Just booked in Poughkeepsie
Sleep staring at stars in wine country! Featured in The New York Times, The Today Show & called by Forbes "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House," the Hudson Valley Glass House is a magical getaway. Just 90 mins from NYC, but a world away. 30 acres of rolling hills give total privacy & isolation as glass walls open up onto endless views of vineyards, orchards, & wildlife (spy coyote, deer, & amazing birds!). Modern comforts (WiFi, A/C, loaded kitchen) mean you don't have to give anything up.
Hi! If you're thinking of booking, please message me first to confirm, and also please read the entire listing to the end as it likely answers any questions you may have... Welcome to The Glass House. Come see why Forbes called it "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House" and called an "off-grid oasis" on The Today Show. Sleep staring at the stars and feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house (just 180 square feet!) retreat, just 90 minutes from NYC, but a world's away. This is a truly special place, and most people find it surprising that it can exist so close to New York. With all sorts of wildlife coming within inches of the house (don't be surprised if you see coyotes, families of deer, and every type of bird you could imagine--not to mention more butterflies than you've ever seen, depending on the season), this is a truly immersive experience into nature. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside. The listing includes: -A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards -Lots of privacy on a 30-acre farm. -Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit that you can definitely grill on. -A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress and insanely comfortable pillows -A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating. -A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven. -Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the real world and streaming shows on your personal devices. Also note that while the house is tiny and has a maximum occupancy of two people, I am sometimes able to accommodate larger parties for those bringing tents and willing to camp outside. Please inquire about pricing for such scenarios. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: Can I get to the house without a car? A: The house is about 25-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber JUST launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a rural area that is not particularly walkable. Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer? A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with basic toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is very rare). Q: Is this house really off the grid? A: Yep! It features solar panels for power, a propane HVAC system for heating and air-conditioning, and a unique dry-flush toilet (more on that in the "Other Things To Note" section below). One exception: You absolutely have working Wi-Fi. Q: How will I receive the key? A: The house features a keyless entry system with a code that lasts as long as your stay. This allows for effortless check-in and entry. Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at my reviews—I think you'll find my guests agree! Q: What's up with the cleaning fee? A: I get a lot of questions about this, so I'll just break it down so you understand why it is what it is: All but $10 of that goes directly to my cleaner. She is a professional who does a great job and who I insist on compensating fairly for her work. The dry-flush toilet cartridges cost me about $20 apiece, so the remaining $10 lets me split that cost with guests. (Of course, if you happen to use more than one cartridge, I cover that cost alone). Q: What's my total booking price? A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this. Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking? A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free, please inquire and I'll try! It depends on whether my cleaning crew can spring into action at the last-minute, which isn't a sure thing. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask. Q: I know it says "No Animals". Can I bring my small/well-behaved dog? A: I love dogs, but there is a farm dog who gets very nervous when other dogs are around, and so we can not allow animals. This is also for your dog's safety, as there are coyotes in the area. Basically: Please don't try to sneak one in--this really doesn't end well. Q: I'm a blogger/YouTuber/influencer. Can I stay for free? A: No. One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Don't throw rocks at glass houses!!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
The Glass House is situated on a 30-acre farm in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. Guests have total privacy, but are joined on the farm by the main farm house, a smaller residence with live-in caretakers that can help out in case of an emergency, and one other tiny house. Around the farm are views of rolling vineyards and apple orchards—many of which are absolutely worth a visit. Downtown Marlboro is minutes away and has a few nightlife and dining options, and the hopping town of Beacon (home of the Dia; Beacon) is about 25 minutes away. Storm King Art Center (a must) is also about 30 minutes away. Also near: New Paltz, Cold Spring Poughkeepsie, and countless other Hudson Valley gems.
  • Really, really cool tiny house. Beautiful architecture, all the amenities, on a scenic farm. I think I'm gonna buy a Vista Escape (the model of house) myself! Seth is a great host - he was very attentive to every need. He made sure everything is taken care of and ready to go. If I'm ever in the Hudson Valley again, I'd love to visit the Glass House.

  • We've had a great stay at Seth's tiny house in the beacon area! The location is beautiful. On our first night, just after checking in we saw a coyote and a group of deer. They came up close to cabin, pretty amazing. From the house we visited DIA Beacon and did the Breakneck Ridge Hike. Aside from that we just relaxed near the house, read books and had some really good nights sleep in the super comfortable bed. Seth has been a great host, responding to out questions fast and giving some great tips for our stay. Highly recommended. Thanks Seth!

  • In a word: Magical. The Glass House is a unique place that is unlike anywhere else I've ever stayed. Yes, it's a tiny home, but the giant windows make it feel surprisingly spacious and we never felt cramped. The best part is when you go to sleep. When you turn the lights off the glass walls seem to disappear and, like the listing says, it feels like you're sleeping outside under the stars. The farm itself is also awesome, with tons of space to explore. In the early spring, we had great views of some amazing scenery. We also enjoyed making a fire in the fire pit down by the pond. It really was recharging to feel like we got away from it all. The place was also very clean with some nice design and decor touches and had a very comfortable mattress. Seth was a great and attentive host who quickly got back to any questions I had. I'll definitely be back.

  • A true gem in the Hudson valley! Really modern and cozy, and fantastic view in the snow. Seth is very communicative and everything worked out well. Looking forward to visit again in the summer.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Seth's tiny house for our 1 year anniversary! The house was luxurious and secluded on a gorgeous plot of farm land. The bed was cozy and was perfect for a 2 night stay. Seth was so prompt in communicating with us, and was very attentive to our needs! Would highly recommend this place.

  • This place may be tiny, but the effect on the psyche is huge. It was the perfect quick escape from the frenetic pace of city life.

    Jack2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Glass House was a dream, and staying there an extremely positive experience. The abundant space and light were just what we needed having traveled from the city for a respite in the country (it seriously felt spacious in relative terms to our one-bedroom; okay, it might have totally just been the absolute lack of clutter); the stars were glorious. With only chickens and deer to call our neighbors, we couldn't have been happier, and would heartily recommend Seth (with his quick, diligent, and accurate hosting skills) and his place to anyone looking for a relaxing, stress-free getaway.

We are conveniently located within a 10 minute WALK from the Poughkeepsie Train Station and the historic Walkway over the Hudson! Our three family home is nestled in the Little Italy district of the City of Poughkeepsie - Appropriately there is no shortage of Italian bakeries or Italian restaurants in our neighborhood! Four restaurants (Amici's, Milanese, Cosimo's and Emiliano's) and two bakeries (La Deliziosa and Cafe Aurora) to be exact, all within WALKING distance! Good food is definitely not hard to come by in our neck of the woods. WALK on down to the Poughkeepsie waterfront... Dine inside or al fresco overlooking the beautiful Hudson River at the River Station Restaurant. Make sure you try one of the five delicious soups, homemade daily or pop into the historic Ice House on the Hudson for some of their yummy eats! Maybe you're just in the mood to cozy up next to a fire and enjoy a delicious glass of wine? Well then WALK down the street and around the corner to the Nic'L Inn. The ambience and artfully crafted menu never disappoints but be careful because their complimentary fried spaghetti can be addictive. Obviously we enjoy introducing people to our favorite neighborhood spots but lets not take away the fact that your journey to Poughkeepsie is just the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Located within 20 +/- minutes to the Village of New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Beacon, Breakneck Ridge (Hiking), Millbrook and multiple Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries, Orchards and attractions in Historic Hyde Park. • Beautiful place. Exactly like the pictures. Great location

  • Perfect space for a weekend stay! A short walk to pretty much anything you would want to do.

    James2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is so quaint and in a perfect location with easy access to restaurants, shops and anything else one might need. Check in was so easy thanks to the great communication from the hosts. The apartment is small, but perfect for a night or two.

    Julie2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Robert & Regina's place was everything as described. The pictures were completely accurate the appliances and the kitchen everything looked new and really well maintained. I wish I could decorate my own apartment like that. I was only there for one night when I was taking an exam the next afternoon. I was able to study peacefully and quietly until then. I had my exam the next morning which I got an A on just got my score back.... but anyway looking for clean, comfortable and a home away from home instead of a hotel for the same price or even more I would def choose here !

    Kemi2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! It's perfectly decorated and feels like a home away from home. The entrance/check-in is super easy plus it's just a short walk from the train station. It was also a quick walk to the Walkway Over the Hudson too. Robert and Regina have thought of all the small touches to make a stay extra comfortable--including extra towels and coffee. It was perfectly heated for the winter too. We really enjoyed our stay! I would highly recommend for anyone traveling to Poughkeepsie.

  • Had a great stay, thanks!

    Andrew2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. Very clean and very comfortable. If you peek through some trees out the front windows you can see the river. The block is very quiet yet in a very convenient part of town. We would absolutely stay here again.

  • If you need a place to stay in the Poughkeepsie arae, look no further. Robert & Regina's place is clean, conveniently located, and stylishly decorated. Big bonus- an easily accessible and spacious parking spot.

  • We had a fantastic, quick stay at Rob and Elisa's! Elisa was happy to accommodate our tight schedule, and Rob made sure to catch us on our way out to say goodbye. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with private bath and a coffee maker ready to brew next morning's cup. We only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful fall weather in this lovely part of the Hudson Valley!

  • Great location in the beautiful Hudson Valley. The setting is tranquil, enhanced by a lovely pond in the back. Rob & Elisa are excellent, thoughtful hosts. They responded quickly and helpfully every time I communicated with them. Their place is quiet, comfortable and filled with Elisa's fantastic artwork. Truly a restful spot.

  • What a great central location for biking and hiking in the Hudson Valley. The walkway over the Hudson and all the rails to trails are amazing. Easy drive into New Paltz, charming town, lots of restaurants and shops. Easy trip to Dia and Storm King for great art. What a special home base to be in. Casa del arte is charming, private and felt like our home away from home!

  • Our stay was great. Elisa was very welcoming and even set up the futon last minuet at our request. The room was exactly as it appears in the pictures and very spacious - with a gorgeous view over the pond. Eliza's gallery is a must see. Would definitely stay here again.

  • This is the second time I have stayed with Troy. I had a wonderful time. Troy is a welcoming and generous host. It is a fun experience to stay at his house, and I definitely feel lucky to have found him. Look no further!

