Just booked in Detroit

Just booked in Detroit
Walk to Belle Isle, 6 min drive to downtown! A spacious 1BR corner loft overlooking the river and two parks. Lots of light and beautiful view. Convenient location off Jefferson Ave and Detroit's Riverwalk. Gated parking for one car. First time visitors to Detroit and city regulars will enjoy using my loft as a base of operations. I've been a contributing author to Wildsam Field Guides, an eclectic guidebook publisher, and have great recommendations for most cravings in this unique city.
I have a few spaces in Detroit. If this loft is unavailable, check one of my other cool spots: https://www.airbnb.com/users/6405993/listings This loft is beautiful, open, and full of light. A perfect retreat in Detroit. I grew up in Montana, lived in India for a few years, and ran a journalism startup in Detroit called Jaunt, so I have decorated my place with remnants of my travels. I also contributed to a Detroit guidebook called WildSam Field Guides, so I can help you put together a good itinerary or fill any holes you might have. I mostly live on my sailboat during the summer and I teach Marine Science on a sailing school vessel. The loft is all open except for the bathroom. The bedroom is separated by a wall without a ceiling. The kitchen has all the basic essentials and utensils plus coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, etc. for breakfast. I have an HDTV with Blu-Ray, Roku, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and an HD OTR antennae for NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. Then there's the bed. Queen and super comfortable - I splurged on the bed because good sleep is really important to me. For extra guests, there is a queen pull-out sofa in the common area. The apartment can accommodate up to four (two in each queen bed) but you're starting to get a little cramped. I will decline requests for greater than four people unless you have a special circumstance. There are two A/C units: one window-mounted right next to the bed and the other in the living room space. They do a good job on the loft 90% of the time, but if the sun is glaring and it is scorching hot, they won't be able to create the refrigerated A/C frigidity we are used to with central air. The bedroom unit works perfectly if you shut the door to the common area. In the winter, you can turn the heat up as much as you like and make it toasty warm.
I moved here in October, 2014 from the nearby West Village area where there are a few great new restaurants, like Craft Work, Detroit Vegan Soul, and Red Hook Coffee. The loft is on the Riverwalk, which is a bike/walk trail connecting you to downtown and Eastern Market via the Dequindre Cut, a converted rail line that runs off of the Riverwalk. I am also walking distance to the Belle Isle bridge. The building is kitty corner to a Coast Guard base, a U.S. Federal building, and the offices of a private security firm. The streets are lit and other residents of the building are frequently coming and going. I have always felt that the area around where I live is quite safe.
  • It was a great experience staying at Thane's loft. The place is very well done, spacious, clean and has great views. It was very comfortable and temperate both day and night. Thane knows Detroit very well and shared some great ideas for restaurants, bars and sights to check out. We really appreciated this as first time visitors to get a host so on point.

    Vanessa2016-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Thane's apartment is great. nicely decorated, comfortable and pleasant. everything promised was provided and I would recommend for anyone traveling to Detroit who wants a local experience. As described the neighbors can a little loud at times, but if you have ever lived in a loft apartment is the norm. I look forward to staying here again when I travel on business. best wishes, Tayyi (Website hidden by Airbnb)

  • Beautiful loft apartment in a lovely part of the city overlooking parkland and Belle Isle. Super comfortable bed and all the amenities needed for a great place to stay. Definitely a tricky city to navigate without a car but we used Uber right across the city and it worked out perfectly.

  • Loved the loft!

  • The communication leading up to the trip was phenomenal! Thane also took the time to leave us a thoughtful gift to take home and remind us of our trip to Detroit.

  • Great location. We were able to use our bikes to navigate the city because the apartment is right on the River Walk. The apartment was clean and comfortable. I hope to stay here again!

A beautiful, open, airy loft space housed within a completely renovated 1926 industrial building. Centrally located on Woodward Avenue, steps away from the Amsterdam stop of the newly-installed QLINE in New Center. Hop on, and be anywhere you'd like in New Center, Midtown, or Downtown in minutes. Relax, you're home.
This is a modern loft apartment housed within a completely renovated 1926 building that originally housed graphic artists for General Motors, and other companies. Designed by famed-Detroit architect Albert Kahn, you'll notice the signature art-deco front-facade and incredible lobby of the building. All the character of the loft is still intact, from the concrete floors, brick exterior wall, and the mushroom columns Albert Kahn was known for. Home includes a large kitchen, front load washer and dryer, incredibly fast internet with wifi and one bedroom with a queen-sized bed. This building is incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing; while being just blocks away from anything you'd want to do in the city. Kitchen includes gas stove/oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator, toaster, pots, pans, coffee maker, and any other utensils you need to call Detroit home for a few days. You'll find a single bedroom (this was originally a studio unit, but has been converted into a completely-walled one bedroom unit). Beautifully comfortable queen bed, small dresser, and chair. The main bathroom includes a subway tile shower/tub, sink, and any towels and amenities you'll need to make your stay perfect. Awesomely comfy white cotton sheets are included in the bedroom. The living room includes a couch (can be used for extra sleeping space, but isn't a pull-out), coffee table, and two chairs. 50" HDTV is hooked up to an Apple TV with Netflix. Outdoor space includes a small patio (which you'll enter from) with two bistro chairs and table. Enjoy the sunny back-alley of the building with a drink of your choice from the fridge. Local spots within walking/biking distance include the incredibly beautiful art-deco Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings; Midtown Shopping (Shinola, Willys, Nora, Hugh, Carhartt, Fellow Barber, City Bird, Nest, and more); the mid-century gardens and campus at Wayne State, and more. Local attractions include the city and public art, Belle Isle with its beaches, waterpark, Albert Kahn designed conservatory and aquarium, and trails. The world is your oyster. Restaurants nearby including fast food, Northern Lights Lounge, Falafill, Dangerously Delicious Pies, City Wings, Motor City Brewing Works, Jolly Pumpkin, and more. The loft is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication. Taking photos during your stay? Make sure you #thatdetroitloft.
Awesome location right on Woodward at the Midtown/New Center border. Just a few blocks either way to a ridiculous amount of inspiration, character, activities, and restaurants. Take in the Detroit Institute of Arts, or check out the art-deco skyscrapers of New Center.
  • Jesse made our stay very awesome. He was very accommodating by booking us and letting us stay within hours. He even was very nice about my mishap of not reading the 'check-out' instructions correctly by not putting the key back in the lock box.

    A.C.2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was my third stay at Jesse's loft and enjoyed it as much as the other times. Great place, great host!

    Gary2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse has a wonderful loft furnished with great taste! It made our stay in Detroit so special.

    Francois2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this loft! Not only was the place stylish, it was clean!! For the peeps that are new to Detroit and like myself are/were ignorant of the safety of this particular neighborhood, the place is safe. Here are my list of Pros of the bnb: - Clean - Location. No more than 15 mins away from awesome cafes and restaurants. - Right next to the police department (you can literally high five a cop before getting through the gate) - Quiet area (no sirens going off) - Parking. Never had a hard time parking - Well lit (on the streets of where the host says you can park) - Easy to use thermostat - Awesome vinyl record selection - Bed was comfortable - Couch was long enough to accommodate a 5'10" male to sleep on Con: - Construction. There were a lot of roads blocked off due to the road construction. But if you have a gps, you will be able to find your way in sooner or later. Will I book this place again? Yes.

    Nikki2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jesse's apartment. Not only is it beautiful and clean, its in a very safe neighbourhood. We would definitely stay there again given the chance.

    Lindsay2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • I came to Detroit for the weekend and was immediately captivated by Jesse's tasteful loft. It was impeccably clean and was the perfect setup for two people. As a first-timer, I appreciated all the curated local guidebooks and magazines. And as someone who always travels with a Macbook Pro, the monitor/speaker situation was perfect for me to plug in to. Jesse was a thoughtful host with a great list of recommendations and very professional level of communication. Can't wait to stay again!

    Sam2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse's apartment was perfect for exploring Detroit. The building is amazing, and everything looked exactly as it did in the pictures. The location is ideal for exploring the Cass Corridor and there's loads of space to park nearby.

    Tristan2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was just as wonderful as expected. Beautiful space in centrally located neighborhood, great parking. Jesse made everything as easy as possible and checked in to make sure we were all set.

Welcome to Woodbridge Farm! ...a friendly, spacious & quiet neighborhood, close to all of the happenings in/around Detroit. Enjoy the newly renovated 2nd floor of our 1884 Historic house. The apt is cozy w/ yummy architectural/design details.
WOODBRIDGE FARM: We love it here! ...very special and unique. The street is filled with Urban Pioneers and creative types; artists, musicians, gardeners, and makers. You will find that most homes sit on larger pieces of land, giving Woodbridge Farms a unique feel. Many of the houses in the area have undergone impressive renovations, and for the others the renovation is underway. We have completed the interior renovations of this home, and soon we will start renovation on the house next door, which we also own. From the outside they look a little rough, but keep coming back and you will be able to witness the transformation! US & OUR RENOVATION PROJECTS: We are longtime Detroiter’s. We are committed to the City, and we are so happy to have been a part of the revitalization of Detroit. We love old homes …and we love to renovate them! Zac is a general contractor, and Renee is an Interior Designer. Together, we have been restoring old homes in Woodbridge for the last 15 years. LOCATION: You are a short walk/drive from Detroit’s midtown area, where you will find a variety of restaurants and shopping. Both Corktown and Downtown are within a few miles. It is a very quiet neighborhood, conveniently located to all major freeways. Lots of parking. THE LISTING: Newly renovated, with the best of care. Open plan kitchen, dining, and living. King size bed with fine linens and nice pillows. The bedroom windows are opposite the sun rise. It is a very peaceful space, bright, open and fresh. We are sure you will love the apartment. It is clean and private. We have an office on the first floor that is completely separate from the space. Zac is typically there M-F 9-5 should you need to fax ,copy or have any questions. If you have any special requests we will do our best to accommodate you, if given a bit of notice. We live 2 blocks away from the apartment should anything urgent come up.
  • Zac and Renee's place was obviously created with love. They did a beautiful job on the apartment, located in a green neighborhood filled with other charming houses. It's a short walk to midtown shops and parking is easy outside the house. We met Renee as they were gardening outside when we arrived but had no issues getting the key out of the lockbox and feeling at home. (Taco the cat greeted us warmly on the doorstep too.)

