Just booked in Detroit

Just booked in Detroit
Walk to Belle Isle, 6 min drive to downtown! A spacious 1BR corner loft overlooking the river and two parks. Lots of light and beautiful view. Convenient location off Jefferson Ave and Detroit's Riverwalk. Gated parking for one car. First time visitors to Detroit and city regulars will enjoy using my loft as a base of operations. I've been a contributing author to Wildsam Field Guides, an eclectic guidebook publisher, and have great recommendations for most cravings in this unique city.
I have a few spaces in Detroit. If this loft is unavailable, check one of my other cool spots: https://www.airbnb.com/users/6405993/listings This loft is beautiful, open, and full of light. A perfect retreat in Detroit. I grew up in Montana, lived in India for a few years, and ran a journalism startup in Detroit called Jaunt, so I have decorated my place with remnants of my travels. I also contributed to a Detroit guidebook called WildSam Field Guides, so I can help you put together a good itinerary or fill any holes you might have. I mostly live on my sailboat during the summer and I teach Marine Science on a sailing school vessel. The loft is all open except for the bathroom. The bedroom is separated by a wall without a ceiling. The kitchen has all the basic essentials and utensils plus coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, etc. for breakfast. I have an HDTV with Blu-Ray, Roku, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and an HD OTR antennae for NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. Then there's the bed. Queen and super comfortable - I splurged on the bed because good sleep is really important to me. For extra guests, there is a queen pull-out sofa in the common area. The apartment can accommodate up to four (two in each queen bed) but you're starting to get a little cramped. I will decline requests for greater than four people unless you have a special circumstance. There are two A/C units: one window-mounted right next to the bed and the other in the living room space. They do a good job on the loft 90% of the time, but if the sun is glaring and it is scorching hot, they won't be able to create the refrigerated A/C frigidity we are used to with central air. The bedroom unit works perfectly if you shut the door to the common area. In the winter, you can turn the heat up as much as you like and make it toasty warm.
I moved here in October, 2014 from the nearby West Village area where there are a few great new restaurants, like Craft Work, Detroit Vegan Soul, and Red Hook Coffee. The loft is on the Riverwalk, which is a bike/walk trail connecting you to downtown and Eastern Market via the Dequindre Cut, a converted rail line that runs off of the Riverwalk. I am also walking distance to the Belle Isle bridge. The building is kitty corner to a Coast Guard base, a U.S. Federal building, and the offices of a private security firm. The streets are lit and other residents of the building are frequently coming and going. I have always felt that the area around where I live is quite safe.
  • The appartment is really nice and spacious. We were provided with fresh towels and sheets at our arrival. Although Thane wasn't available when we arrived, which was late in the evening, he arranged for someone to open the appartement for us and to show us everything. It is located near to the river and to bell isle which is a lovely place to go jogging or have a nice view of Detroit. Thane was a perfect host and provided us with good recommendations in advance. The only negative thing is that the heating can be loud at some times and you can also hear the neighbours so take some earplugs with you.

    Ulrich2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I loved meeting Thane and his mom, Karen. They greeted us with warmth and friendliness. We enjoyed the loft very much - our favorite place to stay in Detroit. The bed is super comfortable.

  • Thane's airy and spacious loft in Detroit was the perfect place to stay for the long weekend. Thane was a gracious and accommodating host. He gave us excellent recommendations for sightseeing & dining. All within comfortable driving distance from his place. Also- there were plenty of spaces to park near the front of the building which was a huge plus. Thanks for everything, Thane!

  • Great hostess, great location and view. It's a wonderful cozy loft

    Amer2018-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had stopped in Detroit simply to break up a long drive home and quickly realized this area is a worthy destination all on its own. The loft is stunning. Very clean, stylish, comfortable, great location. We would happily stay here again. The communication was great and the tips to local eateries were spot on. Highly recommended!

    Laura2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is very unique and beautiful - giant windows, high ceilings, and wood everywhere. The host was very helpful and responsive. While we enjoyed our stay, it was unusually hot in Detroit that weekend and the air conditioning struggled to keep up. It's also a bit loud as you can hear everything from the neighbors above and noise from outside the apartment.

    Eli2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • I travel to Detroit often and my time in the city is time that I treasure and most of the time I am there working and have very little flexibility. For both of those things Thane's place was amazing. It's close to everything, it's on the river walk, it is in a gorgeous location, it has a grocery within walking distance, it's beautiful, hassle free and felt safe. I travel to Detroit alone and when I was needing a calm quiet space, Thane's was perfect. The kitchen was wonderful, the bed was comfy and the view is to die for. Also, iron street is something you don't want to miss. I never wanted to leave. Thane is amazing! So helpful and kind. He let me borrow his bike and I took it to slow roll, he lent me his copy of the Wild Sam guidebook and he was wonderful to be in contact with. A magnificent host. I will be booking with Thane again on my next trip to Detroit.

A beautiful, open, airy loft space housed within a completely renovated 1926 industrial building. Centrally located on Woodward Avenue, steps away from the Amsterdam stop of the newly-installed QLINE in New Center. Hop on, and be anywhere you'd like in New Center, Midtown, or Downtown in minutes. Relax, you're home.
This is a modern loft apartment housed within a completely renovated 1926 building that originally housed graphic artists for General Motors, and other companies. Designed by famed-Detroit architect Albert Kahn, you'll notice the signature art-deco front-facade and incredible lobby of the building. All the character of the loft is still intact, from the concrete floors, brick exterior wall, and the mushroom columns Albert Kahn was known for. Home includes a large kitchen, front load washer and dryer, incredibly fast internet with wifi and one bedroom with a queen-sized bed. This building is incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing; while being just blocks away from anything you'd want to do in the city. Kitchen includes gas stove/oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator, toaster, pots, pans, coffee maker, and any other utensils you need to call Detroit home for a few days. You'll find a single bedroom (this was originally a studio unit, but has been converted into a completely-walled one bedroom unit). Beautifully comfortable queen bed, small dresser, and chair. The main bathroom includes a subway tile shower/tub, sink, and any towels and amenities you'll need to make your stay perfect. Awesomely comfy white cotton sheets are included in the bedroom. The living room includes a couch (can be used for extra sleeping space, but isn't a pull-out), coffee table, and two chairs. 50" HDTV is hooked up to an Apple TV with Netflix. Outdoor space includes a small patio (which you'll enter from) with two bistro chairs and table. Enjoy the sunny back-alley of the building with a drink of your choice from the fridge. Local spots within walking/biking distance include the incredibly beautiful art-deco Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings; Midtown Shopping (Shinola, Willys, Nora, Hugh, Carhartt, Fellow Barber, City Bird, Nest, and more); the mid-century gardens and campus at Wayne State, and more. Local attractions include the city and public art, Belle Isle with its beaches, waterpark, Albert Kahn designed conservatory and aquarium, and trails. The world is your oyster. Restaurants nearby including fast food, Northern Lights Lounge, Falafill, Dangerously Delicious Pies, City Wings, Motor City Brewing Works, Jolly Pumpkin, and more. The loft is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication. Taking photos during your stay? Make sure you #thatdetroitloft.
Awesome location right on Woodward at the Midtown/New Center border. Just a few blocks either way to a ridiculous amount of inspiration, character, activities, and restaurants. Take in the Detroit Institute of Arts, or check out the art-deco skyscrapers of New Center.
  • The Loft was beautiful and Jesse was a perfectly accommodating host!