    Deborah2015-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Just had the best weekend in Hyde Park with my friend Kara thanks to Troy! Troy made us feel home right away and treated us like family while providing a level of hospitality many hotels could take lessons from. We felt cherished, we laughed, we enjoyed learning more about his passion for Norway, and of course lingering over his outstanding breakfast. Goof food, good people, good home: the perfect combo for a mesmerizing weekend. We will be back! Only downside: there are more weekdays in a week than days in a weekend....we wanted our experience never to be over!! Thank you thank you Troy - you made it special. See you very soon - cheers to Richard xxx

    Eleonore2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • We have been coming to Troy's beautiful house every time we need a short break from city life. It is our home away from home. Troy makes sure that you have a comfortable stay. We always look forward to the full Scandinavian breakfast and the room is always extremely clean.

    Tom2015-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Troy is the most welcoming, heartwarming host I've ever stayed with on Air BnB and in general. He made us such interesting and delicious meals and included us in his Fish Friday tradition with his closest friends. I never knew just how much character and activity the town had in it until Troy took my boyfriend and I on tours all around, telling us about people who lived around us and "the best burgers in Hyde Park". He felt like part of my family I'd never met.

    Katie2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first stay with Troy but it will certainly not be my last! I arrived after a long drive from South Carolina and found the accommodations and the host most warm and welcoming. I stayed in the Dutchess County room--which was spacious enough for me and my sister and also cozy and beautifully-appointed. Troy has such a talent for design! His home is just stunning. The linens on the bed were bright-white and fresh, the bed like a cloud,&entire house stylish and comfortable. Our expectations were met and exceeded. Troy is THE consummate host. He is a fantastic cook and prepares a 3-course traditional Norwegian breakfast with excellent coffee and tea and different juices, all served on his gorgeous, candle-lit Danish mod table. He introduced us to his lovely friends, made us feel like family in his own home, invited us for New Year's Eve dinner (which was delicious and FUN) and by the end of my stay I definitely felt like I had made new friends. Troy is also very much a steward of Hyde Park and local historian. Because he cares so much about his home and the area, and because of his great respect for people and entertaining, the trip was also educational for me and unique in a way that none of my other travels have been. I cannot wait to go back to Troy's.

    Elizabeth2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A truly outstanding experience made perfection by a host dedicated to the comfort and wellbeing of his guests. Charming and affable, Troy went way out of his way to make our brief stay most enjoyable. His three course Scandanavian breakfast was both delicious and memorable. We will return!

    Jeryl2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • our host Troy was wonderful throughout our stay with him. we enjoyed breakfast and dinner with him at his lavishly decorated dining area, and not to mentioned, Troy's excellent culinary skills, even the culinary sets extended by him was luxurious and elaborated. not to mention, he has 2 wonderfully trained girls, my wife who's afraid of dogs ended up feeling all comfortable with them. room is under basement with own floor and room to use. would definitely head back again to find Troy if we visit that area again!:)

    Foo2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Troy is like staying with family! He included us in breakfast, touring the Vanderbilt garden. It was amazing. The space was cozy, comfortable and private. He is so knowledgeable about Hyde Park and surrounding areas, as well as knowing a wealth about the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt families. The grounds are beautiful, and we met a deer grazing in the yard. We 100% enjoyed our stay, Troy and his 2 pups!

POUGHKEEPSIE: Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. A historic industrial port city, Poughkeepsie is currently going through an exciting resurgence, characterized by a grassroots local food movement, farm-to-table restaurants, and a number of revitalization projects, including the renowned Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest pedestrian bridge spanning the width of Hudson River. The Walkway connects the Dutchess County and Ulster County rail trails, making Poughkeepsie a destination for bike enthusiasts. Vassar College and the city’s south side also make for wonderful bike routes with cute residential streets, historic homes, and lots of trees. We love Poughkeepsie for its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum, from its pristine college campuses to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Poughkeepsie is an exciting place with a unique energy, and an ideal home base for experiencing the rest of the Historic Hudson Valley. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Gray Street, where the guest house is located, is a residential, tree-lined street in a transitioning neighborhood 5 minutes from Vassar College. The neighborhood is a blend of everything from young entrepreneurs, academics, government workers, tradespeople and low income families. The guest house sits across from Forbus Butternut Park, a 1-acre greenspace overseen by a local non-profit. There is a church on the other side of the park, and the Poughkeepsie High School and football field is about 2 blocks away. During the day, kids sometimes play in the street, but for the most part it's very quiet since Gray Street isn’t a major thoroughfare. AROUND THE REGION: Because Poughkeepsie is centrally located, it makes for a great jumping off point to explore the rest of the Hudson Valley region. Towns like Beacon, New Paltz, Rosendale, Millbrook, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck are all within an easy drive with lots of things to see along the way. Hudson, The Catskills, Cold Spring, Phoenicia and the Berkshires all make for wonderful day trips – full of meandering country drives, antiquing, hiking, fishing, wine-tasting, museum-hopping, or cooling off in a swimming hole. I run a blog that’s dedicated to travel, food and culture in the region called An Upstate of Mind, and I’m happy to send along recommendations for our favorite spots tailored around whatever you like to do. The surrounding Upstate NY towns are lovely, but to make for a full day, it’s sometimes good to combine a few destinations into a “mini road trip” that lets you soak in the local flavor and experience the sprawling natural settings the Hudson Valley is known for.
  • The Artist Apartment is the perfect stay for Poughkeepsie with ample room and lovely decor. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. I will definitely rent this place again. Thank you Seth for being such a great host.

    Susie2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Seth is extremely responsive and helpful, and he has great recommendations for making the most of the region. We used his suggestions for just about every meal we ate. The apartment is clean, very comfortable, stylish, and well-located for Hudson Valley activities. The check-in and check-out process was clear and easy. Overall, a great experience!

  • What a great place to stay! The apartment was clean and comfortable. I loved the pictures throughout the house. I wish I was able to get the story behind them all. Alex's for breakfast was a great tip! Thanks, Seth!

    Christine2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very beautifully decorated, it was cozy and very sunny! The neiborhood is quiet and perfect for sleeping in! we cooked in the kitchen both nights and found it to be easy and comfortable - the layout of the apartment is wonderful. Seth was also a wonderful host, although we did not get a chance to meet him, he checked in with us during the stay via email and also offered us wonderful suggestions on places to go in the neighborhood. We will absolutely recommend Seth's space to anyone looking to explore the Hudson valley!

    Edita2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • My second time staying in the Gray Street Guesthouse, and everything was just as good as the first. The unit is lovely, well appointed and exactly as advertised. The location is within easy driving distance of a gold mine’s worth of Hudson Valley attractions, not to mention walking or driving distance of Poughkeepsie’s great food and the Walkway Over the Hudson. And Seth is a dream host: he made check-in a breeze, was exceptionally responsive, and provided myriad recommendations for the area. Highly recommended!

    Matthew2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Seth's Guest House. The space is super clean, comfortable and stylish. The big open kitchen, the bathroom with the awesome woodblock sink, the linens… Everything was just right. You can tell a lot of care went into the details and personal touches. Especially the cool antiques and artwork. It felt like we had our own beautiful place upstate. It was also the perfect jumping off point for exploring Dutchess County. The first day we checked out DIA in Beacon, came home for a nap, and then went to dinner at Serevan, an incredible Armenian/Mediterranean restaurant in the town of Amenia. The next day we hit up the Vanderbilt and Mills mansions, and wandered around the shops in Rhinebeck. We're planning to come back soon to go antiquing, and just spend more time lounging around and reading books at the Guest House. If you're living in the city or Brooklyn and you want to get away for the weekend, this is definitely the spot.

  • Seth has the most wonderful home in Poughkeepsie. Beautifully decorated and great to Instagram!! Really easy to find and access was simple. Seth had also given us loads of ideas for activities and especially food - it was thanksgiving weekend so of course we had to eat a lot! Was a great base to stay to explore all around the Catskills, Beacon and Cold Spring as well and a new scene developing in Poughkeepsie itself. Thank you Seth for being a perfect host.

  • Once again...another wonderful stay at The Artist! I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when coming to upstate NY. Seth is so easy to communicate with and always makes the home PERFECT.

Wonderful neighborhood up from the Hudson River. Quiet with a sound of the train whistle.
  • Wow. My wife and I stayed with Troy for a night, and were blown away by his hospitality. He is the ideal host -- warm and welcoming, respects privacy, prepares an amazing breakfast, and knows all the in's and out's of the area to provide recommendations for activities. He clearly has a passion for hosting, and has a genuine love for the Hudson Valley. His home is modern, impeccably clean, and the bed was super comfy as well. 11/10, you can't go wrong with Troy!

  • This was our second visit at Troy's home (again for three nights), and I'm sure it won't be the last! We have found a home-away from home and second family at Troy's place in Hyde Park while our daughter is attending the Culinary Institute of America! Troy's hospitality and attention to details which make for a comfortable stay are unmatched. The mattresses, towels and duvets are of excellent quality and so cushy. The home has such a pleasant ambiance (winter and summer), with tiny white candles, a fire, and soothing lighting. Troy is an amazing cook, and the table he sets makes you feel as if you are in the classiest restaurant (Website hidden by Airbnb) At the heart of all of this is a wonderful, funny, warm and interesting person that is simply great to be around. Whether it's sharing a delicious meal with his guests and closest friends, giving a tour of the Vanderbilt Gardens where he volunteers, or sharing his passion for Scandinavia and the cheese he hopes to import from Norway, Troy has a "joie de vivre" that is irresistible! I can not wait to return, being there just makes me feel good :). Thank you so much, Troy, for making our daughter and I feel so at home, and for looking out for her in the future.

  • We had such a wonderful stay at Troy's beautiful home in the woods! It is impeccably clean and he is very true to his Scandinavian style. The beds were comfortable with down covers. My room had a small TV in it which was a nice touch. It is in a really central location, near the Vanderbilt Mansion and FDR library. Troy made us the best breakfast in the morning, including all the Norwegian/Swedish fixings. Overall he made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend. He owns two dogs that are very well behaved.

  • Troy was a magnanimous host as always. We had an incredible breakfast, and a lovely night reading by the fire. Troy's place is a delight in any season!

    Ashley2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful! Troy's generosity and attentive caring were most appreciated. He surprised with a complentary upgrade! Breakfast was not only delicious but the conversation was great. It was a perfect stay for myself and my partner during our short visit to the Hudson valley. Highly recommend

  • I could never thank Troy enough for making my stay in Hyde Park so pleasant and comfortable! All the amazing Airbnb reviews I read were completely confirmed and exceeded in reality! I am already missing Troy's pleasant and calming home and the room where I stayed for 4 nights there. Troy's exceptional responsiveness in all communication and hospitality toward all guests will undoubtedly make anyone's visit to Hyde Park unique, comfortable, and personal. I can't recommend this place more highly!