    Emily2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended gem in a neighborhood that gives you a glimpse into the life of a local participating in Detroit's revitalization. Don't let the rough exterior fool you --- Zac and Renee have beautifully renovated this home and it's probably the most comfortable airbnb i have ever stayed in. And the location is actually perfect.... 10-15 minute walk from both Midtown and Corktown. Highly recommended.

    Brian2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful apartment in a wonderful old house with lovely hosts - perfection. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient and parking is easy. I highly recommend chatting with Zac and Renee (and cat Taco), who are super friendly and a wealth of information. Couldn't recommend more highly and hope to be back next year!

    Jen2016-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! Although we had a very short stay, it was lovely here. Thanks Renee and Zac.

    Hannah2016-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place. Airy, bright, clean, comfortable, stylish but not pretentious . I wouldn’t necessarily walk around at night here, but daytime was very comfortable. Close to shops and restaurants. Check in was simple. Hosts were very responsive. Great stay. We’d be psyched to come back.

    Zara2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • What is not to love about this space? The space is beautifully decorated. If you love art this is a perfect rental for you. Everything appears to have been chosen and placed with the utmost attention to detail. Even down to the coloring book and pencils left out on the desk. Yes, I did color for a bit. Should we ever been back in the area we will 100% look and see if this unit is available first.

    Meg2016-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Zac & Renee's place was wonderful. The pictures don't do the size and character justice! We loved staying here and would definitely recommend it.

    Sarah2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Zac & Renee were communicative and cheerful hosts and the flat totally charmed us. It's obvious they've put a lot of time and thought into it. As promised, there was a lot of sunshine. The decor is thoughtful and calming. We were welcomed by Taco the cat, a most courteous (and cuddly and adorable) ambassador. In terms of locale, there are a bunch of great spots to drink and eat, which was great for us. In sum, I hope all of my future airbnb experiences are just like this one, and if I'm ever back in Detroit I know I won't have to worry.

Upstairs from Slows BBQ and on the same block as Astro, Sugar House and Gold Cash Gold, this two-bedroom neighborhood inn provides an immersive, welcoming travel experience in the heart Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood.
A small-scale, design-focused Detroit inn, Honor & Folly is reminiscent of the way folks used to travel: a few beds above the village pub or restaurant. You'll be immersed in this historical neighborhood that's also at the forefront of the city's current revitalization. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit (made the 40 "Best Food Lovers Hotels in America" Awards), The Globe and Mail, Details Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller UK, and Afar. With a prime Corktown location, you'll be situated smack into the middle of one of the most thriving, charming and walk-able neighborhoods in the city—right across from the city’s most beautiful icon of urban decay: the old train station. Admire it up-close or enjoy the beautiful view through the big living room windows—you can even see the Ambassador Bridge! Sharing a block with Slows, Astro, Gold Cash Gold and Sugar House, Honor & Folly also offers plenty of other nearby bars, shops and restaurants within a quick stroll (I provide guests with a list of my favorite recommendations), as well as easy access to downtown. The well-appointed space is decorated with goods made by Detroit and Midwest-based designers and artisans—much of which is also for sale. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, for a capacity of four people, with additional possible sleeping arrangements for kids. From time to time, Honor & Folly is used as a community space, hosting workshops or events, but you will have the space entirely to yourself during your stay. OTHER AMENITIES: outdoor balcony | local design | fully stocked cooking kitchen | potential to arrange custom catering, private dinner parties, etc.
  • This was our second stay at Honor & Folly, & we enjoyed it just as much as the first time we stayed. Meghan is a great host, very accessible & easy to communicate with, & the space is really comfortable with close proximity to awesome dining.

    Irene2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place was delightful. Huge and airy and interesting in a fun neighbourhood. Very cool design of an old space. Plenty of room for 4 of us. We loved the place and exploring Corktown and downtown on foot and other areas easily accessible by car. Meghan was quickly responsive to the few questions we had and got us a restaurant reservation we wanted. We booked 3 nights this time but would love to return in the future to hang out in the great space and see more of wonderful Detroit and its friendly people.

  • Perfect landing pad for a work trip into Detroit. Cozy and convenient!

    Diane2017-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place to stay! Perfectly located to get anywhere in the city, amazingly comfortable, designed and spacious. I was in Detroit for a photo project and able to spread out, work and with Astro Coffee, Slow's, GCG and other amenities right on the block, I never really had to leave but when I did, it was such a warm and beautiful place to return to at the end of the day. Meghan is full of information and I was so inspired by her terrific sense of design that it actually enhanced my own work. Thanks and cannot wait to return.

    Sara Jane2015-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Meghan's space was fantastic - it was even more spacious than we originally thought. It was quiet at night, lively during the day and the close proximity to everything in Detroit was a huge bonus! Highly recommended!

  • Great spot, centrally located, nice and clean large loft.

    Philip2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • This property is absolutely beautiful. It comfortably sleeps six and can host many more. The rooftop terrace and the open loft design provide excellent spaces to socialize. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious. And, it is central enough that we were a quick uber from everywhere we wanted to go. One consideration is that only one room is separated from the rest of the loft by a door. There is still privacy for the other two beds. But, maybe not as much as you'd like for an extended stay.

    Matthew2016-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place

    Etienne2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a terrific space. Would've been perfect for an event, although it turned out to be just as good for a low key hang out! Instructions for the stay were clear and Kyle was very communicative and helpful. Great experience at a very cool space, with a great purpose/dedication to the arts. Would highly recommend it.

    Grace2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We used Kyle's loft for a design team outing. The loft was amazing and we will definitely use it again! No issues and the loft was exactly as shown in the pictures! Thanks Kyle for a wonderful stay!

    Anne2016-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay for a couple of days. We felt safe and secure day and night. Liked the fact the car was secure in the lot. Martha and Kyle were great at answering questions and honest and upfront about the neighbourhood being a bit louder with parties and events on weekends. Glad i had a sleeping mask as there are no curtains. Will certainly look to stay there again - close, central location. Walkable to Fisher building and Woodward.

    Daniel2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This loft was a great place to stay for a long weekend. Especially enjoyed the views from the roof balcony - and the endless vistas of the railroad tracks, old warehouses, and surrounding neighborhoods. Kyle was a communicative and friendly host, quick to reply with anything amiss -- but gave us plenty of room to make ourselves at home. The unit is large, well equipped with cooking supplies and plenty of towels and linens. Comfy, trendy, and just as pictured. Centrally located, we could get a Lyft in minutes to anywhere downtown for ~10$. A couple things to note : the loft is a large, open plan loft - if you are coming with other folks, know that you will hear everyone all the time as all rooms have open walls into the main space. Additionally, there are no curtains - so if you are a light sleeper, it might be best to pack a mask for your eyes, or simply be ready to wake with the sun and enjoy the early starts in Motor City. Lastly, there is a neat, eclectic event space across the alley - if you don't go an join in on the fun yourself, you might have a DJ playing tunes late into the night!

    Liza2016-07-06T00:00:00Z

Fresh Gothic-Victorian nearby the Museum of African American History, Wayne State, Third Man Records, Shinola. Sfumato Fragrances NOW OPEN in the garden level, perfume shop and low-key scented cocktail bar (search for the latest Lonely Planet article). Selden Standard across the street. 9 min walk to QLINE (approx 10 min to Downtown on the streetcar). 10 min walk to U of M Ann Arbor shuttle bus. MoGo bike rental 1 block away. Rocket Fiber gigabit internet speed. Sonos controls in wall speakers.
This 1880s Gothic-Victorian Mansion was renovated in 2015. Everything is new, clean and modern. There is a queen sized bed and an air mattress. The space can definitely accommodate 3-4 people, but it’ll be cozy (i.e., it’s a Studio). There is ample closet space, a full kitchen, washer/dryer and a private bathroom. The space gets great light. In addition to the low-key cocktail bar in the garden level, Detroit Clothing Circle clothing shop downstairs offers curated racks of clothing with styles that won't blend in with the herd.
We have a great location in Midtown Detroit, many great bars, restaurants, and shops are within walking distance. Popular nearby attractions include the DIA, MOCAD, Chartreuse, Jolly Pumpkin, Hop Cat, Motor City Brewing Works, Great Lakes Coffee and Whole Foods.
  • This is a great rental in a fun, developing neighborhood. The rental was just as described and check-in and check-out was a breeze. I would stay here again for sure.

    Kristine2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cons: Air conditioning sounds like a loud train engine that goes off every 5 mins all night long but you don't want to turn it off completely because then it's too hot The neighborhood is hip with cute restaurants and shops but it's still in transition with abandoned houses right next door The one recommended restaurant, Sheldon standard, is horribly overpriced and not particularly good (Chartruese is much better) The key combo isn't very cooperative The apartment door doesn't lock (but the gate and building door do Pros: The apartment has a private entrance and is very clean and stylishly simple tea bedding and towels and shampoo are provided

    Michala2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's spot is super, super close to cute shops, many highly rated restaurants and awesome neighborhoods to wander. Plus, we were able to let ourselves in via her instructions, so our delayed travel didn't add even more stress to the trip - we knew we could arrive whenever. Thanks again, Sarah!