    Yoni2016-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse's place is pretty bad ass. I was working about 30 minutes from here and wanted to stay in Detroit. His place is safe, his suggestions for spots are right on and the design of the loft is as you see it in the pics. Looking forward to my return trip.

    David2015-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • My experience at Jesse was Fantastic. New street train from downtown called Q-LINE just opened last week and it makes more combinient. The location is in safe area and it's walkable to midtown. Cool decor and comfortable bed, clean room and great kitchen and bathroom. Would highly recommended to anyone come to Detroit.

    Makiko2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this apartment. Comfortable, clean and great design. Parking was convenient too.

    David2017-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I use Airbnb a lot and this is by far the most stylish, convenient, affordable, amazing stay we have had. Perfect location, perfect host, fast communication, perfect for photos, and perfect for 4 people comfortably. Cannot wait to come back this Summer!

    Anna2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • I came to Detroit for the weekend and was immediately captivated by Jesse's tasteful loft. It was impeccably clean and was the perfect setup for two people. As a first-timer, I appreciated all the curated local guidebooks and magazines. And as someone who always travels with a Macbook Pro, the monitor/speaker situation was perfect for me to plug in to. Jesse was a thoughtful host with a great list of recommendations and very professional level of communication. Can't wait to stay again!

    Sam2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse's place is big, cozy, and a really nice place to spend some time. The record player is a nice touch. Furniture is all very comfy. Parking is on the street if needed and neighborhood is very safe despite feeling a little deserted in the evenings. Would stay again if I went back to Detroit. Jesse was communicative but we didn't need much. Place was self explanatory.

    Jason2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet little haven near Wayne State University. Absolutely love the place, and love the audiophile setup. Will definitely look this listing up next time we head to Detroit.

Welcome to Woodbridge Farm! ...a friendly, spacious & quiet neighborhood, close to all of the happenings in/around Detroit. Enjoy the newly renovated 2nd floor of our 1884 Historic house. The apt is cozy w/ yummy architectural/design details.
WOODBRIDGE FARM: We love it here! ...very special and unique. The street is filled with Urban Pioneers and creative types; artists, musicians, gardeners, and makers. You will find that most homes sit on larger pieces of land, giving Woodbridge Farms a unique feel. Many of the houses in the area have undergone impressive renovations, and for the others the renovation is underway. We have completed the interior renovations of this home, and soon we will start renovation on the house next door, which we also own. From the outside they look a little rough, but keep coming back and you will be able to witness the transformation! US & OUR RENOVATION PROJECTS: We are longtime Detroiter’s. We are committed to the City, and we are so happy to have been a part of the revitalization of Detroit. We love old homes …and we love to renovate them! Zac is a general contractor, and Renee is an Interior Designer. Together, we have been restoring old homes in Woodbridge for the last 15 years. LOCATION: You are a short walk/drive from Detroit’s midtown area, where you will find a variety of restaurants and shopping. Both Corktown and Downtown are within a few miles. It is a very quiet neighborhood, conveniently located to all major freeways. Lots of parking. THE LISTING: Newly renovated, with the best of care. Open plan kitchen, dining, and living. King size bed with fine linens and nice pillows. The bedroom windows are opposite the sun rise. It is a very peaceful space, bright, open and fresh. We are sure you will love the apartment. It is clean and private. We have an office on the first floor that is completely separate from the space. Zac is typically there M-F 9-5 should you need to fax ,copy or have any questions. If you have any special requests we will do our best to accommodate you, if given a bit of notice. We live 2 blocks away from the apartment should anything urgent come up.
  • This is an incredible place within walking distance to Midtown. I can't do justice to how lovely, spacious, and well-designed the apartment is - you really should book it and see for yourself. Zac and Renee were super responsive and provided all expected amenities, plus running route recommendations! Comfortable bed, functional kitchen, good hosts, and the spectacular design (!) - a perfect stay.

    Cara2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Zac & Renee home. It was very spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable. The house entry is well lighted at night and a quiet neighborhood. Only 15 minutes to downtown. The house cat Taco was very friendly and non-intrusive as well. We highly recommend staying here. Bruce & Lisa Truckey Duluth, MN

    Bruce2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best mini-moon/honeymoon imaginable here. The apartment is gorgeous, secluded but within walking distance of everything - downtown, Corktown, the Art Institute, vegan hotdogs at the UFO factory, excellent coffee at Great Lakes and Astro. We cannot recommend staying here enough. Our hosts gave us privacy but were there whenever we had any questions. The cat Taco is the sweetest cat on earth but independent too. Stay here! It is everything you could want and more.

    Cait2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place was really awesome!! Loved everything about it. It was amazing being your guest! I will definitely come back!!

    Badr2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic place! It's clean, comfortable, spacious and well-decorated. Zac & Renee have thought of every little detail you could possibly need during your trip, and then some. They were responsive, thorough, and respectful. It's clear that they've put a lot of love into the apartment and the building, and we would definitely stay here again.

  • Hip, bright, lovely, spacious apartment, thoughtfully decorated and located just close enough to the best of Detroit. Super comfortable king sized bed! I'm a frequent Airbnb user, and this was easily one of my favorite places I've stayed at. Loved the vibe and openness of the space.

    Karen2017-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • I was in town for work and to visit some old friends. Zac and Renee’s place is in a great location - not to mention it’s spacious, beautiful, comfortable, and clean. I have zero complaints! They were quick answering my questions and everything was as described. I was even blessed with a couple visits from Taco, the sweetest cat that ever was. Thanks for everything!