    Kaylan2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • I scheduled a short get away from the hectic city and Troy's place fit the bill. It was easy to get to, right off the major road and close to so many attractions. Troy was the perfect host, if you needed space he gave it and if you wanted input he provided excellent recommendations. He even gave me a mini tour of the area and I got to see things I am sure I would have missed venturing out on my own. The house is charming and you just feel welcomed as soon as you come through the door. The fireplace and the cozy lounge chair was my favorite spot. The outdoor spaces appeared very relaxing as well. All this being said the best thing was the breakfast in the morning. It was absolutely AMAZING!!! I got everything I wanted out of my little get away and Troy's place was more than I could have hoped for.

    Nicole2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Troy's hospitality was exceptional. It was in the true spirit of what an Airbnb should be. Tgec

  • Troy is a magnificent host and a wonderful cook! His house is beautiful and very comfortable, the breakfasts are highly memorable, and Troy and his friends are lovely.

  • Troy gives dignity to air bnb and really makes the experience what it should be. We were stunned by the 2 wood fireplaces, 3 course breakfast and many candles. Troy is an active member in his community and loved by many. He is part of the 1% on air bnb to provide fresh herbs and kale from his garden in December. Troy even took us to the Vanderbilt Mansion to get us free entry to a tour. Troy's house is clean and cozy, and our New Years was special with fondu and homemade pizza! Troy goes above and beyond the call of duty and is a natural host. This was my first air bnb stay and I'm not sure that I'll go back to hotels anytime soon.

    John2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Troy was above and beyond the best host I could have asked for. He made sure my stay was comfortable and was very welcoming into his home. The breakfasts he provided were incredible and he even took the time to explain the Norwegian significance of the different foods! I can't express how grateful I am to have met Troy during my stay. Troy's home should be your #1 choice if you're looking to stay in the Hyde Park area!

    David2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • My Spring stay at Troy's was just as wonderful as my Winter stay. Once again the Norweigen 3-course breakfast was sublime. His home is beautiful, well designed, and so comfortable. The attention to detail in everything he touches is amazing. The location is ideal for visiting the many historic sites in the area, even on a bike. I look forward to my next stay...Thank you Troy!

    Belinda2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Troy provided an incredible retreat for my partner and I. From the moment we got in to the moment we left, he was poised to offer his generosity, attention, and hospitality. It was a terrific weekend!

    James2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Troy is beyond your typical host, now I get why he's a super host. He's someone who truly enjoys hosting and knows how to make anyone feel comfortable. He offered to pick me up and drop me off at the Metro North station for a small fee, which I appreciated. I was able to accompany him to the Dutchess Country Fair where he won tons of ribbons for his gardening, photography and antique collection. How awesome is that? He even showed me around town. He's laid back, very accommodating, and keeps his home very clean. He had other guests in the house at the same time and we all ended up throwing a party one of the nights! Lastly, his three course breakfast will make you feel like you're getting spoiled! Honestly, staying at Troy's was great and I highly recommend anyone visiting Hyde Park to do so! I'll definitely be going back.

    Ariba2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Troy's home was a wonderful experience. He made me feel welcome and spent time making sure I had everything I needed. His home is lovely as is the neighborhood and Troy's personality adds to the fun of staying. When I first arrived he said, "We have fun here," and I did. Also, breakfast was amazing. I highly recommend staying with him.

    Ann2016-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • I can not recommend Troy's place enough. He has truly designed a Scandinavian wonderland in upstate NY. Everything about our stay here from the cozy evenings by the fire with his interesting books on Scandinavian design, the 5 star 3 course breakfast complete with glorious views of the mountains, the comfortable bed and access to laundry, his recommendations for weekend activities, and his two adorable and friendly dogs... everything was perfection. We will definitely be coming back again and again.

You’ll love our place because this will truly feel like your home away from home. You'll find a fully furnished, art deco/mid-century modern one bedroom apartment, fully equipped for all of your needs. We welcome everyone!
-Private entrance with keyless passcode entry -1 Bedroom with queen size bed -Spacious living room -Dining room for up to 4 guests -Newly renovated bathroom -Brand new appliances -Verizon Fios TV and Internet -Two off street parking spots -Outdoor patio and BBQ area -Air Conditioning -Fresh towels and linens -Iron -Blow Dryer -Coffee/Tea/Bottled Water
Built over 100 years ago as a chicken hatchery, this gorgeous little gem has been fully restored as a two-story guest cottage. Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only ten minutes from New Paltz Village & SUNY New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for those long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station or bring your bike up and cycle everywhere!
The Little Yellow Cottage displays much of it's original construction including post and beam, stained glass in the cupola (even an original stained glass portrait of Abraham Lincoln!) and a screened in porch for breakfast with a view or just hanging out. Inside you’ll find a spiral staircase and all the 21st century amenities you’d expect, including radiant in-floor heat, AC, TV, wi-fi and laundry in the full kitchen. One queen bed sleeps two on the ground level and one Murphy bed sleeps a single on the lower level. Private picnic table right outside. And the postal code may say Highland, but the Little Yellow Cottage is really in New Paltz!
Check out the funky art hub of New Paltz or SUNY New Paltz just 10 minutes away or climb the Shawanagunk Mountains 15 minutes away. You don’t even need a car! Bring your bike up on the bus or train and take a taxi ($12) to the Little Yellow Cottage. Cycle the 20 minutes into New Paltz or even spend a day on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail also just 20 minutes away. Talk a long walk on a quiet country road and snap a selfie at the tranquil Black Creek just a minute away.
  • We called it our little tree house in the woods, a beautiful yellow cottage that met all of our needs, was very relaxing, and had a lovely screened in porch where we had all of our meals. It was spotless with every amenity you could want, quiet, had bright natural light streaming in and was so convenient to New Paltz and all of the sights in the Hudson River Valley. Justin is a wonderful host and responded quickly to any issues that arose. My husband and I would gladly stay here again.

    Ellen2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • In addition to the charm factor and the pristine cleanliness of the cottage, the design of the interior was both unobtrusive and striking once you paid attention to it. The high ceiling in its cheerful light blue and white paint and all of the windows made the room seem much larger than it is, and the closets on either side of the bed were adorable and functional. Also terrific how everything fit in the attractive mini-kitchen/ laundry room/ extra bedroom downstairs. Many thoughtful touches throughout made it an extra special stay. Would love to return

  • Exactly as pictured, tiny house but very tasteful and just what we needed.

  • my boyfriend and I were looking for a weekend away from the city and found Justin's listing. the little yellow cottage was perfect! cozy, secluded and quiet, it was just what we needed. the pictures in the listing were great and the cottage was even better in person. justin provided a great guide in the cottage and gave us some personal recommendations for a quick bite as we were hungry when we arrived. it was really nice to have coffee and breakfast in the screened in porch and we had so many choices of trails and parks all within a 10 to 20 minute drive, which was really great we would highly recommend the little yellow cottage to anyone!

    Jane2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The yellow cottage is so charming! We loved the natural light and the screened in porch was amazing. Justin, thank you so much for the hospitality! We love your little place!

    Matthew2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic home. We were traveling through New York and found Justin's home to be conveniently near highways, the town of New Paltz, and more. One if the best Airbnb's we have ever stayed in. We were able to relax in many areas of this home especially the screened in porch. I highly recommend this home.

  • We didn't get to meet Veronie in person until we were leaving, but she could not have made the check in and check out process easier! Her place is so comfortable and relaxing, perfect for whatever amount of time you want to get away. The sitting area is delightful and the desk gives you the option to get any last minute work done you need to! Would absolutely stay again. Great area to visit and explore!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay! The location is absolutely perfect for anyone visiting the Hudson Valley Region - so very close to everything you would need (gas station, drug store, coffee shop, restaurants, shopping) or want to visit (historical sites, outdoor adventures). It was absolutely perfect! A great studio suite with a separate entrance through the garage, where we were permitted to park our vehicle! Everything we needed - a spacious studio set up with living area that included a super comfy couch and lounge, big screen TV, amazing wood burning fireplace, desk & chair, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker. And then around the corner was the bedroom area with the most amazing queen bed (best sleep ever!). And perfect bathroom (shower only, no tub) with washer/dryer! Everything you need for a short or long stay! Our hosts were friendly and accommodating. Provided us with bottled water, coffee with necessities, a log for the fireplace, and some toiletries. 100% satisfied. And a hearty recommendation to anyone thinking of staying here!

    Shelby2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • It's a basement apartment. There is not enough lighting anywhere, not even in the bathroom. I could not wear my makeup before an imp event. Bathroom tiles torn, so the place looks depressed. Didn't try the shower, because it didn't look very attractive. Tons of unnecessary fake flowers and other random do dads (decorative items). Makes you think it's all sitting there collecting dust. The arrangement of the furniture was also strange and street light shining in your eyes when in bed. It's okay if you are just looking for a clean bed, clean towels and nothing else. Overpriced.

This spacious suite is peaceful, & wooded with separate entrance, patio, wifi, full kitchen, bathroom (small shower), queen bed, sleeper sofia, TV (uses fire stick, wifi & blu-ray, no cable) Local (seasonal) sites to see: Walkway over the Hudson, FDR Home & Library (Hyde Park, 14 mi.away), Culinary Institute (11 Mi), Vassar College, Highland Landing Park, Old Kingston (original site of NYS Capital), SUNY New Paltz, Antique stores of NP, Huguenot Village, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mtn House.
We're unique because we live in a rural setting, yet within a few miles of - Mohonk, apple orchards, vineyards, 5 colleges, The Walkway Over the Hudson, etc. We also are 10 minutes from the train to NYC. *If you come from NYC by train - we offer pickup roundtrip for $10 (please make sure you ask if you need this.)
We fondly call our neighborhood, "the Outback," because we're in the woods. 1. The biggest plus is the peacefulness and we are centrally located near SUNY New Paltz and Vassar Colleges. There are also 2 community colleges nearby as well. 2. We regularly have a family of wild turkeys, deer, and red tailed hawks coming through the yard. Of course the usual chipmunks, ground hogs and squirrels. We even had a huge, beautiful large Owl land right outside the Suite window this past spring.
  • The hosts were very accommodating and kind. The room is a spacious basement apartment with its own entrance.

