were gated in there. I did not ask either as I did not spend much time there, but if I were to return that would be something I would clarify first. I would recommend Brooke and Ryan's place to anyone looking for a quiet stay for great value.

    Taveeshi2015-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice room. Hosts are friendly and kind-hearted. Nearby is quite. Convenient to visit Vassar College, and the main part of the city.

    Alina2018-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • I was greeted in a friendly way. I felt very comfortable by Brooke and Ryan - they are nice people.

    Jouko2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The elephant room and next door bathroom were very clean. I had everything I need for a comfortable stay. Brooke was very hospitable and welcoming. Definitely will stay with her again if I am in the area.

The apartment features a cozy back porch—perfect for sipping your morning coffee or tea, or enjoying a beverage while watching the sun set. • This is a great spot for an eclectic stay. The location was great, walking distance to restaurants and the waterfront. Great breakfast in the morning and very friendly hosts.

  • My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this place! This residence represents exactly what Airbnb was started for. Daniel was an incredible host – we had breakfast with him both mornings of our stay and ended up talking for a few hours each time. If you're looking for warm, generous, interesting people to fill in some of the gaps during your stay – this is the place for you! Great local recommendations, great conversation over breakfast and overall a very comfortable welcoming place to stay! We will return!

  • Pina was hospitable and wanted us to be comfortable. Very convenient, we walked to restaurants, drove to sight see, had a great time!

    Karen2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I recommend staying with Pina if your visiting Poughkeepsie. She is very nice, accomodating, and personable.

  • Pina and Daniel were very nice and accommodating hosts. It was a true Bed and Breakfast experience. Daniel even made us breakfast in the morning! The Robin's Nest is a great place if you're passing through or for a short stay.

    Sharleen2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The robin's nest was exactly where we wanted to be in Poughkeepsie. The space was comfortable and the building beautiful. We particularly loved sitting out on the porch watching the sunset, walking down to Waryas park, and taking in DJ Fuzzy at the Derby.

    Nathaniel2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • A charming space with such friendly, interesting, knowledgeable hosts. The house is very conveniently located and comfortable; and Pina and Daniel are delightful to spend time with and prepare lovely breakfasts. We really enjoyed the private upstairs balcony as well. Would definitely book again when next I'm in the area.

    Frank2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Pina is a sincerely gracious host who wants to please. However, we found the fact that there were no real beds in the space, disappointing. The two "twin" beds are 32" wide metal cots, and not appropriate for the average sized adults. The space they are in does not allow anywhere for setting the suitcase to open it up or store clothing. This space is open to the kitchen, entry and bathroom, and there was no privacy for the couple that stayed there as it had no door or walls. Whilst a very eclectic property, we city folks, felt the foldout queen bed should be exchanged for a real bed, and no extra charge should be added for the cots, or the guests willing to sleep on them. Parking was a problem as it was very limited, on street. (though Pina was kind enough to let us pull in behind her car for the few nights we stayed). We were in town for a wedding, and super busy, so we spent no time at the property except to sleep. A tv in the unit would have been appropriate as sharing the living room downstairs with the host, were not something we were comfortable doing. The location was convenient to stores and restaurants and the neighborhood was quiet.

  • The host sent a thorough email with directions to the guest house, where to find essential items (place was well-stocked), what to do once we got into town (there were several options so we didn't even have to do any research), where we can park without getting ticketed, etc. Bed was comfy, coffee was excellent, instructions on how to make said coffee in the french press were easy to follow for this amateur. The guesthouse looks like something out of an architectural magazine. It's really amazing with a very thoughtful attention to detail. Can't wait to return!

    Joe2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Seth was very welcoming and made sure to provide us with a great and extensive list of places and restaurants to explore in the area. The house is incredibly well decorated, clean and the craftsman details are most enjoyable. We didn't have a car (took the train up from NYC) and would highly recommend that guests have one as Poughkeepsie is not so walking friendly and Taxi service is lacking (Uber doesn't exist up there). Seth also provided taxi numbers which helped with our stay. We highly recommend this little Poughkeepsie gem!

  • First: Seth is an excellent host. Knowledgeable, passionate about the area and eager to share. Second: The place is really a gem. Clean, spacious organized. Everything that you'd wan't in a place.