Upstairs from Slows BBQ and on the same block as Astro, Sugar House and Gold Cash Gold, this two-bedroom neighborhood inn provides an immersive, welcoming travel experience in the heart Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood.
A small-scale, design-focused Detroit inn, Honor & Folly is reminiscent of the way folks used to travel: a few beds above the village pub or restaurant. You'll be immersed in this historical neighborhood that's also at the forefront of the city's current revitalization. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit (made the 40 "Best Food Lovers Hotels in America" Awards), The Globe and Mail, Details Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller UK, and Afar. With a prime Corktown location, you'll be situated smack into the middle of one of the most thriving, charming and walk-able neighborhoods in the city—right across from the city’s most beautiful icon of urban decay: the old train station. Admire it up-close or enjoy the beautiful view through the big living room windows—you can even see the Ambassador Bridge! Sharing a block with Slows, Astro, Gold Cash Gold and Sugar House, Honor & Folly also offers plenty of other nearby bars, shops and restaurants within a quick stroll (I provide guests with a list of my favorite recommendations), as well as easy access to downtown. The well-appointed space is decorated with goods made by Detroit and Midwest-based designers and artisans—much of which is also for sale. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, for a capacity of four people, with additional possible sleeping arrangements for kids. From time to time, Honor & Folly is used as a community space, hosting workshops or events, but you will have the space entirely to yourself during your stay. OTHER AMENITIES: outdoor balcony | local design | fully stocked cooking kitchen | potential to arrange custom catering, private dinner parties, etc.
  • Meghan has created a stunning space right in the heart of Corktown. Getting in to the space was super easy and Meghan was responsive throughout our stay.

    Patrick2016-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Meghan is a welcoming host. This was our first experience with airbnb and she helped us along the way. We got great information about the area and places to visit. The location was perfect for us, very close to the places we wanted to visit and easy to get around the city.

    Leisa2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the apartment -- cool, clean, roomy and welcoming. Super stylish. And the neighborhood is terrific -- Great food, bars and even shops on the block and nearby. Will definitely stay there again.

    Adam2016-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is amazing! The place was super comfy, clean, and well equipped. It was also located near a a couple of great restaurants, a bar, coffee shop, and downtown Detroit. Meghan was more than accommodating, even though we were a little early. We will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Detroit!

    Joshua2012-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a great base for exploring the city. Many Detroit neighbourhoods are isolated from one another, and this location gave us both a good central location for daytime roaming and the perfect nighttime locale for food and drink, with multiple great restaurants and two terrific bars (including an excellent distillery tasting room). Furthermore, an amazing coffeeshop is right downstairs to start each morning in the best possible way. Don't miss nearby Mexicantown, which is amazingly inexpensive and has possibly the best Mexican food outside the southwestern U.S. Detroit is fascinating, and I can't imagine a better Airbnb from which to explore this great American city.

    Paul2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! We had a great stay and the host was friendly and helpful.

    Jade2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay, fun/funky/eclectic apartment, great neighborhood.

    Michael2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We found Honor & Folly via airbnb. As Detroit recommendations came through our network here in Indianapolis, most of our food/drink/coffee recommendations happened to be on the same block! Slows Barbeque, Sugar House and Astro Coffee to name a few! We were in town for a conference and were pleasantly surprised that the locals knew exactly where we were staying by name, Honor & Folly. The exterior/design, attention to detail in bringing in locally made products was what won us over. This place is great and will definitely return!

  • Kyle is an awesome host! We rented the entire second floor of his property for a staff retreat my organization had in Detroit and it was great. I asked him a million questions beforehand that he answered promptly & he was also around to help with check-in. The pictures are all very accurate and depict the space well. Though the location isn't close to restaurants & things, I thought the neighborhood was awesome and fun to walk around to see all of its history. A few of my colleagues weren't too keen on the fact that there weren't curtains on the windows (definitely wouldn't be able to sleep-in late here), and that the space is not sound proof. Kyle communicated this with us, but it is worth noting that some of the bedrooms do not have doors and are "semi-private". Would definitely book again!

    Madelyn2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The process of entering the building seemed a bit convoluted, albeit necessarily so, considering the nature of self check in. The loft was even larger than the photos give it credit for. It was a very unique space and I would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a creative getaway.

    Doron2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay!

    Samuel2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place, and Kyle is an out-of-this-world host! I reserved Kyle's place for a group that I manage that was in town for an event. The place was perfect for them. Plus Kyle is an amazing host. He cares about the experience of his Airbnb-ers. He also goes above and beyond -- when we needed an extra bed he was quick to drop off an air mattress and linens. Highly recommend!

    Vanessa2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Kyle was amazing. He is awesome and very professional. The loft we stayed is was exactly like the pictures, I'm the type of person that I read just about every review before I even consider booking and when I read Kyle reviews at least 100% of them was positive!! so I booked, when my friends and I arrived and walked into our loft it was beautiful, looked EXACTLY like the pictures. Very clean, very big, everything was perfect and I don't have one complaint! Thanks Kyle for everything and I will be booking with you again!

    Justine2016-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space to stay in an amazing city. Would definitely stay there again.

    Martin2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • My family stayed at Kyle's loft on a road trip through Detroit. The place was super clean and absolutely HUGE. My mom thought the bar next door was a little loud at night, but it was much quieter in the bedrooms (it was also a Saturday night, so just keep that in mind--this would be a great spot if you're planning to go out). Would definitely stay here again!

    Eric2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay, from the moment we walked in we were thoroughly impressed with the loft. It's gorgeous! My only tip for future guests would be to avoid walking around in your skivvies- There were a few men on the roof directly outside the window in the morning. Awkward. Overall we'd recommend staying in the lofts. Definitely can't beat the price!

  • The cleanest + simplest AirBNB we've ever stayed in; and we've stayed in many. Has everything you need and literally nothing you don't. Keyless entry was incredibly convenient, location central and communication with Sarah was hassle-free. ***** out of *****

My husband, Matt, and I have a lovely flat in Hamtramck that has been restored to its original 1920s charm. Our style is intentional and warm, and decorations include things that we have collected through the years that have meaning to us. • Everything was clean, organized and cared for. The upcycled apartment decor was on point. Always communicated well and greeted by the hosts. Great place !

  • Very accommodating hosts, cute flat with all the desired amenities including coffee and tea, shampoo and conditioner, and Netflix. Well designed space makes it cozy as well as cool - number of repurposed wood pieces. Note that it is upstairs in the same house as the guests, but there is an easy and separate entrance around back. Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces right in front of the house.

  • Sweet apartment - very comfortable with gracious hosts. Easy street parking and close to downtown Detroit by car. Highly recommend this place- we stayed with our nearly 3 year old and he gives it high marks too :)

  • My boyfriend and I went to Detroit for a concert and the place was absolutely beautiful. It's much bigger than it looks in the photos. It was spacious, comfortable and extremely convenient. The garden out back was beautiful too. Great place to stay.