    Catyana2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Kit and Mark's place. The suite is spacious and well appointed, and the rural setting is calm and quiet. Kit wrote before we came to make sure she had provisions that matched our needs. And when we hadn't crossed paths after a couple of days she invited us upstairs for a meal -- above and beyond what we expect from an Airbnb host. Kit and Mark are generous with their time and advice, and it was a pleasure getting to know them.

    Virginia2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Kit and Mark provided everything and more that we needed for a comfortable stay. In addition the kitchen was unbelievably well stocked with food and utensils and they paid attention to our food preferences

    Carol2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • It's a lovely place! A cozy, quiet destination in the country for getting a break from the city and seeing some incredible Hudson River views and towns. I came up via Metronorth and Kit arranged to pick me up and drop me back off at the train station, which was incredibly helpful. Cozy touches like breakfast supplies, coffee, and decor that feels super homey made the trip a complete pleasure. The nearby Walkway Across the Hudson is a must-see for breathtaking views of the river valley. Would stay here again the next time I go north to the Hudson Valley!

    Kim2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful and cozy home! We saw deer, and heard frogs and it was the greatest experience!

    Bree2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our short stay at Kits! She and her husband were welcoming and friendly. The basement apartment had everything we needed. Kit was there to greet us, show us around and answer all our questions. Definitely recommend this place.

    Arianna2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying in Kit's place. Before our trip, I mentioned to Kit in a message that we were interested in apple-picking and wineries. When we arrived, Mark greeted us and remembered what I had said in the message, and gave us excellent recommendations. Kit was also very responsive to our inquiries. The place was clean and as described in the listing. The location is great, just a short drive to New Paltz, apple and pumpkin farms, wineries, and other points of interest.

    Cheryl2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Kit and Mark were both wonderful to work with during both the reservation and during the stay - very attentive hosts. We loved the quiet, country location and went walking every evening after returning from sightseeing. The pictures accurately depicted the daylight basement apartment. The beautiful newly remodeled kitchen was well-stocked with everything you would need to cook with. They also stocked the refrigerator with breakfast makings. We are vegan so didn't use everything that was generously provided. It was great to be able to do laundry midway through our trip.

  • This is a wonderful and unique airbnb. The privacy, the quality amenities, and especially the deck and view as you relaxed over (not just overlooking) the Hudson River made us want to never leave. We did in fact enjoy many meals we brought in rather than eat out. The proximity to Hyde Park activities was perfect. And Jim is very easy to communicate with. We enthusiastically recommend this as a couple's getaway!!.

    Craig2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible spot! Modern amenities, extremely clean, and the best view on the Hudson River. Centrally located to all the sights in Hyde Park. We loved coming back to this home after a long day of exploring. Jim was responsive and helpful providing lots of fun things to do in the area. We look forward to staying here again for our next visit to Hudson Valley!

  • Jim’s place was exactly as pictured. Impeccably clean, convenient and a pleasure to come home to. The train sounds in the area and The boats going by only added to the ambience. Would love to go back.

    Karen2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's place is amazing. The space was modern and perfectly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Huge windows show off a beautiful view of the Hudson River, and there's a deck (with a grill!) to get even closer to the water. The TV swivels so you can watch from the bed or the chairs in the living room area. Jim also included thoughtful extras, like shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower and bottles of water in the fridge. We didn't really use the kitchen during our stay, but there is a full kitchen! Jim's communication was prompt and helpful, he gave us lots of recommendations of places to go in the area, and the check-in process was very easy. Would definitely stay here again!!

    Beth2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first experience of Airbnb and we are now complete converts! We couldn’t have chosen a more amazing space. Jim really has thought of everything and has finished his property to a very high standard. He has made excellent use of the available space and with the added touches of the pull out TV and AC made our stay perfect. The view was spectacular, with a wall of windows facing the river, along with an amazing deck to sit and listen to the noise of riverlife and see boats, birds and fish jumping. We did not make use of the blinds as we preferred to let the view shine into the space day and night. The photos of the place are accurate but so much better in real life plus it was spotlessly clean. Thank you Jim for welcoming us, and we look forward to returning. Lesley and Dennis.

  • If you want to spend a few days in a private, immaculate oasis with magnificent views of the Hudson River, then this is the place for you. The cottage is small, cozy and it has all the modern amenities. Jim was a pleasant host to deal with and graciously accommodated all our requests. We will definitely visit again!

  • Jim is a fantastic host - very easy to contact and very attentive to details. This cottage is exceptional and the pictures don’t even do it justice! Very private, everything is new and clean, and the view is just beautiful! We are already trying to figure out when we can go back!

Comfortable room with lots of natural light. Located on the first floor of a 3 bedroom apartment in a private home. The quiet neighborhood is ideal for a peaceful get away, or if you are passing through to see the beautiful Hudson Valley.
The room has a full size bed, flat screen 19inch tv, basic cable, wifi, and complimentary snacks and wine. The home is located centrally to fine dining, shopping plazas, the galleria mall, Marist college, Vassar college, walkway over the Hudson, and many walking and riding trails. Vassar hospital is right up the street (5 minute walk)
The neighborhood is quiet and very clean. The area is perfect for family, dining, entertainment, or just relaxation.
  • Van was a great host. We never actually met him but he was always reachable by text to answer questions. The room was exactly how pictured. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. I would stay here again.

  • Good clean room and bed, good bathroom. Host left out some goodies, which was appreciated. The Air B&B rooms are the first floor of a rental house. Didn't really see our hear the upstairs people. Good location - easy check in and check out. Would stay again!

  • Van had a bottle of wine waiting for us-we don't drink but do value the welcoming intent. He provided clear check in directions. The room was a cozy space with a comfortable living room and kitchen with a table for two. And, it was a good value.

A snug, rustic getaway only 75 miles from New York City. Our newly renovated barn is near fine restaurants and the banks of the Hudson River. Visit Storm King or the Walkway over the Hudson, go hiking, travel our Craft Beverages, Distilleries and Wine Trail! Take in New Paltz, Hyde Park, Woodstock, Rhinebeck for fun shops, restaurants and history. A truly gracious space with top reviews, we are easy to get to by train or car and Uber is available. Have a wonderful getaway in the Hudson Valley!
I am told again and again that our photos don't reflect the beauty and size of the space. It is quite large and very pretty! We hope you will love the antiques, artwork, and amenities. Fully renovated, it has a large great room, a galley kitchen, a dining area, a lounging/TV area, a sitting and reading corner, and a queen sleeper sofa. The separate bedroom has a queen sized bed and a washer and dryer. There is a deck for lounging, al fresco dining and enjoying the gardens. We supply handmade soaps, fair trade coffee, and Sonoma linens and high speed wifi. We are located in an old Quaker part of the village of Milton. The barn was used for the gardens and greenhouses that were part of the original larger property. There are beautiful gardens all around the house and the river is at the foot of the hill! There is also a lake behind the house and an old Quaker cemetery next door. Very friendly neighbors! However this property is not a farm; it is in an active neighborhood with country life going on. The barn was originally used for the gardens, not farm animals. Since we live on property and have close neighbors we ask that you be respectful if you are returning late at night by being quiet and turning off outside lights. Unfortunately we don't feel that our space is suitable for children under 12.
We are very central to everything the Hudson Valley offers The Poughkeepsie train station is 5 miles away and taxis, Uber, car rental and Zipcars are available from the station. We are within a short driving distance from Vassar, Marist, SUNY New Paltz, and several other colleges and schools. A partial list of attractions and distances: In Milton and Marlborough We are very fortunate to have a world class music and art venue in the neighborhood. Please make sure to drop by THE FALCON for brunch or dinner, drinks, and amazing artwork and music! We also have many fine vineyards in town; you can visit them by following our very own Shawangunk Wine trail Bad Seed Hard Cider Tasting Orchards- Fruit picking Riverfront Park Nearby Another local claim to fame, the Walkway Over the Hudson, is in Highland NY, 4 miles north. It is the highest pedestrian walkway in the world and a breathtaking experience! Make sure to take it in, it is easy to find and has lots of parking. Rail Trail Biking and Hiking-Ulster and Dutchess County Fanny Reese Park- Highland NY. Hiking Minnewaska State Park, Gardiner NY. Hiking and Rock Climbing Poughkeepsie - 4 miles: The Bardovan Theater Shopping and Restaurants the Chance Theater Civic Center Locust Grove Historic home of Samuel Morse The Ranch Skydiving Gardiner NY New Paltz -10 miles Shopping and restaurants Hiking and Climbing the "Gunks" Hyde Park- 12 miles Shopping and Restaurants Franklin D Roosevelt Home Hyde Park- 12 miles Vanderbilt Mansion Hyde Park -13 mile Storm King Art Center Cornwall NY, 20 miles West Point Military Academy Tours and Museum- 24 miles Beacon NY- 14 miles Galleries and restaurants DIA Art Foundation Colleges Marist 7 miles Culinary Institute 9 miles (several restaurants on site, reservations required) Vassar- 9 miles Mount Saint Mary 11 miles SUNY New Paltz 11 miles Kingston is 15 miles away and there are just too many attractions to list but I will mention the Rondout waterfront is amazing and you can rent kayaks there at A Day Away Kayak Rentals. Amazing restaurants and Maritime museum, lighthouse tours, etc!
  • Jennie and her husband were welcoming and gracious. Their charming space is surprisingly large, yet comfortable and warm. There are unexpected details such as carved beams and old antique cabinetry in the kitchen. As nice as the listing photos look, we found it much lovelier in person. The location is great - close to many local attractions and conveniences. We plan on a returning.

  • Jennie was a great host and the place is excellent and recently renovated. The location is also convenient to nearby schools and attractions.

  • A very comfortable and peaceful place to stay. Highly recommended!

    Jaymin2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is beautiful. The perfect amount of seclusion from the big city, but close enough to restaurants and places in Milton. Jennie was extremely friendly and had great recommendations for things to do and places to eat at nearby.

    Brianne2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Jennie for sharing your home with us. We were very happy there - enjoying the art and creativity throughout the house!

  • This is such a lovely spot! We stayed for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. The bedroom was bright and clean, and the living room has a rustic chic charm with plenty of seating. It's a charming place to stay and an excellent location for exploring the area.