    Joshua2015-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Space was clean and was well represented of the photos. Sarah had the instructions in getting into the space on her page that were very clear. Not a whole lot of communication with host which was fine, she pretty much lays out her recommendations on her profile as well.

  • This is a great place. It's clean and very comfortable. Location is perfect for Midtown and access to downtown. I look forward to returning here in the future.

My husband, Matt, and I have a lovely flat in Hamtramck that has been restored to its original 1920s charm. Our style is intentional and warm, and decorations include things that we have collected through the years that have meaning to us. Equipped with a queen size bed in a spacious bedroom it is perfect for a couple or close friends! There’s plenty of room for an air mattress too. The living room has a couch, eating table, chair, and bar with stools for enjoying food and beverages. We provide a TV with Netflix access, games, and books for when you feel like relaxing after a long day of hanging out in the city. The brightness and vintage style of the kitchen will warm your heart. You will love cooking in this space, not to mention you will be provided with any cooking supplies you need. Lastly, the bathroom is large and clean with a vintage claw foot tub for a tranquil bath or shower. For longer stays, you are welcome to our washer and dryer in the basement.
Hamtramck is touted as ‘The World in 2 Square Miles.’ Located directly in the center of Detroit, it is a diverse city that has its roots in the rise of the auto industry. Anyone who loves history will appreciate the beauty and architecture that still exists in Detroit and Hamtramck. Originally a hub for Polish immigrants Hamtramck has maintained its eastern European flair and guests will find excellent Polish restaurants, markets with delicious pierogi, keilbasa, and stuffed cabbage along with a Polish Art Center equipped with treasured artifacts and souvenirs. Hamtramck also has some excellent Bengali, Indian, Iraqi and Yemeni food! Things to see in Detroit: Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) 4.3 miles Eastern Market 4.9 miles Heidelberg Project 4.1 miles Comerica Park and Ford Field 5.6 miles Fox Theatre 5.6 miles Renaissance Center 6 miles Detroit Opera House 5.7 miles Ann Arbor (Visit U of M!) 50 miles Henry Ford Museum 16.1 miles MGM Casino 6.3 miles Greektown and Casino 5.8 miles
  • Very accommodating hosts, cute flat with all the desired amenities including coffee and tea, shampoo and conditioner, and Netflix. Well designed space makes it cozy as well as cool - number of repurposed wood pieces. Note that it is upstairs in the same house as the guests, but there is an easy and separate entrance around back. Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces right in front of the house.

  • My husband and I had a fabulous time while staying in Hamtramck, Detroit. Matthew and Meredith are very good communicators and their airbnb is clean, comfortable and thoughtfully considered. You will find yourself surrounded by fun bits of artistic collectanea and all the amenities. Highly recommend. All the stars!

  • This little in-law apt in Hamtramck is great. Just as advertised. Well appointed too, maybe the best equipped kitchen of any Airbnb I've stayed at. There are some really great coffee shops in th area too, and it's close to lots of great Detroit attractions. Matt and Meredith were super easy to communicate with and very fast at responding. We had a very minor check-in issue with the door, and it was resolved in literally a minute. Highly recommended. We hope to stay here again on future visits to Detroit.

  • My friend and I stayed in Matt & Meredith's apartment for a long weekend in Detroit. We'd never heard of Hamtramck before this trip, and completely fell in love with this town. Conveniently located just outside the city limits, Hamtramck has an incredible variety of restaurants and dive bars for its size. All of our Detroit sightseeing was a 10-15 minute drive from Hamtramck, and UberXs were easily accessible. Matt gave us some great food recommendations both in and outside the city, and the apartment space was beautifully maintained and decorated. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique Detroit experience.

  • Matt and Meredith were great hosts. Matt greeted us upon arrival and showed us the space. They provided plenty of towels and toiletry items in case we forgot anything. The apartment is just like the pictures. We were only passing through and stayed for less than 12 hours so we really cannot comment on the neighborhood but it certainly felt safe.

    M2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Matt and Meredith's place was amazing! They are thoughtful and very accommodating hosts that made everything very easy. The Flat is exactly as described, we couldn't have been more comfortable there. We had such an awesome time in Detroit and staying at their flat helped really make the trip. We definitely hope to stay with them again on any future trips to Detroit.

    Ryan2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great experience we extended our stay! Couldn't have been more pleased with Matt and Meredith. Their home is inviting & cozy and the neighborhood is really cool! Communication was great as well!

  • We cannot rate Matt and Meredith's gorgeous Hamtramck flat highly enough. It's such a lovely space, with a peaceful, welcoming energy. We felt at home right away. Matt and Meredith were the perfect hosts, and we feel we left Detroit with two new friends. Plus their dining recommendations were spot on! If you're planning on visiting Detroit (and please do, it's amazing) then this is a fantastic place to make your base, with hosts who will go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

A tri-level riverview industrial beauty that Detroit has to offer along with modern decor from my travels. 5 minutes from Belle Isle & Downtown, on the Riverwalk and next to an upgraded park. Fully equipped, for up to four people. Close to Belle Isle, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Chene Park, Joe Louis Arena, Fox Theatre, the Masonic Temple, Cobo Hall, Detroit Institute of Arts, the Fillmore, Hart Plaza and Little Caesar's Arena.
1 Queen sized mattress. 3 Queen sized air mattresses. 1 Full size convertible sofa bed. The loft is a wide open space located near the heart of Downtown. Large windows allow for natural light to illuminate the loft during the day. Artwork and photos decorate the walls along with objects I've collected along my travels. The perfect place to come back to relax to after a crazy day in Detroit! New furniture, full closet and storage for clothing/luggage, work station, Apple TV, 2 TV's, plant life and a short guide for the best things to do while in Detroit.
The neighborhood is great. Right on the Detroit River with easy access to the heart of downtown, Belle Isle or the Dequindre Cut by way of walking, biking or by car. Adjacent to the building is a newly upgraded park to mark the start (or end) of the Riverwalk which has nice rolling greens to spend a Summer day on. There is a grocery store within walking distance.
  • Christopher was a wonderful host. He was quick to respond to all my questions. He even checked up on us to make sure we were doing ok on our trip. The location of the airbnb was perfect for us. It was near all the bars and restaurants. His place was warm and cozy. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!

  • Christopher was a great host! He made sure we had everything we needed and was available to answer any questions. The property is very close to downtown and while the building is a bit dated, the inside is very well kept. Would definitely stay with Christopher again.

  • The place was as pictured, and a group of 4 fit comfortably. The location is close to downtown, and easy to get an uber to and from. I enjoyed the stay, and Christopher was a great host.

  • This loft was absolutely perfect. I was looking for a unique, homey space; not just your “run of the mill”/sterile apartment and that’s exactly what I found in this location. Extremely aesthetically pleasing with industrial features that echoed of Detroit and authentic, natural features (such as the original wood floors and exposed beams) that made the place feel rich & warm. It’s centrally located & absolutely ideal for enjoying the city. Will definitely be back!

    Aj2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here over Labor Day weekend. Spacious loft and a great location. just a short uber ride to downtown or Corktown. Perfect location to walk the riverfront as well. Christopher made sure to check in to make sure we had everything we needed on multiple occasions. He was also very flexible with our check in/out and accommodated our flight schedule perfectly! Overall, great stay!

  • Our stay at Christopher's place was great! The photos and descriptions are accurate and true to what you experience. Cristopher was a great host. He was walking and made sure we had everything we needed and was always quick to respond to questions. All around it was a great stay and I would definitely choose this spot again the next time I am in Detroit.

    Nick2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was an amazing deal in an ideal spot in Detroit. It was close to a park behind the building with a great view. Uber’s were easy and relatively inexpensive from this location as well. The space itself was modern and comfy, a perfect spot to rest your head after a long day (or big night) out on the town. The complex has a gym directly below the loft that got a little loud early in the morning. But it wasn’t anything some music or the tv couldn’t drown out. Christopher was an excellent host, and easily reachable if we had any problems or questions. 10/10 would recommend.

    Angela2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cleanliness: cute and clean. One new sheet set and one new blanket. New towels. Host response: host responded quickly to messages. I had to contact him many times throughout our stay (for toilet paper, blanket for third bed, and to get lights to work because the app. suggested on Air BnB didn’t work). Bedding accommodations: We had 6 quests stay here. We had to set up one bed ourselves (unpack, blow up, set sheets) and make the other (set sheets). The aforementioned bed and sheets were dropped off after 8pm and we had to request a blanket for the third bed when we got back to the studio. Ad does not clarify that the third bed was an air mattress. We had to walk on the other beds to access kitchen and bathroom. We had to deflate bed and move the furniture back to get ready in the morning. It was not comfortable or accommodating for any guest. Professionalism: The host was professional on messaging system. He was unpleasant and made many unprofessional comments by phone after he called me (e.g. “Doesn’t it matter that I gave the air mattress to you in a Channel bag?). When I asked for a full refund, host said he would refund money for the two couples (100.00), but only refunded for me for one couple (50.00). Overall, this is a clean place for two people. I would not book this place for more than two people. I would not stay here again. I would not communicate with host by phone. I would only communicate with host by Air BnB messenger, which company recommends.

  • The studio apartment was more or less as described but the description ‘upscale’ seems like a bit of a stretch. Additionally there were no towels as described and it took 18 hours to get the towels from the time the renter acknowledged they were missing. By this time we had purchased our own towels which the renter generously offered to pay for. I think the location would certainly be satisfactory for many renters, but at the rate (holiday weekend $135/night) we paid and considering the lack of attention and hospitality we checked out a night early and got a hotel downtown. The renter was fair and agreed to refund us for the night we did not stay. Based on other reviews it seems like this was not the typical experience at this rental, the renter was apologetic but if the issue of no towels had been addressed immediately or within a few hours we would have stayed thru the duration.