    Courtney2015-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is the kind of place I'm hesitant to say good things about for fear of it becoming difficult to book. But to be fair to Matt & Meredith, I have to say their flat is charming, cozy, and quiet, with thoughtful touches throughout the apartment. I especially enjoyed reading the history of the house-- That and the view out the back window made me feel as if I could've been staying at my grandparents house when I was a kid. The location is in the heart of Hamtramck, walking distance to pretty much all the spots of interest in that area, and a few minutes drive to Cass Corridor and downtown. I hope to stay there again sometime in warmer weather so I can take advantage of the bike tours from the new Wheelhouse location nearby.

  • This cozy home was a respite for me. I was charmed by the decor, the details, and the peaceful energy infused throughout the apartment. It is spacious and thoughtful, with gentle lighting, hint of vintage simplicity, and all the amenities a weary traveler could wish for. Check-in was simple and Matthew and Meredith were responsive and gave me great local suggestions for public art. As an Airbnb host myself, I am always looking for gems like this. These folks are doing everything right, and with heart.

    Britt2017-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew and Meredith's place is very cozy! It's an open space with wood floors, shaggy/chic vibe, a large bathroom, and a beautiful clawfoot. This place offers a great value within a relatively short driving distance to most of Detroit's shopping, eating, and nightlife areas. :) The hosts are great with communication. They offer plenty of information on Detroit activities.

    Jon2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous place this is! We had a fabulous stay in the roomy loft. They were extremely responsive to messages and questions and helpful with suggestions. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • Our stay at Connie and Alissa's was fantastic. The apartment was incredibly comfortable and clean and easy to navigate. They are great hosts. Their instructions, guidebooks, and advice about the city made our visit to Detroit so memorable. The decor and atmosphere was just as described and photographed. The apartment was full of character without feeling cluttered. FYI the bed is so comfortable! The communication with Connie and Alissa was also very straightforward, as we were driving in, they let us arrive early and offered us to stay late. We could not have had a better experience and hope to come back soon!

    Katy2014-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time! The place was just as described and Connie left a lot of great recommendations on what to do in the area! I'd definitely come back if I'm in the Detroit area again!! Thank you!

    Katie2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Connie's - our only problem was that we weren't able to stay longer than one night! The location is amazing, everything was as described in the room, and it was really quite a good deal. Great experience.

    Emily2015-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location to explore the city. You are walking distance from Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Library as well as Wayne State University. Superb restaurant in the building (Chartreuse) as well as friendly staff at the desk. Parking was excellent. Easy to get in and exit and location makes the need to pull the car out purely optional. Connie was exceedlingly responsive. Her instructions are thorough and easy to follow. All in all, a great experience.

    Richard2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Connie, the owner, was extremely responsive to my questions and made us feel not only welcomed, but also appreciated for choosing her apartment. The apartment was charming and included all the amenities of a home--way beyond what would be expected in a hotel room. The Park Sheldon is conveniently located in Midtown and reminds visitors of a bygone era when service and decor were priorities.

    Joyce2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 4 days in Detroit and found Connie's place to be perfect for us. The location in Midtown is great and felt a lot like home. The proximity to the museums is excellent. Including a parking spot was a huge benefit. Downtown is just a few minutes away by car and we were able to explore the city quite easily without needing to concern ourselves with parking on the street when we returned. Connie provides plenty of information on greater Detroit as well as what the local neighborhood has to offer which was very helpful. All in all we are very happy with our experience and would not hesitate to stay here again!

    Mike2015-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Just what I signed up on Airbnb for. Can't beat the location, price and aesthetic. The cozy, unique space made me feel at home immediately. The bed was comfy and the old school record player was a pleasant surprise. The description warns folks with cat allergies that it might not be the place for them, but I think even with an allergy one should consider staying here if the cat is away. I have a very slight allergy, so I took a chance and was glad I did. The apartment has hardwood floors and was spotless. I didn't encounter a single kitty hair the whole stay.

    Emily2017-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • It's a beautiful residential place. It's a studio apartment having all the basic things needed.

    Mayank2017-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy’s place was my first AirBnb stay. I had previously stayed only in commercial hotels and motels when traveling. The studio Kathy hosted was clean, neat, and much more comfortable and quiet than any other place I’ve ever stayed at. It is an excellent location in a nice neighborhood. I would highly recommend her place to anyone staying in the Canton/Westland area.

    Douglas2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's place of quiet and beauty was just what we needed after two weeks with our little granddaughters. Everything was attractive and clean. The space is attached to her home but has private entrance and bathroom. The coffee and snacks were thoughtful touches. We enjoyed our visit.

Few minutes to Caesar's Casino and downtown You are a few minutes ' walk of the Detroit Riverside Park。 My listings close to nightlife, public transport, suitable for family activities. Because of location, landscape, and you will fall in love with my listings. My houses are ideal for couples, solo travelers adventure, business travellers, families with young children.
The house is composed of four old Winsor apartments, located in a very quiet old quarter. Between the four apartments is very independent. The house is a bit old but beautiful, and you live in a house that will make you feel back to the past of Winsor.
You live in this house, you will be very surprised. Close to the bar and a few minutes to the city center. Going out is shops, groceries and restaurants. Block bus, a minute is the station. The most important thing is to get through the Detroit Tunnel. 5 minutes' walk to the casino and Detroit riverside park.
  • A good place to stay, complete with fruit and two comfy beds in separate rooms. Apparently the neighbourhood is not the best but it's still very safe and I walked around at all hours. Walking distance to the river front. Good place to stay.

  • Shiyun's was a great resting place! He was very responsive to messages about our questions. We couldn't decipher the wifi password, or get the Netflix to work. Had we been staying longer and asked Shiyun about it, he definitely would have helped us figure it out. The place is very modern chic and just what my friends and I needed. The balcony is nice with its view of the Renaissance Center in Detroit. It was an easy walk to the river or to Wyandotte Av Overall, it was an awesome place and value. Thanks again, Shiyun!

  • Excellent place!

    Harvey2018-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Check in was super easy, which was very convenient. The outside of the building is very run down, and Windsor itself looks a bit run down as well. But, Windsor is very safe so keep that in mind. The space was great and I really enjoyed that snacks were left. Everything was very clean and towels and soap was provided. My only complaint is that the air conditioning was 2 window units, which while they put out very cold air, the apartment was just too hot for the air conditioners to properly cool down. There was also no top sheet on the bed, leaving the comforter as the only cover option, which it was just too hot for. Also some of the pillows were very uncomfortable...I always travel with my own pillow so this was not an issue, but I would have had trouble sleeping if I hadn't brought my own. Overall though, I would stay here again keeping those things in mind. The location is great and the price was good.