  • Self check-in was easy to follow, the downstairs house is used only for airbnb rooms, so it was nice to chat to other guests while still having privacy as you aren't in someone's primary home. Was a good spot to have an overnight stay to break up the journey between Niagara and New York. Would recommend.

    Megan2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great value! We stayed the night and had dinner at the Culinary Institute. It was a ten minute drive. Van’s check in instructions were very clear and communication was great. The only thing is that the room got quite hot at night, but we turned the fan on, and that did the trick.

    Miranda2018-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place is near to station. We personally did not enjoy the stay. The bed is also not very comfortable.

  • It was my pleasure to stay in Van's place.

    Özgün2016-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Overall a nice and convenient stay. He left us a bottle of wine which was more than generous and the place was clean and the same as the pictures. We were in Poughkeepsie for an event at Chance Theatre and this was a short walk from the venue. Such a convenient spot! I never met Van but he was quick to reply with any questions I had. He messaged me detailed instructions on how to get in upon arrival. Although, I was a little frustrated because I came from out of country and when I realized he wasn't home I had to turn my phone on to contact. This is when I saw the detailed instructions, however, I will now have to pay the data roaming charges. I was also unaware that this home was strictly for air bnb rentals and there were other tenants staying in neighboring rooms. I had no problems with this, everyone was friendly, it was just a total shock to have a random person walk into the apartment. The mattress was not comfortable at all and we had problems with getting the tv working but all in all served its purpose as a place to crash for some tired festival goers.

    Diana2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Van’s Place was a great place to stay the night in Poughkeepsie. He was very hospitable and the place was clean. Would stay again.

A bright and cozy private apartment on a quiet street 1 mile from the center of New Paltz and the Thruway exit.
Private patio also includes pot belly wood burning stove and barbecue is available. We don’t have a full kitchen but we do provide Keurig coffee maker, microwave, fridge, toaster, and large toaster oven.
Kayak spots: Wallkill River, right at the bottom of town. Has parking, picnic tables and landing ramp down to river. https://goo.gl/maps/u3PcaT1YLx22 Black Creek, about 5 minutes east of here. • Tom and Mo's place was fantastic! It's an amazing value. The price is great, the location can't be beat, and the thoughtful touches they include are heartwarming (OJ, water, English muffins, chips, etc.). We can't wait to come back for another visit. An added bonus, Tom offered us tickets for the Walkway over the Hudson fireworks show. We were too busy to take them up on the offer, but it was very thoughtful!

    Adam2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was possibly the best Airbnb experience we've had after 3 years of using Airbnb. The place was spacious yet cozy and absolutely spotless. Lots of nice touches: snacks, bottled water, soap, etc. Highly recommended.

  • Very clean, spacious area. Very quick to respond to my texts. Everything was just as presented. This was my first AirBnB experience. My only complaint is that it may be difficult to find another one that would compare. Thanks for a great stay, Tom and Mo!

  • Lorraine was extremely hospitable and welcoming during our 1-night stay in Poughkeepsie. The only downside was that there were a total of 3 bedrooms being rented in Lorraine's home at the same time, and we were all sharing 1 full bathroom. Luckily, no conflicts over bathroom needs, but I was worried there would be.

    Nancy2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nice house in safe neighborhood. I even had time for a swim in the pool during the 90 degree weather.

  • Staying with Loraine and Paul was a delightful experience! You really become a part of their family when you visit. Loraine was the most gracious host I have every had the privilege to meet! There are too many examples to list them all - but here is the highlight reel. My daughter and I booked for one room - but Loraine set up a queen size inflatable mattress in her living room so that my daughter could have her own space. Loraine is a wonderful chef and invited us to dine with her an Paul for some brilliant meals - her habanero spiced quiche was smokey and delicious! Loraine and Paul make you feel like you are visiting your coolest long lost relatives! Very Many Thanks! We will be back soon!

    Adam2015-09-07T00:00:00Z

My warm & inviting ranch home has a true homey feeling. It comfortably accommodate 4 people (please unreported guest will be charged extra $15 per person per night just be honest about it); located in heart of Hyde Park. Just mins to Culinary Institute of America and Marist College; perfect for parents attending graduations or orientations , FDR Presidential Library, Vanderbilt Mansion and Walkway over the Hudson all within mins away.
This beautiful newly renovated ranch has 2 bedrooms and a good size bathroom with laundry unit; fully equipped kitchen with outdoor fenced in patio. There's a 2 good size sofas for guests in the living room to hang out and watch the ball games. There is a dining table will seat 4 people and 2 extra bar stools with island in the kitchen.
This neighborhood was built 1950s; its literally 3 mins from FDR Presidential Library by car. 6 mins from Vanderbilt Mansion, Culinary Institution of America about 3 mins drive and that makes this house so appealing
  • Cynthia's home was exactly as pictured. It was very clean. It was the perfect location for our purposes - we walked to FDR's library and home and is within walking distance to a grocery store as well. I would definitely stay again. Thank you, Cynthia!

    Amanda2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a weekend trip along the Hudson River and super close to Rhinebeck! We stayed in Cynthia's place as it was one of the only locations with vacancy the weekend of the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Festival. It was our first Airbnb stay and couldn't have asked for anything better. The house was just a short drive from the Dutchess County Fairgrounds and near great places to eat and shop. The house was just the right fit for 2 couples and was EXTREMELY clean and welcoming. Cynthia was so easy to get in touch with and even had little snacks and drinks available upon our arrival. It definitely had everything we needed and then some. We will be sure to come back again and recommend her place to anyone we know heading upstate.

    Alison2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Place was great, however had a few bumps in communication, for one night the space was smaller than we thought for the price, but owners were able to speak and work with us.

    Maggie2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia went above and beyond what was expected. She anticipated everything we might need. Very comfortable - highly recommended!

    Patrick2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I definitely felt welcomed at Cynthia's place. She gave us full access to her entire home and the appliances in it. And there was a lovely basket with goodies for us. The neighborhood was very quiet and made our time together very intimate. It was lovely.

    Tamarah2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Cozy Ranch in Hyde Park. The host (Cynthia) was very communicative and understanding of our desire to bring our dog on this trip. All of our email communications were timely and check-in/check-out went very smoothly. The house is really very nice, with a kick-ass kitchen (really good if you're staying more than a couple of days). There were snacks, water, and basics around for cooking (oil, salt). It was super clean on arrival, and the bed sheets and comforters were soft and everything was comfortable there. The bathroom was roomy and has a washer/dryer (which we did not use, but they were new and pretty slick). The WiFi is also pretty damn good. The only minor thing we ran into was the refrigerator runs very cold - and a few items in the refrigerator compartment froze. This wasn't a huge deal, but we want potential renters to know about it in case they plan on a lot of refrigerated goods - maybe it can be adjusted to a higher temp than I was able to do. The driveway had good parking, the lawn was very well kept, and the you can almost throw a stone and hit the CIA campus from there. It's also only a few minutes to downtown and Marist. We would highly recommend the property, and expect to return ourselves the next time we visit the area (a couple times a year, usually).

    Rich2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We will definitely be using Cynthia's home again. The home was exactly like the pictures. It was very clean and comfortable. My parents stayed there with my fiancé and I, and they were very impressed I found this place. There were even snacks, k-cups, and drinks in the fridge. We look forward to our next stay here!

  • The place is truly one of a kind. If you love old barns with modern conveniences, this place is it. Your hosts are great to deal with and truly have a made the Red Barn a very special place...relaxing and so comfy. It exceed our expectations...they have thought of everything you could need to make a very enjoyable getaway out in the country. Kitchen is well equipped. Beds are so comfortable with lovely linens. Bathroom is big and spacious with toiletries, hairdryer and a great big whirlpool tub. Plenty of space to kick back and relax both inside the barn and out. Lovely patio area with soaking pool and fire pit on beautiful grounds that face the marsh. You truly can't go wrong with this place, exactly as pictured in Airbnb and more.

    Jen2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Red Barn is a great place to stay. Great hospitality, wonderful amenities and we love the area, really good food and activities.

    Alex2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin? As someone said in a previous review, Ray and Irene have raised the bar for airbnb experiences. We were up for Vassar graduation as well as moving our youngest out of his college. We had a very busy schedule which meant that the thoughtful and copious food selection, bottle of wine, well-equipped kitchen, stylish immaculate bathroom, lovely soaps and bubble bath, etc were all much appreciated. Everything you need if you are attending functions. BUT then when we had time for fun, we had a lovely lovely view, firepit (Irene delivered fresh smore's ingredients), swimming tub, grill, fishing and canoeing! We just had such a good time hanging out and relaxing between our events. Thank you to Ray and Irene!

    Mary Beth2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We recommend the Red Barn to anyone seeking a relaxing getaway. It was honestly our best Airbnb stay so far! Beautifully renovated, this place offers plenty of character, space, natural light and nature views all around. The hosts are so thoughtful and kind. We felt pampered by the personalized welcome sign, bottle of wine, generous food basket and fridge full of yummy goodies, fresh farm eggs, plush towels, a jacuzzi tub, and Alexa who played DJ all weekend long. During the day, we drove to the nearby FDR Estate to visit the library/museum and walk around the grounds, then to the Culinary Institute of America for lunch. Most of our stay though was at the Red Barn: lots of reading, lots of music, a movie, bubble baths, cooking, napping. Our version of a perfect weekend!

  • Peace and quiet, comfortable bedding, towels, breakfast basics and snacks, plus all the amenities you need to feel at home. We had a great stay and this was my second visit.

  • Ray and Irene are the kindest and most hospitable hosts I have ever met. My girlfriend, pup and I decided to head north from the big city to get some peace and quiet. We took the train, due to not owning a vehicle. Ray and Irene went so far as to ask us how we were getting to their spot, in which they offered to pick us up and give us a ride. They were so kind as to even show us some of the best local attractions and give us tips on the way to the location. They were extremely helpful, kind, and offered to let us know if they needed anything. Once we got into the barn, it was spectacular. The space is one of a kind, with all kinds of personality and stylish touches. They even had a hand-written welcome sign paired with a dog bed and bone ready for our pup. They supplied us with wine, breakfast, snacks and even farm-fresh eggs that were laid that very morning. We could not have asked for more. It was an extremely calm, peaceful and relaxing weekend. We will definitely be booking with Ray and Irene again to experience the location in various seasons. It is simply a beautiful piece of land. We can't wait!