Sunny, cozy and serene. Right off of Jefferson Ave and Detroit’s Riverwalk. The perfect retreat with a gorgeous view of the Detroit River and only a 5-minute drive to downtown! Just a few blocks from Belle Isle Park with a beautiful view of the river. Ample and safe parking for all guests. The newly renovated Mt. Elliot Park directly across the street provides for a safe and family friendly environment for a stroll.
The building stays true to Detroit's cultural history as it is rustic and once used by manufacturers. Turned into an artist's loft space, the living space features exposed red brick throughout. Interior decor is boho-chic meets Moroccan themes. Souvenirs from my travels to Asia, Africa, and the middle east also fill the space. Coffee and cereal included.
The neighborhood is very safe. The apartment building is directly on the Detroit River Front, which it should be noted that the River Front has completely been renovated and truly family friendly. A Walgreens is directly across the street as well as a gas station on the corner. Getting around is fairly easy. Most restaurants and cafes are within a 5-10 minute driving distance.
  • Semira’s place was so lovely and cute. Perfect for our one night in town, and was very fast with communicating. Plenty of parking, and a pretty view. Be prepared to walk up some steps though! I would definitely stay again, and recommend her place to anyone.

  • Semira's place is clean, comfortable and cosy. It has a great view over the river. You can walk out day or night along the riverwalk which takes you all the way into downtown. There's also a quality supermarket nearby. Semira was helpful and super responsive.

  • The loft was adorable, it is perfect for an intimate gathering or a romantic stay. I loved the decor and throughtfulness the hosts put into the space. The place had everything you need and great information about the area and the building. If there were any critique it would be that it’s a bit cozy for a group of people. We had a total of 10 people visit during the day and it was a bit tight, while only 5 stay the night and I would say 5 is an ideal number for total guests in the space, if not less. Great please! Check it out if you’re looking to stay in the area.

Feel the industrial vibes of Detroit in this gorgeous loft, located in a 1920's automotive factory. Some features like the wood floors and pillars are all original. It also has exposed brick, and tall windows letting the sun shine through. Located in a quiet, industrial area 3-8 minute drive to Midtown, Eastern Market, Hamtramck and Downtown. 1 mile to Q line and very bike friendly as you can get to many places easily!
This industrial boho loft is clean, comfy and ideal for couples and solo travelers. The loft area is currently off limits for sleep (the heat rises and stays too warm up there), so those booking should ideally be able to share the full mattress or be ok with sleeping on the sofa. WiFi Fully equipped kitchen Private entrance in the parking lot Sleeping arrangements: Full size super comfy Sealy posturepedic mattress Sofa- for 1 (not too tall) Twin bed — off limits for winter Please select the amount of guests you will be so that I can provide bed sheets and towels accordingly.
Make neighbors with the old factories and pheasants ~ The loft is located in an old industrial and unique neighborhood. Many of the plots and buildings here have been converted into artist studios/loft buildings, community gardens and music venues. The area is safe, but as a fair warning it may look a bit eary to those not familiar with Detroit. The people who occupy this building are friendly and it feels like a community.
  • Georgia’s apartment is beautiful and comfy and quiet. It is quite isolated, so a car or an Uber account are recommended. I would definitely stay there again.

    Jamilka2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was the second Airbnb I’ve ever booked and it was the complete opposite experience of my first booking. I booked this for 1 night for me and my cousin and we were very disappointed. It was 90 degrees in the loft when we walked in. It smelled musty like it hadn’t been cleaned in some time. There was hair in the shower drain, old wet towels in the hamper, makeup smeared in the sink, moldy food in the fridge and unidentifiable liquids and black bananas in the freezer, trash in the kitchen garbage can. The listing says 2 floor beds which were actually 1 rock hard twin mattress and one air mattress. The bath mat had hair and leaves on it. The shower was broken and the host left a hand drawn picture on how to use it. The water in the shower had 2 temperatures which were scalding hot and skin melting hot. The check in info included a WiFi password and then when we got there a note was left that the WiFi didn’t really work that well. It’s also surrounded by burnt down and abandoned buildings. No civilization for a good 5 miles surrounding the building. Honestly surprised that this place got such good reviews. We left and went to a hotel. Absolutely do not recommend this place.

    Danielle2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • As described - great location for visiting for Movement/DEMF weekend; close to the record shops, Buddy's, with good parking, and far enough from Downtown to avoid the traffic. Georgia was a great and communicative host.

    Adam2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really cool space. Quick drive or Uber to anywhere you want to go.

    Matthew2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a place with a real Detroit feel, and this delivered. The loft is in a repurposed candy factory. It's a small space, with no television and limited internet, but that is part of it's appeal. The surrounding area is rather bleak, but it's close to downtown and has a lot of interesting history. Just a warning for older travelers or those with small children - the beds are on an upper level of the loft that you have to climb a ladder to get to and there is no railing along the edge. For the size, it's very comfortable and perfect for an overnight stop.

Hello! Our home is an 1890 Victorian mansion that we purchased in 2012 and lovingly renovated over three years using a team of local craftspeople and myself. This space is a quirky 1 bedroom, 1 bath garden level loft with much of its original character preserved. Located in the heart of Midtown just one block from 15+ bars and restaurants, DMC, Shinola and way more. The space is designed with leisure stays in mind but also capable of accommodating business travelers comfortably. Parking included
The space features a custom cherry old-growth wood bar along with handbuilt cherry countertops. The bathroom has its own interesting character equipped with the biggest shower I've ever installed as a builder. The apartment is stocked with coffee, has an Apple TV and high-speed WiFi and dart board. The space is equipped with a modern heating system and natural cooling from the original stone walls. It’s very comfortable year round.
Midtown is an exploding, vibrant neighborhood in the center of Detroit. There are so many fantastic bars, shopping opportunities, museums and restaurants within walking distance. The Wayne State Police is highly active and patrols Midtown 24/7 with a fast response rate making Midtown the safest neighborhood in Detroit and one of the safest university campuses in the nation.
  • Kelsey's place was ideal for us as first timers to Detroit! It was perfectly situated in a quiet neighborhood, but it was still within walking distance to some great restaurants and bars. Parking was easy and the space was clean and very comfortable.

    Jess2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! We walked into Detroit. The place itself is large and clean, it's a great little space. Love the shower. Was very quiet. Only heard people above us once when they were leaving and using the stairs. Self check in was the easiest process. The lock with the key in it was literally attached to the door. Very cool place. Thanks guys!

    Kimberley2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here. The location was so walkable to lots of restaurants and bars and breweries. The pictures really dont do it justice because it is eclectic but so cozy and well designed. Kelsey let us check in a bit early which was so appreciated. The only thing we would add is another floor lamp on the other side of the bed (we both like to read in bed). We plan to come back.

  • This was a very cool place to stay — well decorated and with thoughtful touches throughout. The pictures portray the place accurately though it was actually bigger than I was expecting. I did not meet Kelsey but she was quick to respond to messages. The information given about check in is sparse but just enough. I much prefer her system of a mechanical lockbox on the door to some other places where I've had to download the August app to open a smartlock. The kitchen was fantastic, and I appreciated that she had good coffee grounds for guests to use. The thermostat worked great and the shower was very nice. I would say the bed was adequate for me (I'm not very picky), but not luxurious. A couple things that you could perhaps infer from the fact that it's the basement of a house from 1890, but are worth being aware of: Sounds from the upstairs neighbors come through very clearly. While I was there I didn't hear anything during unreasonable hours so it didn't bother me much. During my stay I saw a good number of centipedes. Also not too much of a problem unless you hate centipedes. The location was very convenient for me and there is a small grocery market around the corner as well as bars and restaurants nearby.

  • Full of character, creativity, & charm. This stay was so much fun, and in a perfect location for our concert at the motor city casino hotel. A lot of hard work and TLC has been put into this space to update it yet keep the old charm of the 1890’s mansion. We absolutely loved staying here & want to come back in the future.

Trendy, unique, & upscale apartment with absolutely no expense spared! Sits atop a privately owned, newly restored, multi-million $ building. All decor is from Restoration Hardware, creating a classy, high-tech, & luxurious travel experience. Minutes from the heart of downtown & stadiums, one block from famous restaurants: Slow's BBQ & Takoi, as well as craft cocktail bar, Sugar House & Two James Distillery. Great, safe location to explore the city & have fun. Perfect for couples/groups/events.
Located in the old Bullock Green Hardware building, a local architect with an incredible eye for detail sunk $1m+ into the rehab and decoration of the commercial building, converting it into unique living spaces. The building consists of 4 separate units: 1 massive master unit takes up the entire 1st floor, and 3 separate units that have private access are located on the 2nd floor. This unit is one of those 3. Exposed brick, accompanied with state of the art electronics and modern fixtures makes this a very unique and desirable property.
Corktown is the oldest surviving neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan. Corktown derives its name from the Irish immigrants who settled there. Very safe, friendly area with plenty of bars, restaurants, distilleries within walking distance. The road consists of cobblestone, which gives it the cool, nolstalgic feel. Very close to I-75 & M-10.
  • I love the bed, washing machine, and the kitchen. Everything was so modern and updated. I wish there was a broom though.

  • This place is located near the best coffee shop Astros and excellent restaurants like Takoi and Gold, Cash, Gold. It is a cool building. However, bring your towels, glasses, coffee cups, coffee maker, dresser, bath mat, cork screw, bottle opener, utensils and just about everything you'll need to cook in a kitchen. (it did have a few pots and pans, glass plates and bowls. The place only came with two towels and two wash clothes. There is a nightclub or private party room on the first floor that holds events that go into the wee hours of the morning even on Sunday night.