  • I loved it. The space is clean, and a good value. It has a small kitchen for cooking. You can park inside of a gated parking lot. Don't forget to put the parking pass back in the apartment when you are leaving. Close drive to the riverfront. I left two beers for the next guest. Hopefully, that is you.

  • Decent for the price. The pictures show it to be a bit nicer than in real life (pics don't show the severely sloped floors, cracked tiles, peeling paint, poorly done repairs etc). There are many things in this rental that could use a proper fixing but it was sufficient for the length of our stay. Beds/Pillows were comfy and TV was nice and big. Fast Wi-Fi. Location/Area is definitely sketchy. Thermostat is for all units and is set to 75 degrees - way too hot for us but might be ok for others. Upstairs renters were loud but didn't stay the whole time. Overall we were satisfied based on the price we paid vs. the cost of a hotel.

  • Overall the place was great. A decent sized stylish place for me and my friends for a weekend. Close to nightlife and not very far from food or the mall. We were surprised to find a slight slant in the place. Not too noticeable unless you’re walking in heels and although there is a tv there is no cable. For a night stay it wasn’t a big deal. Overall the owner was easy to get in touch with and allowed us to even check in early upon request. I will be definitely staying here the next time I come to Windsor.

My Studio is a few minute drive/Uber to downtown Royal Oak & Ferndale -Mark Ridley's Comedy Club, Go! Comedy Improv, Magic Bag, Rust Belt Market & 10 minutes to downtown Detroit- Casinos, LCA, Comerica Park...You’ll love my studio because of the coziness, amenities & unique decor -but most of all the proximity to the best eating, shopping, nightlife & entertainment. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, & pets. If unavailable look for Charming Studio #2 on Airbnb.
My place is walking distance to both downtown Royal and Ferndale, also minutes drive to downtown Detroit. You'll love my place because of the coziness, light, comfy bed/amenities but most of all the proximity to the best eating, shopping, nightlife & entertainment. Quaint decor and an overall "homey" feeling, with a touch of artistic flair, in a central location that offers great access to metro Detroit's most active neighborhoods.
I love getting brunch at Toast, then strolling through the Rust Belt Market, and grabbing a cup of coffee afterwards at Atomic in Royal Oak. Most weekends you can find me at one of the local festivals going on in Royal Oak or Ferndale and/or hanging out at either Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle or the Go! Comedy Improv to catch a show and laugh it up. Great proximity to casinos & clubs if partying downtown, a ton of amazing pubs & farm-to-table style restaurants and other such "foodie's" delights, as well as any sports fans attending home games at Comerica Park, Ford Field, & the new Little Caesars Arena!
  • Had some trouble finding key to get into place so that was frustrating and walked into linen piled up on bed and dirty towels on washer so that made us feel a little uneasy. Otherwise she had information laid out for all the internet/wifi info, tv functions and things to do before leaving the place. Also had some maps and pamphlets about things to do around Detroit for tourists which was nice. Missed the turn to get to place at first because driveway was covered with leaves so didn't notice that that was our entry but after we figured it out it was very easy to come and go from. It is right off a main road so could hear the traffic outside a bit. Very cute, quaint little place. Perfect for a couple staying for a couple of nights.

    Mike2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We were happy to find everything as described. My husband and I were comfortable in the space and found it charming. The house is right off of a major road and, other than being off a one-way lane, made it easy to get to everything we wanted to do. This is a good choice for anyone visiting the downtown area.

    Melody2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cute house and not too crammed for a weekend trip! The freeway is basically in the front yard but it makes it very easy to jump on the highway and go into the city. The neighborhood isn't bad, but it's not in the nicest area. House was decorated nicely, updated, checking is easy and painless. Great for a very affordable weekend getaway.

  • Megan's place was perfect for our trip to Detroit! Megan gave very detailed instructions for parking (located onsite) and check-in. The studio is cute and well-decorated and felt like I was visiting a friend's house for the weekend. It had everything we needed. The place is located directly on a main street but the noise never bothered me. In fact, it's location was extremely convenient for us as we traveled throughout Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Detroit. It's only a quick turn to get on a freeway that takes you anywhere you want to go. Thanks for a great stay!

    Debbie2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Megan's place was cozy, spacious, and just the right size for a business trip. Great design touches and updated interior. Access to local attractions nightlife and major roads was excellent. • Very nice apartment to stay at. Better know the area first too.

    Zee2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome apartment. Super easy check in/out, great host communication, little extras provided showing how much the owner cares about the whole experience. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again!

  • Morgan's "surf shack" was charming and cozy. She was very communicative and helpful, and everything appeared as listed. I recommend this place and Morgan. Thanks!

    Stephanie2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a good time. The building was easy to find and had parking space in the back. The unit had: AC, Wi-Fi, stove, fridge, microwave and TV with services like Netflix, etc. It was clean and had the basics: clean towels, soap, shampoo, plates and cutlery. Morgan was always very responsive during our stay.

    Sarah2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan's place was wonderful. Clean, cute, awesome for value. She was super communicative too- I left something important in the apartment by accident and was nice enough to ship it to me right away. One of the best air b & b experiences I've had.

    Johanna2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan's surf shack is a fine place to stay and I would highly recommend it. Clean, quiet and safe plus right above ( though you would not know it ) a dynamite breakfast place.

  • Danielle's place was perfect for our trip to Detroit. Great location, beautiful loft space and Danielle was a superb host. Definitely recommend staying here while visiting Detroit.

    Kyle2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle was an incredible host who really cares about her guests. The loft is awesome and very comfortable.

    Perry2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This has been my absolute favorite Airbnb space! Danielle’s loft is one of a kind and was the perfect location to relax in while enjoying parts of Detroit. She provided super detailed check in instructions into the building (which had plenty of character) which made everything so easy to start the trip off! Her style is so trendy and chic and everything was picturesque. Very clean and I could tell lots of thought and detail were put into the process of sharing her loft. Perfect place to stay! ❤️

    Emily2018-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's place was a styled dream! I booked the place for a 4 day work trip and enjoyed my time there very much. The AC machine inside worked great to offset the summer heat and the kitchen had all the basics. Especially loved the bathroom decor. Her check-in instructions were super clear to follow (the building has many doors and hallways) and the loft itself had a vintage yet modern charm. It was quiet at night which was great, with only a few occasional upstairs neighbor noises. Tons of natural light in the morning so great way to wake up with the sun! Lastly, Danielle sent a ton of handy recommendations for things to do. Within an 10-minute walk, I tried: Mudgie's for killer sandwiches, FOLK for a tasty organic breakfast, and John K. King's for used and rare book shopping (that place is magical). The Westin Book (my conference location) was a 15 minute walk away. Would definitely recommend!