  • Ray and Irene's place is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. My husband and I with my two boys arrived in the beginning of June and everything is green, flowers blooming, birds flying around with amazing colors. We were greeted as we arrived and showed around with such warmth in our reception. The place feels like home, well decorated with the perfect details. Everything we needed was there and more! There were even fresh eggs from the chicken coop. Ray let my kids get some more themselves and they loved it. The lake is amazing. My husband loves fishing with the boys and they all caught bass and sunfish. In the evenings, we made Smores by the fire pit, all tools and ingredients provided by Ray and Irene. I can't wait to go back and spend another vacation there!

  • Convenient location very near but not in downtown. Cozy flat nicely decorated with art, nicnacs, antiques and comfortable furniture. Windows on all sides.

  • We had a great stay at Seth’s place! It was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, zero clutter, and easy check in. Seth’s recommendations were really helpful! We saw a few local attractions (Hudson walkway) and ate at some great restaurants — Brasserie 292 and the Poughkeepsie Grind. Everything was a close drive 5-15 minutes away.

  • I stayed at The Poet: Guest House Apartment from November 7th (Friday) - November 9th (Sunday) with my gf as a nice weekend getaway from the city. My main focus for lodging in the Hudson Valley was the following: - Clean, modern lodging. Antiques are great, but didn't want to stay at grandma's place - Good location, somewhere close to Vassar College, Hudson Valley attractions (Vanderbilt, FDR Home, Walkway over the Hudson) and restaurants - Good rate and parking availability since I was driving up from NYC Feedback: Seth's place checked all three effortlessly. As a first-time Airbnb user, I was a little apprehensive in using the service. However, after contacting Seth regarding my interest, any concerns quickly diminished. Seth was very helpful and knowledgeable about the Hudson Valley (he writes for a blog) and provided plenty of suggestions of things to do, restaurants, etc. Apt: There are two apartments in the home, my gf and I stayed in the 2nd floor one. Our experience was awesome. Both apartments have separate entrances and are very private. There was a driveway that can be used by either guests and the home is located on a quiet neighborhood street. Pictures by Seth are 100% accurate to the apartment. It's evident that Seth has taken significant effort in the detailing and styling of the apartment. Although the home is older, it's the little details that count. Girlfriend was very impressed and for that matter I've taken notes on my own place here in city (read: not as stylish or cool as Seth's). The kitchen is practical and stocked, bathroom has a rainforest shower head (nice touch), and the living room is stylish and comfortable. There's a nice flat screen in the living room hooked up to Apple TV (instead of cable), which works fine for me (I'm more of an a la carte TV viewer). Wifi is available throughout the apartment and works great. I could definitely see myself staying again with friends, this place is just so well laid out. Though I didn't personally meet with Seth during my stay, I never felt disconnected. He was very responsive and provided instructions on everything (key pick-up/drop-off, towels, even toiletries). Not sure if this is how all my Airbnb experiences will be, but so far, I'm a big fan.

  • Seth was a fantastic host, communicative and so helpful, providing lots of tips for restaurants and activities in the area. The house is so lovely and perfectly decorated, and the location was really convenient for exploring Poughkeepsie and the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Seth was a great host, ready to welcome and help his guests. His house is lovely and homely.

  • We really enjoyed our time at Seth's guest house! It was very clean and comfortable and the perfect home base while we explored Upstate New York. Seth was an amazing host! He was very prompt with responses and recommended a wonderful variety of local restaurants and nearby towns and shops to explore--this really enhanced our trip. Thanks, Seth!

  • Our stay at The Poet was excellent. Seth was a great host and made sure we had all the necessities. My friends and I were returning for Alumni Weekend at Vassar so it was a perfect location. The house was so nicely decorated. I told Seth I would ask him for design ideas when remodeled my condo one day. Had one problem turning on the heat, but Seth was quick to resolve the issue and we were good to go. Thanks so much for a lovely stay. Would definitely stay here again!

    Deidre2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Seth was an excellent host and the space was exactly what we were expecting. Seth even went so far as to send us a very detailed list of things to do and places to go in the area, which was incredibly helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone planning a trip to the area!

  • Clean and comfortable, great for a single person or couple staying for a short time. Her cat is super friendly and Mariama was a helpful host, giving suggestions about the local area.

    Kevin2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mariama is a very warm, friendly and lovely host. Before my arrival she was easy to comunícate with and she was helpful and provided me with the information i needed for my stay. The location is 5-10 min drive from Poughkeepsie center but it's easy to get around with an uber if you don't have a vehicle and Mariama is happy to drive to supermarket and train station if she is available. The house is located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood and has a little garden that I really appreciated. The room I stayed in was cosy with a comfortable bed. I stayed with Mariama for 6 weeks and I felt like home already after a few days. Im gonna miss the house, her and Oreo (her super sweet cat that comes cuddling with you when you need company) and will definitely stay there again if I get the chance to come back!

    Josefin2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mariama was kind enough to accept my lodging request and accommodate me despite a change in her personal schedule. Her and her son were lovely hosts. The house had private and street parking, so finding a spot was never an issue. Oreo the cat was gentle and friendly. Before arriving I was worried about there being cat hair everywhere, but if it wasn't for me seeing the cat occasionally, and it's food dish, I wouldn't have realized they had one. Another gem was that my bedroom had a lock with a key that I could take with me. That made me feel safe. Thanks for everything!

This lovingly furnished home in Hyde Park NY overlooks the magnificent Hudson River in a very quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Vanderbilt estates. It comfortably accommodates two guests.
Beautiful Historic House on Hudson River This furnished home in Hyde Park NY overlooks the magnificent Hudson in a very quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Vanderbilt estates. The property includes a beautiful garden with stunning views of the river and it is located directly across the street from a park with swings and a gazebo. The house was built in 1865 and is fully renovated. It is a one to two bedroom home with a porch and a balcony, a/c and includes all appliances (washer/dryer, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, highspeed internet with WiFi, cable tv, dvd). This romantic getaway is 10 minutes by car from the Poughkeepsie train station, with Metro North running hourly trains to Grand Central, a relaxing 90-minute train ride along the river. It is a 20-minute drive from Rhinebeck. Hyde Park's main street known as Albany Post Road or Rt. 9 is half a mile away, within walking distance. There you can enjoy breakfast at the local café and shop fresh produce at the Saturday Farmers' Market. The Hyde Park post office across the street from the café is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its construction was personally overseen by FDR and it houses murals depicting local history. If you're interested in natural wonders, rent a kayak or canoe from the River Connection nearby. Under their supervision you can depart with a guide through whom you will gain access to the tiny private harbor in front of your vacation home, to embark on a once in a lifetime excursion rowing yourself up and down the mighty Hudson and exploring the estuary up close. After working up an appetite, enjoy a fine meal at a local gourmet restaurant, a truly delicious steakhouse, or visit the renowned Culinary Institute of America within a five-minute drive. Our home is directly located on the Hyde Park Walkabout Trail which leads straight to the Vanderbilt Estate in one direction, and the FDR estate in the other direction. On his way commuting from his job in Albany as Governor of New York, legend has it that FDR was known to sip the occasional cocktail on our balcony with his friend, the former owner of our house who happened to be a hound-keeper working for the Vanderbilts. FDR's train stopped right in front of our door. The train doesn't make stops there anymore, but the tiny station still stands and has been converted into a very unique train museum. Entrance to the Vanderbilt Estate is within a 7-minute walk from our house. The boundary of the FDR Estate is a 20-minute walk away. A path into the woods of the estate provides a lovely way of approaching the Roosevelt home and library which is another 40-minute walk away. From here you can also proceed to Eleanor Roosevelt's Val Kill, depending on how early you head out. The bedroom is upstairs and has a queen-size bed. French doors lead into a study with a day bed and a desk facing the river. This house is the perfect place for a retreat, to spend time with friends, to wine and dine in a kitchen overlooking the river (see photo with the sailboat shot from the window above the kitchen sink) to read, write, and take long, beautiful walks.
  • Had an amazing time in the hudson valley as usual. My favorite place on the east coast by far. The house added immensely to the visit. Quant house right on the river with the feel of the Vanderbilt era. It really makes you feel like they could come strolling over and fit right in. The house is huge and welcoming. Both eve the owner and sue the property manager are extremely helpful and quick to respond. I can't wait to stay again soon. What a great place... Seriously better than any hotel in the area and you have an entire place to yourself.. Washer and dryers to boot! Also loved the no cable aesthetic.. Made you enjoy the scenic porch. Quiet place nestled beside the Vanderbilt estate across from a little park and on the river... Perfect hideaway right in the middle of everything in the hudson valley!

    Ellen2013-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Eve's home was just lovely. My fiance and I enjoyed our stay there very much. The porch allowed for a great view of the Hudson, and the house was in close proximity to the Culinary Institute, the FDR Museum, and the Hyde Park Farmer's Market!

    Joanna2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The House on the Hudson is just as promised-charming and very welcoming. Eve has done a great job of working with her neighbor, Jane, to make sure guests feel welcome and that all details are taken care of. Jane checked with us throughout our stay and made sure we were well informed about the house and the local attractions. The house is wonderfully situated on the river and for any train aficionados, you get a great view many times a day of AmTrack rolling down the tracks! The historic significance of the station that is right there should not be underestimated!

  • It was a wonderful place!

    Sara2013-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful weekend in this lovely restored house on the Hudson. The location is very convenient, and the view of the Hudson is wonderful. The house is a perfect combination of antique and updated, nicely furnished and comfortable. Eve and Sue both answered our questions and were helpful and welcoming. We hope to return for another long weekend in the future.

    Margherite2013-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • As described, Eve's house is a homey space that was very comfortable for two, and served as a great central landing place for the weekend visiting family in the Hudson Valley. The views of the river and the access to the park and walking trail are excellent. All the details in arranging the stay were handled in an attentive and professional manner. While we didn't get to meet Eve, her neighbor Jane communicated regularly and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Hope to stay again during a future visit to the area.

    Nancy2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved Eve's home, and are so happy we got the chance to stay there. The porch views are wonderful, and it's an easy walk into town. We wish we could have stayed longer than a week! One of our favorite parts was the state fair, although the local antiquing and historical mansions nearby were close behind. We hope to come back in the fall for the foliage, the place is surrounded by such beautiful forests. I highly recommend staying here!!