Adventurers welcome! Stay here & help fund our renovation work as we bring this abandoned 20's mansion back to life! House is RUSTIC & a WORK IN PROGRESS. Private room is restored with original features. Lockable Room Door, King bed with Foam Mattress, Mini Fridge, Microwave, Coffee Maker. Shared bathroom, kitchen & common area. We host other travelers too so expect community vibe! 5-15 mins bike to most top attractions. Perfect for biking explorers.
This spacious private room is restored to its original state and comfortably furnished. It has a nice king memory foam bed (Size: 76 in x 80 in). The room also comes with convenient amenities like coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. The room door is lockable. We usually set up only a KING bed for up to 2 guests in the room. Please let us know if you need us to set up the extra single beds. We currently have 3 bathrooms shared in the house. Since other travelers and our international volunteers helping us will be staying under the same roof and sharing the same bathroom / kitchen / lounge, the space will have a strong community vibe. Expect to meet cool people from all around. We’ve made lots of friends while traveling and staying in this type of shared environment and we love it. :) With that being said, if you require more privacy, this is probably not the best place for you but most guests see it as a great way to meet people and embrace the community vibe as part of the adventure.
Our house is just up from Belle Isle on the same street! We're close to Eastern Market to our north west and West Village / Indian Village to our south east. Straight shot over to Downtown / Midtown and most top attractions are within 3 miles. A lot of homes in this area are being revitalized right now but there are still a lot of work to be done and you'll probably see some blighted houses nearby. If you want some more info about neighborhoods or places to check out please let us know! We have an extensive travel guide we put together for our guests.
  • This room was very comfortable and a good location close to downtown Detroit. My girlfriend and I stayed here on our way to Leelanau and the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and we had no issues. The other guests at the soon-to-be hostel were very friendly and showed us around the space. I'm sure once it is completely renovated, it will be a very beautiful space, but even in its current state it is a very nice room to stay in. This room which is offered is completely finished and very nice.

    Andrew2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts were super kind and easy to communicate with. The home is in on a quiet street and a short Uber ride downtown (or a walk and the bus).

    Kendall2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Alex and Jenny were great hosts! I had messed up my booking for the weekend and forgotten to book a night. They were able to accommodate us on short notice which was much appreciated! Great communication, comfortable bed and easy access to downtown and mid-town Detroit. Thanks again!

    Georgia2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for the eastern market and belle isle. Easy commute downtown and up to Ferndale. Welcoming rooms that are well appointed. Excited to watch their renovations unfold! A really great experience. Thanks!

    Aileen2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for an evening on the town. Short Uber ride downtown or to midtown. The place is being rehabilitated so it's in a state of construction, but the main areas are clean and updated already. The room we stayed in was also very clean and nice. The place is communal so you have to walk through common areas to go to bathrooms, and you'll meet other people on the way, but that's no problem for us. It's a cool place now and will be even cooler when they are complete! Will definitely keep on my favorites list. Street parking was no problem. Despite Detroit still being pretty rough around the edges, we had no issues in this location. If you don't know Detroit well, understand you may need to drive through some rough looking areas to get here. People like this though are helping to revitalize the area!

    Nate2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The home is clearly still being fixed up but if you can look past that it's a charming and homey spot! In a fun part of town and the hosts are generous with their suggestions as to what to do in the city! Would love to stay here again if I ever come back to Detroit.

Clean, stylish space - ideal for a single traveler or a couple exploring Detroit! Corktown is a cozy, quiet and friendly neighborhood and our historic home is located just a few minutes away from the best bars, restaurants and coffee shop in the city. Our charming cottage built in 1900 has original wood floors and exposed beams, a queen sized bed, all new appliances and a large backyard with a view of downtown - giving you a true feeling of a home away from home.
Guests have access to the entire cottage and spacious backyard.
Our cottage is in the oldest established neighborhood in Detroit. It’s a super friendly community and is very walkable with lots of bars and restaurants nearby.

Located at the intersection of Lafayette Park, home to the world's largest collection of Mies Van der Rohe architecture, and Eastern Market, North America's largest open air food market.
  • Awesome location ~7 min to downtown Detroit. Area has a bus stop directly out front of it, making access very simple. Parking lot is gated, however the gate never seemed to close which made it seem less secure than what was suggested. Even so, I had no issues with my car ultimately. Kyle was very communicative and available during the trip, should anything have come up. The building that the apartment is in leaves a bit to be desired, however the unit itself was spotless & very well maintained. Numerous amenities from parking spot, to high speed wifi, to shower materials, & even an iron/ironing board were provided which boosted the overall value immensely. In summary, definitely a great spot to stay & I would stay again on my next trip to Detroit.

    Jake2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's place was clean, comfortable, and spacious! The apartment was within walking distance of grocery stores and parks, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • This is a very beautiful, comfortable apartment. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the host included several nice amenities, including body wash and shampoo in the shower. The one wrinkle that I would like to bring to the public's attention is that it is in a pretty dead neighborhood. The apartment is in a building that is off by itself and surrounded by poorly maintained park space.

Theyll accommodate to you as best as they can, great communication, they’ll check in with you just to see how things are going and if you need anything or if you have any question or concerns, the location is amazing, literally 5-10minute drive, 20-15minute walk to $7-$10 Uber’s just to get downtown to where all the excitement is! Beautiful, historic 3 bedroom house with lots of character in the North End neighborhood of Detroit. Great location makes it easy to get anywhere in Central Business District, the house is located in the center of the city (above Midtown) in a neighborhood with a tight community of neighbors! Close to Freeways: I-94, I-75, The Lodge (10), and a short walk to the Q-Line (Grand Blvd stop). Uber/Lyft/Taxis never have a problem locating the address and are at a shorter distance (2-4min wait time)!
Lots of natural light. Fast internet. 2 full bathrooms. Comfy chairs & privacy. Quiet. Driveway and backyard. Nearby gas station and liquor store(s).
The Historic North End of Detroit! Centralized location makes it a breeze to get anywhere, the house is located pretty much in the dead center of the city! Great community farms, ONE MILE is walking distance away, Oakland Avenue Farm is close-by. Easy commute to Hamtramck, New Center, Midtown, Downtown, Highland Park. Close to I-94, I-75, The Lodge (10), and a short walk to the Q-Line. Uber/Lyft/Taxis never have a problem locating the address and are at a shorter distance (2-4min wait time) than a lot of other areas further west and east!
  • Mike and Paulina were friendly, welcoming, and good communicators. I have a bad back so having the bed on the floor was tough for me, but that's my fault for not paying closer attention to the photos. All in all, it was a nice stay in Detroit.

    Una2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Michael & Paulina's was a gamechanger for my trip! It exceeded all my expectations. We got on right from the beginning, which is crucial for the very purpose of using Airbnb, you want to feel at home. It felt like a home away from home. They offered fantastic tips on food, things to do, took me to places I would otherwise not have been able to experience. I saw the sites I wanted to, there's no shortage of that, but to get a glimpse of what the locals do day to day, is what is most important to me and they made it happen! Their dog Jabba is the friendliest sweetheart and was great company. My bed was super comfy which was a dream after running around all day. On my last night, we all had dinner together which was the perfect way to end the trip. This will be my go to for any time I come to Detroit!

    Helen2018-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time exploring Detroit thanks to Michael and Paulina! Their house is beautiful, welcoming, and had everything I needed. Public transport was easy to take into downtown or the museums. They both also knew all the cool things to check out in Detroit and were easy to communicate with. Thanks!

    Stephanie2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • It all went pretty smoothly. Definitely would love to stay here if we visit again. Got to meet Michael and he was very understanding and helpful. Got to also meet Jabba who really loves you when he gets to know you.

  • Besides the fire alarm going off the experience was great. I will plan on staying at the Airbnb again!

  • very cool and spacious place. havent found anything this large and comfortable anywhere else in detroit. i suppose i should mention that the immediate area is a bit shady, but if most travelers should be feel plenty safe for a variety of reasons. thanks for the stay!

    Philip2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, a good rental and value, with a great location with loads of space, but had to give it 3 stars due to the lack of hot water (big issue especially when it is sub-zero temps outside) as it wasn't even what I would consider luke warm. To be fair, we didn't contact Kyle as we were only there 1 night and we didn't notice until ~2 hours before checking out; Pros: Cool loft, amount of space was incredible - bright and airy; Location was literally within 8-15 minutes of everywhere we went; check-in was a breeze; Cons: Wi-fi speed/connection was insufficient; No hot water, not even luke warm; Security - front door was propped open when we first got there (probably one of the other renters did this as a birthday party was going on), 2nd gate was open the entire stay and didn't close, so there was no need to go through the 1st gate with a code; No lights/lamp in the main living area

    Josh2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle was very accommodating and fulfilled almost every request I made, in an effort to keep my friends I was traveling with comfortable. However, I didn't know you had to request airbeds in advanced, one of the girls slept on the couch. Still, she said it ended being pretty comfy so I guess it wasn't terrible. The location of the loft isn't amazing. It's not the safest environment so I wouldn't walk around and you definitely need a car or uber to get around. Don't rely on public transit in this area. Beside that the loft was absolutely stunning and cozy and Kyle was a fantastic host!

    Kevin2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • I have been living overseas and couldn't figure out the a/c so I thought it was broken. Kyle immediately moved us to another unit and came out to meet us to make sure everything was okay. He was friendly and genuininely wanted to make us happy!

  • Great place and location.