  • The Poet guesthouse is a great place to stay as a home base for exploring the Hudson valley. Seth gave great, extensive recommendations for activities and restaurants in area. He has done an excellent job of decorating the guesthouse and has established an ease of use for staying at the guesthouse. The guesthouse was clean and had all the amenities one would need. I highly recommend staying at the Poet guesthouse if staying in or exploring the Hudson valley.

  • We had a great stay at Seth's apartment and really appreciated all of his recommendations. I advise anyone looking to stay here to take note of the fact that this is a one bedroom apartment with one bed. The other sleeping arrangements include two cots that you can roll out of a closet and make yourselves, as well as a couch. When the cots are set up, they occupy the entire living room space, and anyone staying or sitting on the couch would have a hard time getting around the cots to get to the kitchen/bathroom/bedroom/door. Also, please note that while there are two apartments at the location, only one car fits in the driveway unless you and the other occupant agree to park back to back. In the likely event that neither occupant wants to get blocked in, the other must park on the street where there are parking rules. I don't mean to point this out to be negative or to deter anyone from staying here, but simply to help other AirBnBers feel fully informed before booking. Again, we had a great stay and hope that others enjoy the apartment as well.

  • A wonderful apartment - beautifully fitted out and ideally located for a friend's (Email hidden by Airbnb) fortably accommodates five people for a weekend. Seth was a fantastic host.

  • Seth was an excellent host in that he was responsive, kind and gave tons of great recommendations for places to eat, walk etc. The poet's apartment is clean and thoughtfully decorated. Very comfortable spot to kick back and relax in.

  • The Poet Guest House Apartment is a charming and peaceful apartment for two people located within few minutes driving time of Vassar College. Although the house isn't much to look at from the outside, the apartment itself is extremely relaxing to be in. It has great light. And the owner has decorated the apartment tastefully. Seth offered us many fine recommendations for things to do and places to eat while in Poughkeepsie, and was prompt in responding to requests for more information. He was professional and courteous.

  • Kim was a great hostess. Her place was cozy and comfy. I would definitely recommend her place to friends and family.

    Sonia2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Kim's! Her home is beautiful and the kitties were super sweet. She even prepared us a breakfast of coffee, fresh fruit, and pastries. Truly delightful.

    Kris2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay, with a lovely host. Don't be put off by the age or condition of the outside of the house -- the guest room is very nicely appointed, with a great mattress, comfortable linens, clean towels, etc. Your private bathroom is across the second floor landing, so, although not technically en suite, it's functionally equivalent. And Kim greets you each morning with great coffee and freshly made scones -- for a great start to the day. Wi-Fi also was excellent. Only note, for those who like a frigid sleeping environment, is that the air conditioner is a bit under-powered for the size of the room. In any event, I would happily stay there again.

    Roger2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Kim's was great! Highly recommended!

    Trip2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our room was wonderful, and the bed felt great after hours of driving. Kim was really nice and very welcoming. The fresh from the oven scones in the morning were wonderful too. Thanks for everything, Kim!

    Rosemary2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kim is a great host, and our experience matches all of the positive comments that have already been noted. She's very helpful with advice about Poughkeepsie and the area, and cares a great deal about your comfort. Snacks and waters in the rooms, a light breakfast with coffee in the morning, and plenty of room. We had a wonderful, but too brief, stay.

    Mark2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kim was great. The room and interior of the house was beautiful. Everything was wonderful with our stay but guests need to be aware of some street noise.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay! The location is absolutely perfect for anyone visiting the Hudson Valley Region - so very close to everything you would need (gas station, drug store, coffee shop, restaurants, shopping) or want to visit (historical sites, outdoor adventures). It was absolutely perfect! A great studio suite with a separate entrance through the garage, where we were permitted to park our vehicle! Everything we needed - a spacious studio set up with living area that included a super comfy couch and lounge, big screen TV, amazing wood burning fireplace, desk & chair, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker. And then around the corner was the bedroom area with the most amazing queen bed (best sleep ever!). And perfect bathroom (shower only, no tub) with washer/dryer! Everything you need for a short or long stay! Our hosts were friendly and accommodating. Provided us with bottled water, coffee with necessities, a log for the fireplace, and some toiletries. 100% satisfied. And a hearty recommendation to anyone thinking of staying here!