    Andrea2018-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The loft space is great and actually bigger than it appears in the pictures. Danielle's esthetic is very nice with stylish and tasteful decorations. My friends and I had an amazing time in Detroit and good part we owe to the wonderful recommendations from Danielle. She had suggestions from restaurants and cocktails to museums to shopping.

    Sunitha2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place near lots of restaurants, bars, and attractions. Wonderful and helpful hosts. Will be my goto when visiting Detroit.

    Scott2018-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle is an incredible host. I'd definitely recommend this spot. Extremely responsive, lots of (solid) local recommendations. The loft is huge, and so beautiful. Lots of thoughtful touches. The unit is very clean and exactly as described. This is true of the entire posting. As pointed out--the building is a bit older and the hallways are meh Yes, you can hear the neighbors, but I had no problem as they were quiet and polite. Ample free parking, great neighborhood spots and I ran on the lake path every day. Book it!

The Duck 'N' Roll inn is a three bedroom home situated on a urban duck farm. A combination of contemporary features and old-time cottage charm will keep you comfortable and cozy while you enjoy Detroit's east side. It is close to Grosse Pointe, and most Detroit destinations are quickly reached by freeway.
The Duck 'N' Roll Inn has been a home to journalists, documentary filmmakers, artists, performers, urban planners and explorers, and this year, a temporary home for families reuniting. It's been a joy to teach the kids about the ducks! The "Duck 'N' Roll Inn" is an eclectic farmhouse on an urban duck farm, officially known as Laid In Detroit. The farm provides pasture raised duck eggs to Rock City Eatery, as well as local residents. Located in the easy-going east side, Laid In Detroit was voted "Best Inner City Duck Farm" by the staff of the Metro Times. Though it's not so much an "inner city" vibe as it is a laid back oasis amongst urban sprawl. It encompasses 4 city lots full of trees and garden, The house has 3 bedrooms--a nautical room, and kid friendly room, and a spacious bedroom known as "the disco room," which features a large skylight, a woodburning stove, enormous chalk boards, and a sound system with a disco ball so that it doubles as a dance floor! There is one full bath with an extra wide jacuzzi tub, as well as a half bath on the first floor. The property also features a steel bbq in the form of a dinosaur, an adobe pizza oven on site, as well as panoramic views of the gardens and the ducks frolicking in the pasture. We have a new addition to the farm! Meg, the livestock guardian dog is keeping us safe from predators and prowlers. Great Pyrenees guardian dogs are known for their friendly, gentle demeanor, as well as their superior livestock guarding abilities. When you meet her, give her a biscuit and a pat. She loves guests! (By the way, the dog is off limits to the house unless invited! No worries if you are allergic or not an animal lover.) The house is full of character with a large kitchen and dining area. The property also has many ecological features, such as a green roof over the duck coop. Your stay here will not only be relaxing and fun, but educational as well. Typical guests who have really enjoyed the Duck 'N' Roll Inn are artists, urban gardening fans, photographers, journalists, film makers, animal lovers, students, musicians, world travelers and anyone with an adventurous mindset. You can also rest easy knowing that the money from your reservation is going directly to a small farm business in a developing neighborhood in Detroit. Laid In Detroit has hosts many events, including an annual Easter party for the kids.
Cornerstone Village, once a stable working class neighborhood founded by Belgian immigrants (some refer to it as "the Belgian triangle") has also been affected by the recent mass exodus from Detroit. But a strong coalition of homeowners with deep roots in the community have held things together. You will encounter some blight and vacant homes in the neighborhood. There are characters, and oftentimes people are out and about, playing music and socializing, but it is a friendly neighborhood. All guests have had a safe experience here. There are many great restaurants nearby, as well as bars, pubs, and grocery stores. The Cadieux Cafe and Ye Olde Tap Room have been around for a century. Trader Joe's and Kroger grocery are within walking distance.
  • Suzanne and the Duck n Roll are awesome! I loved this place and really didn't want to leave. It was huge! And probably overkill for staying by myself. But wonderful nonetheless. I definitely want to come back here with a few friends and enjoy a relaxing stay with the ducks and the cat. I had some great conversation with Suzanne and learned so much about the ducks. The house was well cooled, the bed was comfortable, the shower had plenty of pressure, and the kitchen was well stocked with gear. It had everything I needed!

    Chris2013-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I were looking for a fun, inexpensive getaway for a few days - and that was exactly what we got. The house was clean, quirky, and fun to be in, full of unique, memorable touches. We especially loved the wood-burning stove in the bedroom (so cozy!), the whirlpool bathtub (fantastic if you're staying in the winter), and the metal dragon sculpture in the ducks' yard. The space has plenty of antique charm with modern updates as needed. Watching the ducks waddle and play outside never failed to make us laugh and smile! The neighborhood probably won't win any beauty contests but we never felt unsafe - Suzanne's place is very secure. Suzanne herself is a quick responder to any and all communications, which makes the place feel even safer. We will DEFINITELY be back.

    Maggie2015-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent home, very cozy.

    Matt2016-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Duck 'N' Roll Inn was amazing! We were in Detroit for an extra night before Movement and we chose to stay with Suzanne. Suzanne herself was awesome; friendly, informative, inviting, laid-back! We had a few conversations with her throughout our short but sweet stay. It was great to chat with her! The ducks were so cute! There was a good group of baby ducks waddling around and lots of adults protecting them. It was also mating season, which was interesting to witness. We would have liked some duck eggs but Suzanne was running low. There is always next time :) The house was great. It was nice to have our own space separate from the host (we were a bit noisy). Lots of beds to accommodate our group. My boyfriend and I stayed in one room, one of our friends in another private single room and the four others all stayed in the disco room! We slept peacefully and left around noon. Suzanne was so fantastic! I needed a document printed and she was happy to print it for me! She really is a lifesaver. All in all, I will be staying at the Duck 'N' Roll Inn again, VERY SOON :)

    Maddy2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable home and easy check-in and check-out. The ducks and Meg the dog are fantastic. Thanks for a great stay, Suzanne!

    Hazel2015-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a delightful surprise tucked into a neighborhood that has a mix of rundown and burned out homes. Don't let the area frighten you, though. The neighbors were either downright friendly (my kids palled around with one of the young ones) or just ignored us. I never felt unsafe. The ducks are adorable and a big hit with the kids. The space inside is quirky and comfortable. If you plan on cooking and have a larger group (we were 7), you may want to bring a large skillet with you.