    Nicholas2018-09-29T00:00:00Z

  • Morgan is an excellent host. She is extremely attentive and accommodating. I had a late check-in (around midnight) and Morgan didn't flinch. She made sure the place was ready to host. Not to mention Hamtramck is hidden jewel. Bonus points for the location.

    Devin2018-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan's place was a perfect crash pad for an out of town concert! Close to grocery stores and some great Polish food. Friendly neighborhood!

    Eric2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • When we first pulled up we were a little sketched out but I contacted Morgan right away and figured out the door situation. She answered right away, every time I needed something! Even brought me a fan and an extra key to the door because I told her my sister was coming to visit. She was so friendly and helpful!! The apartment itself is beautiful. You know how when you're a teen and you see apartments on urban outfitters and you wish it was yours? That's what this apartment was like. So clean, very trendy! Nice shower, and comfy bed. My conference that I attended was at the motor city casino and this was only ten mins from that/downtown Detroit. Also, the Coney Island underneath the apartment has pretty good food as well. Overall, a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend "the surf shack" thank you again Morgan!

  • Very clean and nice apartment. Located not too far from Detroit downtown (20min by car). Also some cool places to eat in the area very close to the apartment (bakery, cosney island hot dog..). If yo are looking for a not too expensive place to stay to visit Detroit during few days, I would recommend it!

Industrial studio loft in Corktown close to downtown, Cobo Center, coffee shops, bars, restaurants, brekky spots, the Detroit River, shopping, and accessible to everything else amazing in Detroit. Perfect spot for a weekend getaway or a romantic retreat. Lots of natural light and a dazzling view of downtown Detroit at night. I hope you will fall in love with Detroit as I have from this perfect nest in the heart of the city. ❤️
This loft is open, beautiful, and filled with natural light. This an open concept studio with a super comfy king sized bed, a full kitchen, and an enclosed bath with a tub and shower. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics (e.g., Aeropress, kettle, coffee maker) and I have some coffee and tea for your mornings. If you are more than two, I have a queen air mattress, a sectional, and an additional sofa that can sleep three individuals in the studio space shared with the bed. Corktown is amazing! It is home to the city's most eclectic coffee shops, bars, restaurants, breweries, record shops, cutest retail spots, and secondhand shops. Most are a 10-15-min walk or 5-min car ride away. The loft is also super close to downtown, all festivals (e.g., Movement, MoPop) and the Cobo Center (10-15 min walk); The Renaissance Center (RenCen, 6-min drive/27-min walk); and Hart Plaza is a 4-min drive/23-min walk past Rosa Park's old condo and the Detroit Riverwalk (a site of the Underground Railroad).
  • Our favorite place so far using Airbnb! The pictures don't do it justice. Danielle's place is beautiful, spacious, and comes with everything you need. We loved the natural lighting and rustic style; made for a perfect relaxation space during our down time. The host herself was so kind, easy to reach, flexible and patient. We realized a day before our trip that we needed to book another night and she could not have been more understanding and helpful. Thank you so much, Danielle! We can't wait to come back. BOOK HERE IF YOU'RE READING THIS!

    Dana2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and spacious. Easy to walk anywhere. Danielle made herself available to us whenever we needed and had great recommendations for food and drinks. She also dropped off bottled water to us after we inquired about the tap water.

    Desta2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Great hostess. ABSOLUTELY LOVED the ambience and style of this place! Way better than any hotel room.

    Dave2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • As first-timers to the city, Danielle was incredibly helpful and thoughtful in orienting us to some great spots for food, drinks, sightseeing, and shopping. The loft is beautifully styled and very spacious with lots of room to relax. It was raining during our stay, so we drove more than walked around the city, but we got a good feel for the popular spots in Corktown. Parking, check-in, and amenities were all clearly explained and detailed instructions sent before check-in. Great place to stay!

    Samantha2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very cool loft within walking distance of several really great restaurants and bars. Danielle also provided the most comprehensive list of activities and places I’ve ever received from an AirBnb. Despite its reputation Detroit is making a comeback and this is a great jumping off point for exploring all its new offerings!

    Freddy2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's loft is absolutely awesome, and she is a top-notch host! Beautifully renovated loft in an 1890s warehouse, close to both all downtown Detroit has to offer (which is a LOT!) and Corktown - small-town feel just a few blocks away with great shops (Eldorado), restaurants (Slows BBQ), and the personable Detroit Barber Co.! This will be our first housing choice when we come back to town! :)

    Nancy2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • A nice room, neighborhood is quiet, in a relatively good area. Building is a little rundown but not terrible. Neighbors were quiet and no problem.

    Andrew2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's place was fabulous! It was exactly what it looked like from the photos! Its super spacious and clean and she has done an amazing job designing the space. She also gave me an AMAZING list of places to check out while i stayed in Detroit. I wish i could give her 10 stars!! Hope to visit again soon!

Adventurers welcome! Stay here & help fund our renovation work as we bring this abandoned 1930s mansion back to life! House is RUSTIC & a WORK IN PROGRESS so be prepared. This private room comes with a King bed, and clean sheets & fresh towels. Air conditioner. Shared bathroom + shower & toilet. Shared kitchen. Common area. Other travelers also here so expect a community vibe! 5-15 mins bike to most top attractions. Perfect for biking explorers.
This is a very small private room with a king bed (Size: 76 in x 80 in). The room door is lockable. 3 bathrooms are shared and as we are actively renovating this place, parts of the house are under construction. There are currently 5 rooms available for booking, one with 2 single beds (shared sleeping room) and 4 private rooms with king beds. Since other travelers and our int'l volunteers helping us will be staying under the same roof and sharing the same bathroom / kitchen / lounge, the space will have a strong community vibe. It’s a great way to meet people from all around and we’ve made lots of friends while traveling and staying in this type of shared environment. With that being said, if you require more privacy, this is probably not the best place for you but most guests see it as a great way to meet people and embrace the community vibe as part of the adventure.
  • Home is located right out of downtown. Very easy to fine. Everyone was friendly. Home is portrayed accurately in description. Overral a good experience.

    Camille2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay with Jenny and Alex in Detroit. The location was super close to downtown, the Eastern Market, the Heidelberg Project and Belle Isle. The accommodations were exactly as described in the air b+b listing. It is being remodeled into a hostel/B&B. Personally, this was what I was looking for in Detroit as I'm interested in seeing first hand how people are rebuilding the city. The bed was outstandingly comfortable! There are thoughtful amenities like a hair dryer and shampoo if you forget yours. I felt safe in the neighborhood. I felt my car was safe parked on the street. The house has a code to get in which added to the safety factor. I will absolutely stay here again and am excited to see how the house develops.

    Grace2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • It has a potential. It is evolving

    John2018-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome, truly got to see an inside story of Detroit revival scene in action! A gorgeous Detroit house in process of being redone, the industrial kitchen from its years of being a nursing home was my favorite, especially the monster large gas range. Jenny and Alex were happy energetic people enthused about the whole process. With a mix of international students staying in the house, it was a chill community vibe. The house was easy to find, plenty of street parking. The fact that its only 7 minutes from the Antietam restaurant famed for its food and cocktails by Eastern Market is a plus. Then only 17 minutes from the Detroit River Sports where I did a stunning Detroit River kayak tour made it a winner. If you're the kind of person that gets geeked out by old industrial appliances, aging original wood details, radiators everywhere and excited about construction potential though the idea of renovation with lots of friendly roommates and still not feeling cramped at all, this is the real Detroit experience for you.

  • Xiao2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • All in all a great value. They had signs posted to direct us to our room and to other areas in the house. The bed was comfy and we felt secure and welcomed. Would stay here again for sure!

    Nicole2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • It's a little far from downtown but there are great areas nearby. I recommend Belle Isle highly. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff is very knowledgeable about the area and friendly. I had a lovely experience.

    Jennifer2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The bed was very clean and comfortable. Jenny was very upfront about the place being a "work in progress", so I knew what to expect. The location was perfect for everything I was doing in town and the price was just right. I really like the idea that by staying here I was contributing to the renovation. If you are looking for something simple with a comfy bed and don't mind a little unappealing aesthetics then I highly recommend staying here!