    Anna2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great period house in a quiet neighborhood, with unobstructed view of the Hudson River across the street. Walk to Vanderbilt Mansion and (a little bit longer) walk to FDR Library. This was all perfect for our weekend getaway. House was very clean and host was accommodating and informative. We would definitely stay there again. Our favorite part was just sitting on the front porch with a glass of wine watching the river flow.

  • This place is an amazing value. Wonderful accommodating hosts; awesome location next to the Hudson bridge walkway, restaurants, and hiking trails; super clean; and our hosts prepared one of the most delicious breakfasts I have ever had in my life. Our hosts went above and beyond in every respect.

  • I stayed here with my wife and mother in law. Our host Neelam was very nice and hospitable. The bedrooms were private, and the beds were very comfortable. Neelam even offered to make us breakfast in the morning, but since we already had plans, she provided us with smoothies instead. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

  • AMAZING EXPERIENCE. they were the nicest hosts I have ever had. The house is very clean. The bedroom was super comfortable, with many pillows. Location was great, and there was private off street parking which was super convenient. I plan om staying here again when I am in the area.

  • Although we have used Airbnb in the past, this is the first time we have ever stayed in a guest room in someone’s house. We could not have asked for a better experience. Rocky and Neelam are absolutely lovely people and wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome in their beautiful and clean home. Upon arrival we were offered beverages and pastries. Our room was nice and air-conditioned and we were able to use the adjoining bedroom which fit our daughter’s travel crib. In the morning Neelam made us the most incredible Indian breakfast. We enjoyed our time talking with Rocky & Neelam. We became fast friends and we were sad our visit was only for one night. Next time we find ourselves in Poughkeepsie, we absolutely hope to stay here again. Thank you for opening up your home to us and we look forward to seeing you again!

  • The perfect interruption to our busy New York lives for stillness, rest and rejuvenation - a cottage filled with love. My boyfriend and I were looking for a getaway weekend and stumbled upon this gem. Nna and Billiam's renovated barn is a thousand times better than the listing let's on. We were met by Billiam upon arrival with hot water bottles, tea and a bowl filled with apples from Billiam's farm. Beyond the warm welcome, the cottage was spotless, we had access to great restaurants and farmer's markets, and certainly found the peace we were looking for. This is AirBnb done right. We will definitely be back soon!

    Morag + Terrance2015-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nna and Billiam's cottage was the most lovely experience I ever had on AirBnb. We arrived earlier than scheduled but they managed to meet us in time. The 2-story house is roomy and looks bigger than on the pictures. There are many lovely little vintage decor in the room. Full of surprises. The surrounding is extremely safe, quiet and beautiful. We are welcomed to park on the premise. The house is close to FDR museum, Vanderbilt Mansion and the Hyde Park. It is a great place for retreat!

    Zach2016-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Love is in the details and that is exactly why I fell in love with this place. The pictures speak for themselves but what people don't get to see are the small things like board games available or magazines and and an array of books. The bathroom was impeccable but what I loved the most about was that all the products such as soaps and shampoos were all vegan and environmentally friendly. And of course last by not least is the welcome. I've never felt so welcomed at stranger's place as much as I did by Billiam. Thank you! Definitely returning!

    Cin2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space and location, perfect for a couple. Kitchen furnishings were a bit sparse but we made do. New Paltz is a cute town everything you may need is within a ten minute drive.

    Julianne2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin surrounded by orchards in a gorgeous town. Near enough to cab in and out of New Paltz, with walking trails nearby too - that being said, we hardly left the cabin which is a stunningly converted barn / garage. The attention to detail in the design, beautiful furniture, and cozy atmosphere were so relaxing we rarely wanted to leave. For four young women escaping the city, it was ideal, and Nna was so helpful with check-in, check-out, advice and guides to the local area and everything in between. I know we'll be planning to go back there in summer / fall - highly recommend!

    Rachael2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, and great hosts. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to explore the area.

  • All my expectations were exceeded! Nna was an amazing communicator--especially since he was out of town. And Billiam was so welcoming, gracious, and accommodating! The bottle of wine he placed in the fridge for us was above and beyond (not to mention tasty). Billiam even invited us outo to Liberty View for a tour and apple picking. Can't wait for a reason to come back!

  • Well organized, comfortable place to stay at the right price.

  • Great place and had everything I needed.

    Leo2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • There were pros and cons to my stay: Pros: the place is generally clean except for dust, it's about 1/2 mile from the metro north train which is very convenient, the key was left in a space where I could access it late at night so I could check in whenever I wanted to, and it's large and spacious. Cons: the host Van was good with communication until the night of my stay, I messaged him with a question early in the evening and he ignored my message. The next day he messaged me asking me to check the internet router that it was plugged in, so I mentioned to him that he had ignored me the night before, and there was no apology from him and he didn't take any responsibility for ignoring me. It's listed as having a full kitchen, that's true, but the kitchen isn't very helpful when there isn't a single pot/pan/plate/silverware in the whole place.... The biggest con: FUTURE GUESTS NOTE: I got bed bug bites all over me after the first night and had to cancel my second night. I had to sterilize all of my clothes and belongings, it was very time consuming and I got no sleep the following night dealing with it. Van pretended not to know anything about the bugs, but there was bedbug spray under the kitchen sink. I feel bad having to blast this on his listing, but I think that future guests should be warned...I called airbnb and they said that they will verify the bedbug issue from the photos I sent them, and they will require that he get the place professionally cleaned. As a prospective guest, you should probably call airbnb first and make sure this was done. Van should also purchase the special coverings for pillows and mattress which do not let bedbugs in, and the bed should be moved away from the wall and curtains, not touching them. I have stayed at an airbnb before which had a bedbug problem so I know some of the things that need to be done. I hadn't dealt with bedbugs for a very long time, until I stayed the one night at Van's unfortunately. If he can take care of the bug problem, cleaning and communication, it will be a fine place, I hope this was a learning experience for him.

  • It is very peaceful n relaxing when I am there I feel like home!

    Francesca 2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely recommend! My husband and I went to Poughkeepsie for a bike ride on June 25th, we asked Van to drop off our bikes at his place the day before so we could explore the city more freely. He was very flexible in letting us drop the bikes off earlier than check in time and even gave us the keys around that time. The apartment was clean and comfortable, with a newly-renovated kitchen and bathroom, which were very nice to use. Our room was also comfortable and had a good AC. Quiet, safe neighborhood, about 10-15min walking distance to main places in the city.

    Thaís2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Van's place after a wedding and it was just what we were looking for! Nice clean apartment with spacious bedroom - loved the peach wine! Check in/out was easy. Would definitely recommend!

    Selina2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Greg2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, convenient, and affordable, with only one minor inconvenience. I must qualify by stating that I actually spent very little time at Van's place because I was in town for a conference. I got in late and left early in the AM, so really was only there to sleep. The space and linens were very clean and the room had a very pleasant scent. The street was quiet and within easy walking distance to Downtown Poughkeepsie where I spent most of my time while in town. There was a small inconvenience at the time of check-in where I did not have the proper directions and thus had to guess which set of keys and room were mine. I did arrive 30 minute prior to the official check-in, but this was OK'd at the time of booking and reconfirmed on the morning of check-in. In the end, I unknowingly put myself in the wrong room, but this was taken care of by Van and I believe he coordinated with the other visitors to get them into a different room.

Cottage is centrally located to all Hudson Valley attractions; natural adventures to culture. Located in peaceful setting - acres of wildflower meadow with strolling paths, woods, birds and wildlife. 4 Minutes from "Walkway Over the Hudson" !
The cottage is light, airy, contemporary and comfy. Feels like a secluded setting but it's a stone's throw from all major Hudson Valley attractions.
Serenity and seclusion if you want it, people and activity if you don't!
  • Elise was a wonderful host. The pictures of the cottage didn't do it justice. It is an ideal place for a weekend get away for any couple. Elise was incredibly accommodating, providing all of the essentials and luxuries you would want or need. She even planned a custom weekend itinerary for me and my girlfriend, which we followed exactly, full of great suggestions. This cottage was fantastic, I hope to visit again in the future.

    Andrew2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Elise's guest house was a perfect retreat for our weekend in New York. It's a little off the beaten path, but close to everything we needed. We were in town for a wedding in Poughkeepsie, so we didn't get to explore nearby attractions, but gas and groceries were very convenient and there's a great cafe, Frida's Bakery, within a short drive. The guest house itself was clean and adorable, and very thoughtfully stocked--a real home away from home. Elise made sure we had what we needed and provided all the information for the house and the area when we arrived. It was a great stay!

    Sarah2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Elise's guest cottage is beautifully located in a wooded area, perfect for appreciating the spectacular fall color in the Hudson Valley. Great space for two with a modernized bathroom and very comfortable bed. Elise had a detailed list of items in the cottage as well as attractions and restaurants in the surrounding area. She was great to communicate with and always answered our text questions quickly. The added bonus was the use of two bikes and helmets to explore the area, particularly the Walkway Over the Hudson. I hope my husband has business in Poughkeepsie again so that we can come back and stay at this relaxing little cottage.

    Anne2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Elise was such a thorough delight as a host, who went above and beyond at every level. When we chatted by phone to arrange me and my girlfriend's arrival, and mentioned that I was coming in by train, she immediately offered a ride. On the day of, she picked us up, showed us around Poughkeepsie and Highland and pointed out trails we could check out, and took us to the local super market so we could buy food for the weekend. The apartment was stocked with cheeses, bottled water, a bottle of local white wine, crackers, apples, and a number of other things. There was also a map that we consulted for our hikes on Saturday. And, on top of everything, she provided a set of printed materials including WiFi password, restaurant recommendations, etc. And the cottage itself - so cute! The entire experience was amazing, and I wholeheartedly recommend this AirBnb!

  • Elise's place was great! She was a great host and we loved the spot. We got up there later than planned but Elise made sure we were setup, giving great directions. She gave great recommendations for the local area, and the cottage is kept in great condition, very clean, making for a very relaxing, comfortable stay. Highly, highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in the area!

    Michael2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Elise’s house is perfect! It is so cozy, and inviting. It was sparkling clean, and the decor is adorable. We spoke briefly with Elise when we arrived, and she was so sweet and helpful. It is conveniently located to many Hudson Valley activities. So many things to do within a 30 minute drive. We did things in Beacon, Hyde Park, New Paltz, Marlboro, Newburgh and Poughkeepsie. I would absolutely stay here again. Maybe in the fall next time to see the beautiful foliage. Thank you, Elise!