    Jennifer2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at the duck farm and it did not disappoint! This is the real Detroit experience. Local food, entrepreneurs, vintage home retrofitted and eco-friendly atmosphere. I love how the host stocks up sustainable cosmetics and soaps for guests. There are a few staples like salt and pepper, etc which makes it easy to cook and feel at home.

    Ali2017-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fucking brilliant! We stayed at the Duck n' Roll during a film shoot in Detroit, and OF COURSE it ended up being part of the film. Suzanne is an absolute princess, we LOVE her! The back yard is wonderful, have a barbecue, invite the locals, have the time of your life. I know we did!!

Enjoy and explore the quaint but up-and-coming neighborhood of West Village Detroit. This cozy apartment is just steps away from new shops and restaurants like Sister Pie, Craft Work and Red Hook Coffee. With it’s historic elements in tact, wood floors, and antique charm the space has a subtle and sophisticated feel and was furnished with this in mind. The original murphy bed folds down in the living room and a custom made kitchen bar top folds up for extra guest accommodations.
The West Village neighborhood is a lovely up and coming area of Detroit. While it's still easiest to get around Detroit by car there are some great restaurants and shops within walking distance. If you'd like any recommendations just send me a message. We are also right next to Indian Village, a neighborhood with beautiful houses built in the early 1900s. Overall, the neighborhood is very walkable and friendly.
  • My husband and I absolutely loved Morgan's apartment! The decor was just my style, with carefully curated unique vintage art and beautiful yet functional furniture. The bed was super cozy and we both slept like a log. The apartment felt spacious and comfortable. We loved the neighborhood and enjoyed excellent coffee at The Red Hook and a phenomenal meal at Craft Work. Morgan was very responsive when it came to communicating about check-in and answering questions during our stay. I highly recommend Morgan's place!

  • Great great apartment. Super cozy and quiet and Detroit is a lot of fun! Morgan was very helpful and we’d be happy to come back again

    Daniel2018-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan was simply amazing! She was so accommodating and very helpful. Our flights arrived in the morning and Morgan was willing to let us check in early so that we didn't have to carry our luggage around as we explored the city. And then again since our flight out of town was later in the evening she was willing to let us leave our luggage in the home until we were ready to head to the airport. Little things like that made this trip so great for us! The apartment was clean, cozy and so stylish. I believe they are working on a guide book for the area which is really exciting since there's little pockets of up and coming places to see. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this home and the location. Sister Pie is right down the street, walking distance, as well as the amazing cafe, Le Bohem. We can't wait to visit again!

    Janelle2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • My parents thought the place was cozy and clean. They enjoyed their stay. Thanks, Morgan!

    Harmony2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time at her place. A couple of blocks from here are a coffee shop, a good reataurant, and a vegan place. Also, everything seemed to be a 10min drive away.

    Joseph2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed the location of this place -- the West Village has a coffee shop, bakery and restaurants in walking distance (which is kind of hard to come by in Detroit). The apartment itself was cozy and was great for my solo trip to Detroit. Morgan was very responsive and super helpful. Definitely recommend.

    Katie2018-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable place, comfortable beds, great location. Be sure to walk across the street and check out Brix! Great wine and charcuterie...! Craft Work had amazing dinner. All within a five minute walk. We were so happy we chose this spot.

Sunny, cozy and serene. Right off of Jefferson Ave and Detroit’s Riverwalk. The perfect retreat with a gorgeous view of the Detroit River and only a 5-minute drive to downtown! Just a few blocks from Belle Isle Park with a beautiful view of the river. Ample and safe parking for all guests. The newly renovated Mt. Elliot Park directly across the street provides for a safe and family friendly environment for a stroll.
The building stays true to Detroit's cultural history as it is rustic and once used by manufacturers. Turned into an artist's loft space, the living space features exposed red brick throughout. Interior decor is boho-chic meets Moroccan themes. Souvenirs from my travels to Asia, Africa, and the middle east also fill the space. Coffee and cereal included.
The neighborhood is very safe. The apartment building is directly on the Detroit River Front, which it should be noted that the River Front has completely been renovated and truly family friendly. A Walgreens is directly across the street as well as a gas station on the corner. Getting around is fairly easy. Most restaurants and cafes are within a 5-10 minute driving distance.
  • Semira's place is a great spot to have as a base for adventures. My husband and I spent a long weekend there and loved the location. The riverfront is right there and you can walk or easily rent a bike to get around. The bikes allowed us to explore the thriving city and that was definitely a highlight. We are already excited to head back to Detroit again! As another reviewer noted, the building is old and the wear and tear is quite evident. We were in and out of Semira's home, only there to sleep, and the space worked ok for that.

    Tracey2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks, Semira!

  • Had long days at a convention while in town so it was nice to escape to a quiet, friendly place. Nice comfortable and cozy loft. Nice view of the water, Canada. :) Easy access to local restaurants and downtown.

    Ken2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cool view and warm loft

    Lee2018-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Semira's loft was so cute and cozy -- if I wasn't in town for work, I would have stayed in all day. The four flights of stairs weren't so bad. The street parking was pretty easy, too. I got in super late and Semira made sure I got the keys and made it inside the loft before going to bed herself. The next day, I found a cute coffee place nearby called Ashe -- perfect! Overall, I have always wanted to try out loft-living and feel like I got a really nice taste of it at Semira's warm, comfy place. Thank you for opening up your home and sharing your travels, too, Semira!

    Reema2017-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Semira's loft was wonderful. It had an outstanding view of newly-renovated Mt. Elliott Park, the Detroit River, and you can also see Ontario, Canada from the room as well, which we thought was pretty neat. The space was SO cozy and had a great heating system. Very comfortable furniture, plentiful natural lighting, and the neighborhood felt very safe. It was a tad bit difficult finding the loft once inside the building for the first time, but once you make that first trip to the room, you'll have the path from the lobby to the room down pat. If you are visiting the Detroit area, I highly recommend Semira's place! She is lovely to work with.