We will be nearby to check you in and be available as needed. Please excuse some of the unfinished work in the house. We are gradually renovating as we aquire funds from Airbnb guests. We love our charming little house and are proud of the work we have done thus far. All of the money that we get from reservations goes right into our house to pay for renovations, bills and other maintenance. We hope you enjoy your time in our home.
Quiet area with families and diverse, friendly and safe neighborhood. The neighborhood kids play in the streets and neighbors walk their dogs. You can walk to local business including a deli, pharmacy, flowers shop.
  • Nice, clean, functional house. Cute neighborhood.

  • Brooke and Ryan’s artsy cottage is perfect for a family of four or two couples if you’re renting the whole house. The decor is so funky and cool, and while the space is cozy, it’s uncluttered and calming. Brooke and Ryan met us at check in to show us around. Plenty of towels, coffee maker (Keurig), full use of kitchen with a bonus treat of delicious coconut shortbread cookies just for us. We dined in their private, fenced-in backyard where there’s plenty of seating around two tables, a hammock, and even a fire pit they’d loaded up with wood. Lucky for us the honeysuckle was in bloom! The downstairs guest room has brochures and such for things to see and do in the area, and the living room closet was offered to us, too, with plenty of games and a great movie selection. We were in town for my niece’s graduation, and the house is very close to Vassar, but not walking distance. If you need to stay in Poughkeepsie for a graduation or homecoming weekend, this is the place to be!

Charming newly renovated 3BR Dutch Colonial in a quiet neighborhood in Poughkeepsie's historic south side. Just blocks from Vassar and close to everything, including public transportation. Make yourself at home and enjoy all that the area has to offer.
It is a three bedroom house that my husband and I renovated ourselves. We are still planning some future improvement projects (for example the fireplace is not operational yet), but all of the living spaces are done and we are happy to share the home with others when we are not using it.
  • This is a lovely house. It was a perfect space for what we needed.

  • Wonderful play to stay! Great location in a nice part of town. Everything was arranged perfect, no guessing. Comfortable clean house. Very quick responses. It had snowed and the snow was cleared from the driveway, porch and sidewalk right away. Highly recommend to anyone traveling to this area.

  • Terrific house and great hosts in a very nice part of Poughkeepsie! We really enjoyed our time there and truly felt it was a home away from home!

    Frank2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house in a quiet area in a quiet village on the Hudson river. From here we made hikes on 'The bridge over the Hudson' (little dissapointing, but the brewery in Poughkeepsie is great), the Breakneck ridge trial near Beacon (brilliant!) and a huge part of the Appalachean trial (very nice). It is very convenient to have a car in this place, but the train ride to New York Grand Central next to the Hudson is also beautifull. Mor's house has everything you need and she responds fast when having a question. We (family with 3 teenagers) had a good time.

    Jacqueline2018-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean and accommodating...very recently renovated as well.

    Louis2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved that the house easily accommodated six adults and a toddler. There were plenty of games to keep everyone occupied. The house was very clean and updated with plenty of kitchen and bath amenities. The beds were comfy. The location being so close to Vassar College gave us incentive to walk through the nice neighborhood down to the campus. We found a major grocery store, great take-out pizza place and nice restaurant overlooking the Hudson River all within a few miles of the house. The response to our questions and concerns from the co-host were answered quickly. We had a wonderful weekend!

This spacious suite is peaceful, & wooded with separate entrance, patio, wifi, full kitchen, bathroom (small shower), queen bed, sleeper sofia, TV (uses fire stick, wifi & blu-ray, no cable) Local (seasonal) sites to see: Walkway over the Hudson, FDR Home & Library (Hyde Park, 14 mi.away), Culinary Institute (11 Mi), Vassar College, Highland Landing Park, Old Kingston (original site of NYS Capital), SUNY New Paltz, Antique stores of NP, Huguenot Village, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mtn House.
We're unique because we live in a rural setting, yet within a few miles of - Mohonk, apple orchards, vineyards, 5 colleges, The Walkway Over the Hudson, etc. We also are 10 minutes from the train to NYC. *If you come from NYC by train - we offer pickup roundtrip for $10 (please make sure you ask if you need this.)
We fondly call our neighborhood, "the Outback," because we're in the woods. 1. The biggest plus is the peacefulness and we are centrally located near SUNY New Paltz and Vassar Colleges. There are also 2 community colleges nearby as well. 2. We regularly have a family of wild turkeys, deer, and red tailed hawks coming through the yard. Of course the usual chipmunks, ground hogs and squirrels. We even had a huge, beautiful large Owl land right outside the Suite window this past spring.
  • Very cozy spot to spend some quality time with others. Kit was a great host.