    Jacqueline2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Elise's cottage is wonderful! I stayed for a little over a week with a friend to get away from the city and write (we are both grad students). It was really perfect and exceeded our expectations. It is spacious, clean, modern, and charming. We didn't have a car, but it was easy to walk to the grocery store or to hiking in the area. Would definitely go back!!

    Frances2017-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely fantastic! So beautifully decorated and very comfortable atmosphere. My husband and I were in town for my best friend's wedding. It was a great location to go exploring the area. Elise was a wonderful host. Communication was great, and we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect! Highly recommend

  • Linda's place was perfect for a wedding we were going to. The suite was wonderful! Clean and welcoming felt like home. Linda was very friendly and easy to work with, great communication. Definitely recommend staying here.

    Nicolle2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Linda's place when I traveled from NC to attend some family functions and visit some dear friends I hadn't seen in 23 years since my move from Poughkeepsie. Linda's place was perfect for me. Plenty of space and very centrally located to all of the events I attended. The booking process all the way through text communication during the trip was quick and easy. Linda's house is in a great neighborhood, and you really have complete privacy with a separate entrance to the apartment. I would not hesitate staying with Linda again the next time I plan to visit the area.

    Lynn2018-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place is very comfortable and a very good value. It is as described: an in-law-like apartment (without the kitchen) that is very comfortable and private. Linda's communication before our arrival was great, and we were glad we got a chance to meet her; she is a warm and gracious host.

    Kevin2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Linda is so kind and accommodating.

    Athena2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's basement apartment was clean and comfortable, and Linda was a kind and accommodating host. We stayed for a night with our pup and found it a great way to have a short weekend in the greater Poughkeepsie area. The apartment was quiet and private and was a short distance from route 9 and right off 376. Next time we are in the area, we'll consider coming back to stay at Linda's!

    Patrick2016-12-11T00:00:00Z

  • We had a lovely stay at the pump house! George was a very accommodating and attentive host, answering many questions we had before arriving and greeting us with a basket of fruit, wine and lovely jazz. The house was very clean and comfortable and the setting truly unique. We would definitely recommend it to our friends!

    Jennifer2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The pumphouse is a one-of-a-kind place. George thought of everything, with snacks and a list of nearby restaurants prepared.

    Geesoo2016-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • This creekside getaway is truly a unique place that feels like a step back in time, but with the modern amenities needed for a comfortable stay. There was a handwritten happy birthday note, as well as soft music and lighting, ready to greet us upon arrival. We made use of the outdoor fire pit and hammock, and snacked on complimentary cookies and hot chocolate as well! I would definitely recommend this retreat if you are looking for a cozy, restful space to get back in touch with nature and your loved one.

    Vanessa2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Pure bliss! I only stayed here one night and just wanted some place to completely relax - this was even better. From the moment you walk in the door it is perfect. A lovely place and great location.

  • Such a unique space! Very clean and the craftsmanship was gorgeous. Only stayed one night but loved the setting, had a fire by the river and slept in a comfy bed. George was very responsive and a great host. Loved the wine and fruit waiting for us. Thank you!

    Kyle2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so perfect! It was relaxing, the amenities were great and super useful. I only wish I could have stayed for longer!

  • The most unique and comfortable place to stay in Wappingers.

    Spiro2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the Pump House! The house was immaculate and there were thoughtful touches throughout. A bottle of wine was chilled for us in the refrigerator and fresh bathrobes were waiting for us when we arrived. The location is definitely unique in that it's situated around an old print house from yesteryear, which we really enjoyed and found charming. The town of Wappinger's Falls is quiet and quaint, with a nice main strip close to the Pump House with coffee shops and restaurants. Everyone in town was helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend the House of Pump!

Quiet neighborhood centrally located 5 minutes from Marist, CIA, Vassar, and route 9. Top selections of restaurants in the area to choose. Newly renovated 3br home. Cozy w lots of character. Private parking for guests. Enjoy the very best of the Hudson Valley, and feel at home doing so.
It is quiet and clean. There is also a ceiling fan in each room with original hard wood flooring. Lots of character throughout. Modern appliances, toiletries, and basic everyday living essentials provided. To express our appreciation for choosing our home, a bottle of wine is provided for our guests. The kitchen, bathroom, and living area are all shared spaces. Enjoy!
Our home is quiet and yet close to everything, i.e...restaurants, theater, colleges, hospital, and shopping mall. Ideal location for great dining, family entertainment as well as local pubs. The home is on a quiet street near Vassar Hospital in the historic district of Poughkeepsie. It is also within 10 minutes driving distance to FDR and the Vanderbilt Estate, which are both excellent for picnics and walks/tours of the property. The home is with a 5 minute WALK to the Metro North train station, Mid Hudson Civic Center, and Walkway over the Hudson.

  • I had a great first time Airbnb stay at Van's place, he was welcoming and check-in was easy. Everything was as described: great location, clean, quiet, fast wifi, and even a bottle of wine. This place is a good value and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Poughkeepsie.

    Justinas2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay at Van's place. It was incredibly warm out so the in-window AC unit was much appreciated. Super close to downtown and the river, simple but nice spot.

  • Van was a wonderful host. He met any needs we had and answered all our questions promptly. He also text us daily to check on us. The room we rented was 1 of 3 in a first floor apt. It was a quiet apt and we hardly saw the other guests. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Our room had its own TV and DVD player. The neighborhood was quiet and in walking distance to Main St., the train station and Walk Over the Hudson Railroad Trail. The room was clean and comfortable. It also had a A/C window unit we could adjust to our own comfort level. I would definitely rent this room again. Thanks Van!

  • Great place in a great location!

    Paul2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • It's a tight little street all parked up, so Van's off-street lot is perfect. All houses on the block are three-deckers, but my room was on the first-floor, also appreciated. I'm grateful Van was able to accommodate my request on short notice. It's a short walk to downtown food and drink. Good place.

Location is great! Neighborhood is wonderful! Large living room for use. Large yard in a nice family sub division. Kitchen is fully stocked with needed utensils and wares.
Family oriented , tree filled, bird filled, chipmunk filled ... Nice atmosphere! But close to everything.
  • Loraine's was great as always. This time I was able to meet her daughter - such a awesome family!! Definitely recommend staying anytime, to anyone. They all will go the extra mile for you.

  • This was my second stay with Loraine And Paul. obviously I liked my first experience there! Their home is very comfortable and cozy, and they are very kind, welcoming and hospitable people. I think we are well on our way to being friends and not just Airbnb host and guest. And that is just what the sign in the house says… Arrive as strangers leave as friends. I couldn't be happier here!

    Beverly2015-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Listen to the reviews and just book it. She picked me up from the train station so I didn't have to take a taxi, she has every movie channel on cable ( I only booked her place cause I saw the cable tv and I don't have that in NYC), she has a soda fountain in her kitchen, and when she says make yourself comfortable she actually means: eat my food, ride my bikes, take my handmade soaps and if I have to go further upstate just have the house to yourself. I'm coming back next time I need to get out of the city, and I'm recommending all my friends to come too.

    Justin2016-01-02T00:00:00Z

    Jackie2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine was very helpful in my arrival: good instructions, and she picked me up at the train station. The accommodations fit the description. Loraine and her family welcomed me warmly and generously, offering many amenities and creating a sense of family. My room was quiet and well appointed, and the bed super comfortable. Overall, a relaxing and warm experience, and Loraine is an excellent host.

    David2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine is very welcoming. She has arranged many things for her guests comfort - including samples of homemade soap and there are things available for breakfast. We would certainly be comfortable staying with her again in the future.

  • Doris is an exceptional hostess. Thoughtful and kind..... we couldn't have been more delighted with our stay..

    Ruthie2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Pros. 1. Doris is adorable, warm and very helpful. 2. Snacks are plentiful and well organized. 3. The apartment, which is in the basement, is very clean and spacious. 4. The outdoor seating ie the porch etc seemed well kept but since it was chilly we couldn't use it Cons. 1. Almost zero water pressure in the shower. Close to a trickle. Combine that with the hardness of well water and showering took ages! 2. The bed is a double at best. Definitely not a queen. My wife and I took turns to sleep on the couch. 3. The heat comes on accompanied by a thousand groans of pipings. Very very noisy!

    Anshuman2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The House on the Pond is absolutely the best experience if you are headed to Hyde Park to take in the local sites. Doris is a lifetime local resident with a wealth of knowledge about the area. If asked she may even delight you with some stories of her encounters with the Roosevelt/Delano clan. The house is secluded, private and quiet with plenty of parking and separate entrance. If you forget something Doris has it there for you. Her muffins and fresh fruit provided every night for the next morning are a thoughtful touch. I told Doris if I'm ever passing through I will stop for tea and conversation on her lovely front porch overlooking the pond.

  • The place was beautiful. Doris made our stay especially enjoyable. She is kind and very accommodating. The property is beautiful and is a wonderful place if you're looking for a nature walk and scenic roads. The pond is a great addition. It would have been nice to have a stove to cook food, but there was a microwave and Doris provided us with many lovely snacks including home-made muffins. It is a quiet, peaceful area with stores and diners that are around 7 minute drive away. Definitely would recommend. Did I mention how lovely our host Doris was?(:

    Isra2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Doris is super nice and had some muffins and fruit for me in the morning. The house is clean and secluded. Loved it.

    Craig2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • I can not say enough good things about this visit. The accommodations were comfortable and it was spotless. Doris, the host was a joy. She included many little touches that were appreciated. She even left an umbrella out for me, knowing I would be outside and it would be cold and rainy. I also do short term rentals in South Carolina for the last 10 years and have 70 or so 5 star reviews. I would put Doris in the top tier of hosts. Thank you so very much.

Deborah was a thoughtful host, communicative and hospitable, and the bedroom was incredibly comfortable, stocked with water and morning coffee. The house is well located, near Wappington Falls services and the NY Thruway. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return!

Such a wonderful time spent in Uwe's lovely studio. It's tranquil, rustic, raw snd trully a stay-away haven. After we check-in, Uwe suggested us to take a 20 min drive down to Hessian Lake to experience the tantalising nature around. Thank you so much for your hosting.

Bob was a great host and he even helped us to get around when our transportation failed. The house is great. Full of light and in a wonderful forest setting. It's very conveniently next to a hiking trail that you can take from town to town. Perfect for a rustic getaway.

Easy, no hassle. Jacquie was great about communicating with us and was available for questions.