The Duck 'N' Roll inn is a three bedroom home situated on a urban duck farm. A combination of contemporary features and old-time cottage charm will keep you comfortable and cozy while you enjoy Detroit's east side. It is close to Grosse Pointe, and most Detroit destinations are quickly reached by freeway.
The Duck 'N' Roll Inn has been a home to journalists, documentary filmmakers, artists, performers, urban planners and explorers, and this year, a temporary home for families reuniting. It's been a joy to teach the kids about the ducks! The "Duck 'N' Roll Inn" is an eclectic farmhouse on an urban duck farm, officially known as Laid In Detroit. The farm provides pasture raised duck eggs to Rock City Eatery, as well as local residents. Located in the easy-going east side, Laid In Detroit was voted "Best Inner City Duck Farm" by the staff of the Metro Times. Though it's not so much an "inner city" vibe as it is a laid back oasis amongst urban sprawl. It encompasses 4 city lots full of trees and garden, The house has 3 bedrooms--a nautical room, and kid friendly room, and a spacious bedroom known as "the disco room," which features a large skylight, a woodburning stove, enormous chalk boards, and a sound system with a disco ball so that it doubles as a dance floor! There is one full bath with an extra wide jacuzzi tub, as well as a half bath on the first floor. The property also features a steel bbq in the form of a dinosaur, an adobe pizza oven on site, as well as panoramic views of the gardens and the ducks frolicking in the pasture. We have a new addition to the farm! Meg, the livestock guardian dog is keeping us safe from predators and prowlers. Great Pyrenees guardian dogs are known for their friendly, gentle demeanor, as well as their superior livestock guarding abilities. When you meet her, give her a biscuit and a pat. She loves guests! (By the way, the dog is off limits to the house unless invited! No worries if you are allergic or not an animal lover.) The house is full of character with a large kitchen and dining area. The property also has many ecological features, such as a green roof over the duck coop. Your stay here will not only be relaxing and fun, but educational as well. Typical guests who have really enjoyed the Duck 'N' Roll Inn are artists, urban gardening fans, photographers, journalists, film makers, animal lovers, students, musicians, world travelers and anyone with an adventurous mindset. You can also rest easy knowing that the money from your reservation is going directly to a small farm business in a developing neighborhood in Detroit. Laid In Detroit has hosts many events, including an annual Easter party for the kids.
Cornerstone Village, once a stable working class neighborhood founded by Belgian immigrants (some refer to it as "the Belgian triangle") has also been affected by the recent mass exodus from Detroit. But a strong coalition of homeowners with deep roots in the community have held things together. You will encounter some blight and vacant homes in the neighborhood. There are characters, and oftentimes people are out and about, playing music and socializing, but it is a friendly neighborhood. All guests have had a safe experience here. There are many great restaurants nearby, as well as bars, pubs, and grocery stores. The Cadieux Cafe and Ye Olde Tap Room have been around for a century. Trader Joe's and Kroger grocery are within walking distance.
  • This is a very unique place to stay in Detroit. Meg was awesome, the ducks were entertaining, and the building had loads of character. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Nicholas2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • A group of friends, A.S.S.I.S.T. (Adventure Seeking Sista's in Sensational Travel), have celebrated MLK weekend together for years. This year we decided to "staycate" in Detroit. Duck 'n Roll was perfect for us! Spacious and comfortable. Suzanne was very nice and readily available when we needed her, but only when we needed her! She was very accommodating in adding another bed as we had 5 in our group and she normally as 4 beds. The neighborhood is as expected from descriptions on her site; an example of Detroit revival! We are very impressed with what Suzanne is doing in the neighborhood. She is an impressive and inspiring woman! As others have stated, the ducks were fun to watch and Megan (the dog) is not only beautiful, but gentle and loving - also fun to watch on her protective perch on the picnic table! Thank you, Suzanne and Duck 'n Roll for providing a space for another great time to add to our memory list!

    Lynne2015-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to spend a night in Detroit. Unique and fun, and check-in was a breeze.

    Zach2015-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Duck N Roll Inn is a quiet, spacious imaginatively designed and outfitted house near the Detroit/Gross Pointe border. It was a very comfortable and convenient stay for our party of three, and we would stay there again were we to be in the Detroit area in the future. Ducks and a beautiful, friendly dog added unexpected delights.

    Bob2014-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Came through Detroit for a quick weekend trip and stayed at the duck n roll. Was traveling with a coworker and it was way more space than we really needed but it was neat. The Ducks were fun to feed and Meg the dog was so sweet. Communication with Suzanne was easy and quick to respond. Wish I could take the main bathroom setup home with me. Love the plants and natural light. Overall it made our work trip something to remember.

    Nicholas2015-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is my third time at the Duck and Roll in, and the place remains just as magical as ever. We love it here so much.

    Audra2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific, authentic Detroit experience. The place is about a 20 minute drive from all the usual landmarks and neighborhoods you'll want to visit if this is your first time to Detroit (it was for us). Because Detroit is so underpopulated relative to its size, its pure joy to drive around these enormous, scarcely populated boulevards. However, despite its distance from downtown relative to other AirBnb listings, it's very close to Grosse Pointe, one of the toniest neighborhoods in the United States. Some beautiful examples of Detroit residential architecture are very close by. The neighborhood that Suzaane's place is in is a mix of abandoned homes and homeowners. We never felt unsafe, and I thought this was a much better example of the "Two Detroits" (to be so close to both the luxury of Grosse Pointe and the blight of rest of the city) than some of the trendier places we visited like Corktown and Midtown. Thanks to Suzanne's place, I feel like I'm close to understanding Detroit in full. Ditto for all the nice things other have said about Suzanne, the dog, and, how can I forget, the ducks.

    J2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • The duck'n'roll'Inn is a very nice house. We felt like home in Suzanne's place! The hot tub jacuzzi is very cool. :) Suzanne and her dog are very welcoming. Closed to downtown (by car). I highly recommend her house!

This is the safest and one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in all Detroit. Through out all of Detroit there are pockets of wonderful neighbors, with emptiness and development between them. If you want a tree lined quiet street close to the city, this is it. Fully renovated last year. My wife and I love bringing back historic beauty to the city. 2 bedrooms, living room, full kitchen, new bathroom. Minutes from everything Detroit has to offer. Woodbridge Midtown area. 1st floor apt
It has a nice living room, two nice size bedrooms, fully remodeled bathroom, and a fully stocked kitchen. Easy access, tankless water heater (you will never run out of hot water), Nest, and a smart TV.
Woodbridge is one of the most beautiful areas of Detroit. Within 1-2 miles of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Whole Foods, Eastern Market, Downtown, Wayne State. Comerica Park, Ford Field, Masonic Temple, Fox Theater, Corktown. We are a quiet neighborhood only a mile or two from anything you want to see. Detroit safety and emptiness comes up often. This house is in the safest part of Detroit. We are the only area that is patrolled by three police departments due to Wayne State University and the variety of medical centers near by. Many are thrown off by the current state of Detroit. There are amazing small "islands" of great neighborhoods throughout the city, but a lot of emptiness, grafitti, and development between all of them. You can't escape it if you are staying in Detroit. It's the nature of our city. This house is in one of the safest and most quiet neighborhoods in all of Detroit. We are only a mile from city center and most attractions. My reviews tend to be all 5 stars except sometimes we fall short in "location". I attribute this to guests being unfamiliar with Detroit, so I am trying to give a more detailed background of the nature of our city.
  • This was our second time staying at George's place. Won't hesitate to stay here every time we're in Detroit! Safe, clean and quiet, it's just an overall awesome place!

    Candice2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gave us tons of great recommendations. The house was so much better than getting a hotel, felt right at home

  • Comfy beds, gorgeous apartment, great location

    Ryan2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood is nice and quiet. George's house is beautiful, as you get the full historic yet modernized Detroit home.

    Austin2016-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. Stayed one night and other than the guest in the upstairs apartment being awake and moving about throughout the night, our stay was lovely. Sat on the front porch, beds were comfortable, all amenities you need.

    Jessica2018-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable stay and would return on future visits to Detroit. Homes in the neighborhood reminded us of Ralphie's house in A Christmas Story :) All was as described in the listing. Since it is an older home, we worried about it being drafty/cold at night, but we were toasty in our very comfy beds.

    Elaine2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • George's place is the only spot I want to stay at when I'm back home in detroit. Great house, great neighborhood.

    Taurell2015-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • George's place is a neat renovation of a home in a historic Detroit neighborhood. It has charm with modern conveniences like a neat digital thermostat. The street itself is alright, but it's definitely on the border with some shady territory. That being said, we never felt unsafe, and there were families with children out walking in the afternoon. One block west there are some really great old buildings, and impressive graffiti art pieces. Location is within 10 minutes drive of all the downtown/midtown attractions. George was responsive via text, and he left a nice sheet of instructions and suggested restaurants. My personal favorite was the bathroom. It was super nice. I would recommend this place, and would consider staying again in the future.

Few minutes to Caesar's Casino and downtown You are a few minutes ' walk of the Detroit Riverside Park。 My listings close to nightlife, public transport, suitable for family activities. Because of location, landscape, and you will fall in love with my listings. My houses are ideal for couples, solo travelers adventure, business travellers, families with young children.
The house is composed of four old Winsor apartments, located in a very quiet old quarter. Between the four apartments is very independent. The house is a bit old but beautiful, and you live in a house that will make you feel back to the past of Winsor.
You live in this house, you will be very surprised. Close to the bar and a few minutes to the city center. Going out is shops, groceries and restaurants. Block bus, a minute is the station. The most important thing is to get through the Detroit Tunnel. 5 minutes' walk to the casino and Detroit riverside park.
  • Very stylish place! It was cozy and comfy. Shiyun was really helpful with check-in and making sure we knew how to access the suite.

  • Shiyun was quick to answer any questions. As others have described, my husband and I saw snacks and a bowl full of fruit for us on the table with milk in the fridge. We loved that. Also there was shampoo & conditioner in the shower! The parking in the back was a great plus. We arrived on one of the hottest days ever and Shiyun put two portable AC units in to make sure we were comfortably cool during our stay. Thank goodness for free WiFi; it was available when we needed it the most. We will definitely be staying overnight here again.

This beautiful and spacious apartment is the entire first floor of a two floor duplex in a historic home conveniently located in the heart of Corktown. Unit has a private entrance, large bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom.
  • Michelle’s space was a dream. A few blocks from really great places like Sugar House & Astro Coffee. She’s a lovely host. Will definitely book again!

    Dominika2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s place is incredible! If you are coming to Detriot, stay here it’s spaceious and cozy, near several neat restaurants and eateries. She recommended a Thai place and it was awesome! There’s also a great little bagel shop that can’t be missed. Michelle was quick to respond and was uber helpful. Looking forward to staying again.

  • Michelle was a fantastic host. She made everything a smooth process, and always got back to us right away. Her house was very clean, and there wasn't any issues. Would recommend bookIng with Michelle.