  • Kit and Mark's country cottage was the perfect place to stay. They were incredibly accommodating, even asking about dietary preferences. When I told Kit I had celiac disease she was kind enough to put a loaf of gluten free bread in the fridge. The home was warm and welcoming and central to many great locations while providing a quiet getaway. My friend and I had a great stay and look forward to returning!

  • Warmly welcome! Clean and cozy apartment, fully equipped what is located in a lovely environment and just a really best location to discover the Hudson Valley attractions. Great experience for an enjoyable weekend. We truly recommend! Thanks!

  • Communication with Kit and Mark was very quick, easy and informative. The apartment was spacious, clean and perfect for our needs - we appreciated the thoughtfulness in providing breakfast items. The location is wonderfully peaceful and rural, but there are many restaurants and cafes only a short drive away. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Kit was a very gracious host and made the entire stay simple and stress free. The basement apartment is perfectly set up for a private stay with all the amenities you would need - full kitchen, small private bathroom, and even a washer/dryer. Check in and out was a breeze and Kit provided great communication and instructions.

    William2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying at Kit's place. Just as before, the apartment was clean and comfortable. I had everything I needed to get some work done when I got there. The area is quiet so I was able to sleep well throughout the night. Additionally, breakfast was available for me to prepare the following morning. Kit was incredibly hospitable and kind throughout my visit.

    Tierra2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kathen and Mark are upbeat and extremely attentive. As it turned out, everything in the rental space was in good shape so I never needed to call on them but it was very clear that help would have been a text, call, or knock on the door away. The space looks exactly as in the picture and while it is a lower level apartment it has the feel of a cabin in the woods. The partially underground situation probably accounts for the fact that it stayed a steady, cool temperature during my three summer days there, and that I couldn't hear any road noise, which is extremely important to me. In short, Kathen's place allowed me to have a good, two-night stay in the country near old friends and close to some of my favorite Shawangunk hiking trails. There are literally dozens of restaurants in New Paltz to choose from too. Thumbs up.

    Steven2017-07-27T00:00:00Z

A Scandinavian Comtemporary home with a great host!
Wonderful neighborhood up from the Hudson RIver. River views in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Quiet with a sound of the train whistle
  • A treasure along the Hudson. The beautifully designed Nordic themed home with its lovely curated moments was amazing...from a lit fire both in the pm and am, to its comfy bedding, and the simply divine 3 course breakfast. The attention to detail was superior. Best of all was the creative chef and host Troy, and his sweet pups!! I can't wait to return with my family and friends.

    Belinda2017-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • We have the most pleasant experience staying at Troy's B&B. The living room is very spacious with the beautiful plants carefully arranged, the seats are super comfortable, the view out of the large windows is serene, the relaxing background music perfects the whole picture there. The Norwegian breakfast Troy prepared is an eye-opener for me and my daughter. Each course is a piece of art! Nourishing in ingredients, pleasing to the eye! Troy is very knowledgeable about the local historic attractions. He provided us great recommendations to sites to visit and gave us quite a few nice travel brochures. He even took us to Vanderbilt mansion and Val-kill for the tours, which totally exceeded our expectations. Troy is an extraordinary host, we enjoyed every minute while we stayed there. He has many great stories to share, which is a bonus for our vacation, the experience you won't get staying at the regular hotels. This is our first airbnb experience, it proves to be the best stay we ever had during all of our travels. Thanks a bunch Troy. If ever we are in the area for vacation, I'd look you up first. I'd love to bring my family and friends to meet you.

    Donna2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a phenomenal stay at Troy's home. It is so beautiful and tastefully decorated. It is easy to see how much care and effort Troy puts into making his guests happy; he has put so much toward his home such as new fans, etc. We really enjoyed sitting out in the living room and playing with his two dogs. The room itself is very comfortable. It is also really nice to see Troy's passion for Scandinavian and Norwegian cultures; we loved hearing about his various trips and endeavors. Be prepared for a three-course breakfast; it's pretty incredible AND delicious. It was really nice to talk with the other guests, as well. Also, the area is amazing, and we wish we had more time to explore it. Historic Rhinebeck is great for dinner, and we spent some time at the Vanderbilt mansion. We wish we had time to check out the FDR sites! This home is so lovely; we really recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

    Nora2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure staying with Troy! He made us feel right at home as we prepared for our wedding weekend. His breakfast is amazing! We're hoping to come back again. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

  • Second stay. Highly recommend! Will come back again. Troy is an exceptional host and it's always delicious!

  • Right after my boyfriend and I stepped out of the car, we felt like we are in a different country. Troy welcomed us into his house and show us his lovely and comfortable house. Troys house looks really clean, cozy and full of light (especially in the morning). Our room was clean, warm and just perfect decorated. The bed is super comfortable and warm. The bathroom is great and looks amazing. Especially the tissue holder :-)!!! Troys two dogs Annie and Ella are super friendly and like to be loved. They both have a super good behavior and making the house more alive. We didn't expect, but Troy made a big surprise for us. In the morning we got a three course breakfast. It was so delicious and so unique. Troy is a good cook and believe me if you will choose his house you will never forget it! When I set there and had my breakfast, I felt like it's my house and I have my own butler. The feeling was amazing!!! Troy is a great, friendly and helpful person. You will never be bored with him and his place is really unique!!!! I would love to come again!!!! :-)

    Pavla2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Troy's home is not just a stay at any air Bnb. His Norwegian aesthetic and Scandinavian influence brings an amazing sense of (as the Danes say) Hygge. I asked Troy about this and he said it is a way of life for him. His attention to detail in providing comfort for his guests goes beyond maybe any other air Bnb host I've had previously. I definitely will consider making a trip up to the Hudson valley again in large part as an excuse to spend more time at Troys home.

Location is great! Neighborhood is wonderful! Large living room for use. Large yard in a nice family sub division. Kitchen is fully stocked with needed utensils and wares.
Family oriented , tree filled, bird filled, chipmunk filled ... Nice atmosphere! But close to everything. For several months starting June 1 there will be 2 medium sized dogs visiting .
  • Nice house in safe neighborhood. I even had time for a swim in the pool during the 90 degree weather.

  • I really enjoyed the stay. I was there to help my girlfriend move into a different dorm in Marist. This house is literally 5 mins away of a drive to school. The room is nice and clean. We get to cook our own meals. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

  • We stayed in the blue room, which was comfortable and cheerful, as described. Loraine and her family were all very friendly, and great hosts who clearly thought through how to address guests' needs and comfort. The entire home was cozy, welcoming, and lively. It felt like we were there to stay with friends we simply had not met before! Would highly recommend it.

    Mor2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The care put into preparing the room for a brief night's stay was truly incredible. Since I never met Loraine, now is my chance to thank her. It was a wonderful experience.

    Vikas2015-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine opens her home to her guests, making sure that everyone feels really welcome to treat is as their own place. She makes every room really cozy and takes a great deal of pride in trying to anticipate what you might need to feel comfortable. She is genuinely enthusiastic to meet and get to know everyone who comes through her home, but also respectful if you need some quite time on your own to work or rest. It was a pleasure to stay at Loraine's house.

  • Loraine is a good host,she provided a clean and cozy,room!

  • Closer to Vassar College and Marist College as well as nice sites in the Hudson Valley. Host provides samplings of sweet smelling home made soaps. Please note: street parking along house is not allowed and may have to park on lawn of house at an angle especially if driveway (only fits 2 cars) is full from host family or other guests. If you're a light sleeper, might want to bring some earplugs.

    Trung2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely comfortable stay in the blue room (again!). The house is cozy and welcoming and a great way to meet folks and unwind after a long active day. Already stayed here twice and would happily stay again.

  • John's place was fabulous for a small family get-together we had. It is easy to find, easy to check-in, clean, spacious, and had so many nice touches that made us feel at home. It was close to the Walkway Over the Hudson and to Route 9 for easy access to all the local spots. If we come back to the area, we would definitely stay again.

    Claire2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • I can't express how good this place is. John pay's attention to the smallest detail. We will be coming back to Poughkeepsie and we will stay at this place for sure.

    Will2018-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about John's home. It was amazing and had everything you could ever need. It was extremely clean and well designed and came fully stocked with tons of snacks. Additionally, communicating with John was very easy; he was always quick to respond to messages. Overall, great value for the price. We had a fantastic stay here and would definitely recommend the place to anyone in the future.