  • My husband and I stayed in Michelle's place for 6 nights and enjoyed every bit of it. Michelle's place is beautiful! We felt like we were truly staying in part of Detroit's history. It is decorated beautifully and we couldn't get over how big it is! The checkin/check out process was very smooth and Michelle was very responsive to any questions we had. The location is perfect, we walked pretty much everywhere. Close to good restaurants, coffee, live music spaces and more. We met the tenants upstairs who were all extremely welcoming and gave us great suggesting on touring the city and experiencing the Detroit vibe. Thank you Michelle for such a wonderful stay, when my husband and I return to Detroit, which we certainly plan to do, we hope to stay in your place again. Cheers!

  • My husband and I had a great time at Michelle's home. It's a beautiful place with a lot of space. It's clean and comfortable and in a great location. Michelle is flexible with checking in and out and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend staying here.

    Leah2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised! It was a really convenient location if you're heading to a show, concert, game downtown. Michelle's communication made everything easy. Would definitely stay here again if I'm in the city.

    Sean2017-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful historic home. Listing is accurate that there are little quirks but that was expected! Layout is very long but space is huge. Home is located on a quiet street. Walkable to downtown and to Corktown (if you are a somewhat active person - 10-20 min walk to each). Came to Detroit to watch a baseball game and walked to the park twice. Would help to have a few more pillows on the bed!

    Mikaela2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this place. Very big and stylishly decorated. Close to cool bars/restaurants. Easy check in. Note that I think it says there is no air conditioning but there was a great air conditioner in the bedroom that worked great.

  • Clean; great for a group of five; great location that's close to everything.

  • This was the PERFECT spot to stay for a working professional creative. The space was airy and easy and comfortable and having gated parking is unheard of!

    Jennifer2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the space. Check-in was easy, instructions were detailed and clear. Apartment itself was fantastic, and way exceeded expectations. The pictures do not do justice to how huge the loft is. Location was fairly central, right on the fringe between gentrified Detroit and rougher areas. Would highly recommend to anybody looking for something off the beaten path a bit, will definitely be visiting again.

    Leif2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot for two couples to share. Really comfortable, filled with natural light and very convenient and secure parking.

    Andrea2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, close to downtown and there's a really cool bar next door with some interesting events. The check in process was awesome and the space was exactly as pictured. Very clean, extremely comfortable beds. I'd really suggest this place for any group event, it was wicked for our bachelor party! Couldn't have imagined better.

  • Excellent experience. It was our second visit to Chap lofts and it didn't disappoint. Spotless, enormous space and very effective communication with Kyle and Martha. We found the place a bit noisier than in the last visit, but it is still an excellent option.

  • Centrally located. Be back sgain.

This is our home, but my wife and I are volunteering with the YMCA trying to help the refugee crisis in Greece for a minimum of six months. Your stay is our source of funds keeping us there, and we thank you! Original details and a historic beauty. Super clean! Backyard, deck, close to DIA, Downtown, Stadiums, Midtown. About the Cleaning Fee: I get none of this amount. There is a neighborhood group of three that help maintain the place. All cleaning fees are a living wage that goes to them.
This house is our home, and you will love it. Very clean, with great detail. Some furnishing will change once we move out, but the aesthetics and the quality will be the same. Pool room is separate if desired.
We are in one of the best areas of Detroit. We are very close to downtown. It is a quaint little neighborhood with tree lined streets and great neighbors. Detroit safety and emptiness comes up often. This house is in the safest part of Detroit. We are the only area that is patrolled by three police departments due to Wayne State University and the variety of medical centers near by. Many are thrown off by the current state of Detroit. There are amazing small "islands" of great neighborhoods throughout the city, but a lot of emptiness, graffiti, and development between all of them.
  • Loved George's place! Unique 113 year old house with tons of character. The decor is very tasteful and there are fun pieces of nostalgia everywhere. The house was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our needs. Neighborhood is safe and convenient for getting around town. Because no one was checking in right after me, George even allowed a late check out too.

    Sharon2016-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Place was really nice. Lots of great info about things to do. We especially enjoyed the pool room.

    Jerrad2017-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • When traveling on my own dime, I often look to airbnb to find cool, kitschy and sometimes historic locations. Looking at George's listing, one gets the sense that this place ticks all of those boxes. Upon visiting the place, you immediately realize that this place is a dream. Much of that dream is in the details. An awesome turn of the last century mansion, George's spot has been preserved much better that some of the less fortunate houses in Detroit and that is a big part of the charm. It is centrally located, just a 5 minute drive from Cobo Hall and even closer to Corktown and Mexican Village. The details abound, from the quaint exterior to the collection of vintage TVs and other unique items around the house. If you keep looking, you will find neat stuff like a dumbwaiter! The wifi in the house is lightning fast, even with 4 journalists cranking out online content. The attic pool bar is the best touch, as we hung out up there each night when we were done work for the day. Both bathrooms are cool, one modern and one vintage. Beds are comfy. And now the negatives. First off, if you have made it this far, you probably won't care about this stuff. First off, even though this neighborhood is in great shape, it is still modern Detroit and the visuals of burned out or falling down homes might be disturbing to some. Really, it is part of the charm of Detroit, but one must still be careful when walking at night. The house is 113 years old and is huge. It fits the very definition of a big, drafty old house. Even with the most modern of thermostats, on a super cold night, parts of the house were chilly. It is what it is. In all, George's place is one of the coolest I have rented from Airbnb and my group are already making plans to return!

This loft is the essence of what Detroit has to offer; sophisticated design, history, technology and an appreciation for nature. 5 minutes from Belle Isle & Downtown, on the Riverwalk and next to an upgraded park. Fully equipped, for up to six people. Close to Belle Isle, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Chene Park, Joe Louis Arena, Fox Theatre, the Masonic Temple, Cobo Hall, Detroit Institute of Arts, the Fillmore, Hart Plaza and Little Caesar's Arena.
The loft is a wide open space located near the heart of Downtown. Large windows allow for natural light to illuminate the loft during the day and my smart-lights allow for an array of colors at night, which can be controlled directly from your smartphone. Artwork and photos decorate the walls along with objects I've collected along my travels. The perfect place to come back to relax to after a crazy day in Detroit! 20ft projector screen with Xbox One with 2 controllers and Xfinity Cable, new furniture, 5 color changing smartphone controlled lights, iPhone 6s+ to use to easily control the lights or surf the web, full closet and storage for clothing/luggage, record player (request a few albums to have!), work station, decanter & wine set, 2 LED systems under each bed, touch free soap dispenser, plant life and a short guide for the best things to do while in Detroit. Very comfortable queen size beds to wake up to a view of Downtown in the morning with privacy curtains for each room.

  • Christopher's place was awesome. We absolutely love the location and rustic character of the building. He was very responsive to our many inquiries during our stay. Highly recommended for a short or long term stay.

    Lejena2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • I needed a place to sleep for one night and which would be fairly convenient to dwtn for the right price. this met my needs. I ended up sending a message about the iPhone in the place running out of juice (it's used to turn on the lights) and got a rapid response. whoever put the place together has a nuanced sense of style combined with an advanced understanding of efficient use of space. I enjoyed this effort, even though I slept for about 9 hrs of the 11 hours I was there. that said, they worked with what they had. you can only wonder what they'd do when the building is eventually upgraded. things to note - while I'm not a complete technophobe, I get irritated with using tech (apps) for that which at one time I only needed to flick a switch. this place probably isn't good for technophobes. but, the place is candy for technophiles (or maybe any one under my age of 44 and who isn't on the disadvantaged side of the digital divide). I'd recommend this spot and would choose to stay again.

  • First of all, wow. If you’re looking for a stylish, open loft in Detroit this is it. High ceilings, modern finishes, nice wood floors, and cool lighting you can control from an app on your phone! You also have Alexa for use as well! Very close to Belle Isle and all other downtown attractions. Christopher was a wonderful host. He was very clear with his directions upon entering the unit. He also gave a few good tips on where to visit and was overall very friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience I will be coming back next time I visit Detroit.

    Jocelyn2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • I definitely enjoyed my stay here. It is technology friendly, so if you’re not with the technology you might want a different stay lol. I loved being able to control the lights with my phone, and the projector made watching tv fun. You’re walking distance to the river walk and has an amazing view of the water and Canada. 5 min from Belle Isle, Great location. Lastly Christopher was quick to respond to any issues, even at 4am!

    Dre2018-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed for just one night as I was passing through. I loved the place, it looks just like the pictures. The building is old which adds to the charm. The lift itself is very clean and well decorated. There is plenty of space to move about. I could easy see this a the place to stay when visiting Detroit with friends or as a couple. Christopher is an excellent host, quick with responding and helpful with ideas for the area. The location is close to lots, but away from the busy. If it were nice I would have enjoyed wandering through the park out the back of the building. Red hook is just a mile away and makes great coffee -they serve stump town.

George's house was great for our family. We gathered here for our son to get married and we were so close to his house. The house is located in a great neighborhood. During the day, we could walk to the DIA, and other museums and we could even walk downtown.

This apartment is great--especially if you're heading to Comerica park or Ford field. Spacious and clean. Looks a little run down on the outside but is very nice on the inside. Definitely recommend if you're spending the weekend in Detroit. Would stay there again!

My daughter and I enjoyed staying in the studio at Eastern Market. Allison, our host, greeted us when we arrived. She escorted us to the studio and showed us everything. Allison was very helpful and I texted her several times when I had questions about the area and responded quickly. The apartment was immaculate - freshly painted white walls, beautiful dark floors and cabinetry, fully stocked kitchen with oven, fridge and microwave. The bathroom was great with plenty of storage. The location was great and several blocks away from Eastern Market, five minute drive to the river and ten minutes from downtown, midtown and Ford Field Stadium. I highly recommend this location because it is a few blocks from Eastern Market, a five minute drive to the river and ten minutes to Ford Field Stadium and downtown Detroit. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.