Quiet neighborhood centrally located 5 minutes from Marist, CIA, Vassar, and route 9. Top selections of restaurants in the area to choose. Newly renovated 3br home. Cozy w lots of character. Private parking for guests. Enjoy the very best of the Hudson Valley, and feel at home doing so.
It is quiet and clean. There is also a ceiling fan in each room with original hard wood flooring. Lots of character throughout. Modern appliances, toiletries, and basic everyday living essentials provided. To express our appreciation for choosing our home, a bottle of wine is provided for our guests. The kitchen, bathroom, and living area are all shared spaces. Enjoy!
Our home is quiet and yet close to everything, i.e...restaurants, theater, colleges, hospital, and shopping mall. Ideal location for great dining, family entertainment as well as local pubs. The home is on a quiet street near Vassar Hospital in the historic district of Poughkeepsie. It is also within 10 minutes driving distance to FDR and the Vanderbilt Estate, which are both excellent for picnics and walks/tours of the property. The home is with a 5 minute WALK to the Metro North train station, Mid Hudson Civic Center, and Walkway over the Hudson.
  • Van was very welcoming! He was accommodating of a slightly earlier check-in time, and greeted us to make sure we settled in. Van left the room stocked with snacks, toiletries, and 2 bottles of wine. A great place to stay in Poughkeepsie!

We're in a great location within a few miles of Vassar, Marist, and IBM. Hyde Park with FDR's home and the Culinary is a few minutes drive. There are two bedrooms, the first room has a beautiful queen size bed and adjoining cozy living room, with a private bath. The second has a king bed with its own private bath. Sleeps two, three or four. Continental breakfast provided. We're looking forward to meeting you.
  • It definitely helps to have GPS on your phone to navigate the curving and winding streets of the neighborhood and of Poughkeepsie itself. Paul and Judith's home is welcoming and quiet for a peaceful time when you are not out doing other things.

    Michael2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Judith and Paul are very sweet. Their house is immaculate and all the reviews I read were spot on. She made cookies for our arrival and had a full breakfast spread in the mornings. Would definitely recommend their place to anyone passing through the Hudson Valley area.

    Laura2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you're visiting Duchess County make sure you consider Judith and Paul's place. We loved the healthy breakfasts and peaceful beauty of their home. Their location between the historic homes up in Hyde Park and the shopping/family eating places further south on highway 9 were an added plus for us.

    Harvey2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Judith and her home met all our expectations based on previous reviews. The beds were so comfortable and Judith and her husband treated us like honored guests. When Judith learned we were early risers, she went out of her way to ready coffee for us the night before. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

    Daniel2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. Judith and Greg were very friendly and welcoming. Cookies upon arrival and a gorgeous breakfast were ready for us. Great stay!

    Heloise2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was too brief! We came to Poughkeepsie for a wedding, so most of our time was spent at the wedding and not in Judith's home. But Our limited experience at Judith's was lovely. The bedroom, bathroom, and living area all share a hallway in the guest area of the house. We were comfortable and our hosts were gracious. In the morning, there was a plentiful array for breakfast, I only wish we could have eaten more and stayed longer.

    Jed2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's house is wonderful. Very clean and comfortable! They were very welcoming to me and my family. We stayed overnight to attend a wedding. It was the perfect location and we had fun talking with them in the morning .

  • Very clean - house, rooms, bathroom. Perfect location - quiet, lovely neighborhood, close to restaurants and the walkway over the Hudson - we saw deer in the neighbors yard on our way to dinner. The 2 bedrooms are on separate floors - part of the main house. Comfortable beds.

  • Pina and Daniele were authentic and wonderful hosts who were very attentive to our needs. The location of their lovely abode is quite Central in the city of Poughkeepsie very close to the train station and Mid-Hudson bridge and Hudson River Walkway . The building is right before a wee patch of grass that we could play some badminton on. It was a great location for us since we wanted to be both Central but also close in driving distance to the hiking areas of the Hudson valley such as Beacon and New Paltz. They were so kind as to make us breakfast both mornings and share their time with us. I highly recommend their AirBnb and encourage others who stay to get to know the wonderful hosts!

    Lauren2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pina and her husband were amazing hosts! Their home is beautiful and clean, and it's a 7 minute walk from the Poughkeepsie train station -- super convenient for folks who are coming in from out of town. Pina was so warm and kind, and she went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. I definitely recommend staying here!

    Amber2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts Pina and Daniel were absolutely amazing. They made us feel extremely welcome and right at home with their warm, loving and hospitable kindness. We adore both of them and feel like we have a second home in Poughkeepsie! Our trip could not have been any better and I attribute alot of that to Pina and Daniel. Much gratitude to both of them! The location was perfect with easy walking distance to downtown; either direction brought you to restaurants, coffee shops or the amazing Hudson River. They were also very helpful with ideas and suggestions about what to do. We would definitely stay here again!

    Josh2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Pina and her husband are kind hearted, gracious hosts that welcomed us like family. She accommodated me and my mom very last minute so we could enjoy a bike event happening in Poughkeepsie. The Victorian home is lovingly decorated with unique finds from their travels in Europe and other parts of the world. They have beautiful artwork on the walls which I liked. The breakfast next day was superb. I felt royally treated. They also gave us thoughtful recommendations on places to visit and we enjoyed our tableside conversation reminiscing about old New York. I would just note that Poughkeepsie is pretty hilly, so my 70-year old mom had a challenge walking around, but that's not a reflection of the hospitality I experienced from Pina and her husband. We plan to return to see more of Hudson Valley and will be sure to stay with them again! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.

    Ana2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • A magical stay. This trip became the highlight of my birthday celebration. Pina and Daniel were (are) excellent hosts: genuinely warm personalities with the right mix of "no pressure" and family-like generosity. Expect very satisfying conversations, and a generally relaxed, good energy. A special “Thank you” to Pina for making us feel so at home, bringing such positive energy, and for information about meditation technique. And of course, much much much gratitude to Daniel for sharing homemade bread, beautiful piano playing (it was perfect for decompressing from the city), and of course for showing us around town and recommending good spots for dining nearby.

  • Cynthia's home was clean, comfortable and well situated - close to Marist College, CIA, and the historic sites in Hyde Park. The house has a wonderful, well appointed modern kitchen and comfortable dining / lounging area. The bathroom was clean and bright and surprisingly large for the size of the rest of the house. The beds were very comfortable. Cynthia is an attentive and gracious host. She made sure we had everything we needed but otherwise, leaving us alone to enjoy her cute home. We hope to stay again soon!

    Mary2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Cynthia's place. The house was everything and more than the listing promised. The location really could not have been better. It is just across the street from the FDR estate and presidential library. Cynthia was very informative and welcoming but not at all intrusive. She communicated with us and helped point out some Everything you could possibly need is available in the house. The beds are very comfortable and the house is beautifully done, very charming but not fussy. This is a great spot to stay when visiting Hyde Park.

    David2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia's beautiful and welcoming house was truly ideal. I happened to arrive a bit early, so Cynthia was there to show me around. Everything was bright and freshly cleaned. The kitchen and bathroom were very well stocked with anything that you'd ever need - from coffee and snacks to shampoo and toothpaste. I found it very easy to find, with a driveway for off-street parking. Every room was very spacious and nicely decorated (everything looked new!). Great wifi connection. Cynthia was excellent with quick and friendly communication and was very flexible and understanding in accommodating a last-minute shift with my plan. I would happily stay here again!

    Erin2017-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great for our little weekend getaway! Cynthia keeps a very clean home that's organized and cozy. You'll find additional snacks and tolietries at your disposal, plus fresh clean towels and sheets that make up two comfy beds. The kitchen was fully stocked - overall a great place for a little family getaway. Cynthia was timely in her responses whenever you had a question. A great place with a great host! Definitely recommended.

  • The house was actually better than what the pictures showed. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Could easily tell that it was recently renovated. Cynthia even left us plenty of snacks and drinks in the fridge which was a great touch.

  • My husband and I definitely felt welcomed at Cynthia's place. She gave us full access to her entire home and the appliances in it. And there was a lovely basket with goodies for us. The neighborhood was very quiet and made our time together very intimate. It was lovely.

We had a great time at Tim and Beth's cabin. Great location for easily getting to Minnewaska and the Catskills. Amazing property and friendly animals. Tim was there to great us, show us around, and made himself available if we needed anything. Cabin has all you could need to enjoy your stay.

I came out with some friend's over Memorial Day weekend to stay at Mike and Lucy's place. The house and property surpassed all of our expectations. Everything is new and well maintained. The view is impeccable. We spent a lot of time just outside enjoying the landscape and around the fire pit at night. Mike and Lucy were fantastic hosts, welcoming us with a bottle of wine. There was also a telescope, which was a really nice thing to have at night. The house was tidy and well equipped with everything we needed for the weekend. I would absolutely rent from Mike and Lucy again. Thank you for your great accommodation!