A tri-level riverview industrial beauty that Detroit has to offer along with modern decor from my travels. 5 minutes from Belle Isle & Downtown, on the Riverwalk and next to an upgraded park. Fully equipped, for up to four people. Close to Belle Isle, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Chene Park, Joe Louis Arena, Fox Theatre, the Masonic Temple, Cobo Hall, Detroit Institute of Arts, the Fillmore, Hart Plaza and Little Caesar's Arena.
1 Queen sized mattress. 3 Queen sized air mattresses. 1 Full size convertible sofa bed. The loft is a wide open space located near the heart of Downtown. Large windows allow for natural light to illuminate the loft during the day. Artwork and photos decorate the walls along with objects I've collected along my travels. The perfect place to come back to relax to after a crazy day in Detroit! New furniture, full closet and storage for clothing/luggage, work station, Apple TV, 2 TV's, plant life and a short guide for the best things to do while in Detroit.
The neighborhood is great. Right on the Detroit River with easy access to the heart of downtown, Belle Isle or the Dequindre Cut by way of walking, biking or by car. Adjacent to the building is a newly upgraded park to mark the start (or end) of the Riverwalk which has nice rolling greens to spend a Summer day on. There is a grocery store within walking distance.
  • One of the best places I’ve stayed in to date. Had everything I needed and is close to amenities for food and knock knacks. Host was incredibly communicative and made the stay worry free. Highly recommend if you’re in the Detroit area.

  • Cool spot in a quiet area close to downtown. Easy, close street parking any time of the day.

    Kyle2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • This loft was absolutely perfect. I was looking for a unique, homey space; not just your “run of the mill”/sterile apartment and that’s exactly what I found in this location. Extremely aesthetically pleasing with industrial features that echoed of Detroit and authentic, natural features (such as the original wood floors and exposed beams) that made the place feel rich & warm. It’s centrally located & absolutely ideal for enjoying the city. Will definitely be back!

  • Rent the other place. (Website hidden by Airbnb) There was no doorman per listing.  It was a gross building and no proper buzzer let alone a doorman.  Total filth and reek in outer entryway. My extra "beds" were left outside when I was out to fill with air myself and make at 1am after arriving home.  This is despite repeated promise to deliver and set up. No linen for fold down bed or blanket was provided nor were any blankets for the 2 airbeds. We were inconvenienced and uncomfortable (cold) having to sleep dressed. Next day I asked for blankets and despite my repeated ask and his agreement none were delivered. Again this was totally unacceptable. We are four men all in our forties in town for an NFL game and obviously an easy target for him. Place was dirty. I asked for draino to be used in the tub as it was backing up suring quick shower. Again he said yes and never came through. Listing advertised 1.5 baths... not true and on check-in no mention of this not being the case. After looking texted and asked, only then did he say the .5 was closed for "maintenance" offering no apologies or anything. There was a broken window on main floor and resulted in a draft and smoke / noise from the hanger-outers on the street. Location was dreadful in a very dilapidated area of town. I could pick out more idiocy as it was everywhere but frankly my time is important. Used Airbnb several times and never anything like this. I'm sure he'll say I'm a liar but really why would I? Worst experience I've ever had.

Hello! Our home is an 1890 Victorian mansion that we purchased in 2012 and lovingly renovated over three years using a team of local craftspeople and myself. This space is a quirky 1 bedroom, 1 bath garden level loft with much of its original character preserved. Located in the heart of Midtown just one block from 15+ bars and restaurants, DMC, Shinola and way more. The space is designed with leisure stays in mind but also capable of accommodating business travelers comfortably. Parking included
The space features a custom cherry old-growth wood bar along with handbuilt cherry countertops. The bathroom has its own interesting character equipped with the biggest shower I've ever installed as a builder. The apartment is stocked with coffee, has an Apple TV and high-speed WiFi and dart board. The space is equipped with a modern heating system and natural cooling from the original stone walls. It’s very comfortable year round.
Midtown is an exploding, vibrant neighborhood in the center of Detroit. There are so many fantastic bars, shopping opportunities, museums and restaurants within walking distance. The Wayne State Police is highly active and patrols Midtown 24/7 with a fast response rate making Midtown the safest neighborhood in Detroit and one of the safest university campuses in the nation.
  • A nice cozy space and definitely worth it at this affordable price

    Colin2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • It's a beautifully designed space with lots of thought in making it feel like home with in-house laundry and very flexible check-in/out. Kelsey had Veronica be my host; who was very helpful on questions about eating out, to bars, to attraction around. I loved the Traffic Jam; just walkable. I loved biking around and to Detroit downtown in just 20min, it's just very safe. I would love to return.

  • I enjoyed my brief stay in this super hip basement apartment near Wayne State which is fabulously decorated with vintage furniture and reclaimed materials. It is well equipped and generally quiet, though a bit more cave-like than I gathered from the pictures (though the pictures were very accurate).

    Shannon2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool apartment! They have done a fantastic job with the aesthetic and design. Very interesting exposed brick and stone walls with wooden beams and a beautifully updated kitchen. Though this is a basement apartment it is very bright and much more spacious than the pictures show. The neighbourhood is great. Walking distance to several bars, restaurants and coffee shops. I would happily stay there again

    Ben2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really unique space! Bed was very comfortable and I had everything that I needed. I'm looking forward to staying here again the next time I'm in town.

  • I️ loved Kelsey’s place! Everything was as described and I️ didn’t know that I️ would want to have a sink so bad. It was so cool! Easy communication and process. Highly recommend!

  • This renovated, rustic apartment was a really fun experience! My wife and I both love Detroit, so it was fun to stay in this location! The work Kelsey has done is really great! I think my favorite part was the shower; it was enormous and really unique! I don't think I saw this in the pictures, but Kelsey also provides a small TV with an Apple TV (although, we think the battery was dead on the Apple TV remote...). Also, the parking was a little tight and the apartment has (at least when we first walked in) a noticeable "basement" smell; otherwise, this was an excellent experience and would absolutely recommend this as a place to stay! Thanks, Kelsey!

    Daniel2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very easy communication before arrival. Kelsey was very forthcoming on the history of her development of the building and the state of real estate in Detroit.

This cottage like home is close to The Detroit River, Canals, Residential Islands, and Grosse Pointe. You’ll love this cozy home, filled with lots of natural light, and right next to a major bus line for easy access to downtown. The space is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
Hello! Welcome to Jefferson Chalmers! I have done much traveling, and I know the importance of having a friendly, clean, and safe refuge when traveling in unknown territory. Jefferson Chalmers is the neighborhood that I grew up in, and I have been working on homes here to preserve the community. This home is one of them. It is a very cozy cottage like space, a perfect place to use as a home base for touring the City. There are three full time residents here, an artist, a clothing designer, and a dancer. The home is always full of interesting and friendly people. There is one full bath and and a full open kitchen which is available for cooking and storing food. This house was built in the 20s but was abandoned for many years and suffered a lot of damage. I just finished its rehab and am happy to see it alive again. Instead of a full tear out I tried to preserve the existing detail that is created when a house is abandoned. Income from the home will go into further renovations over time and will slowly erase the scars of abandonment. Given the increasing interest in Jefferson Chalmers, and given my need to fund my preservation projects in the community, I decided to make this space available to travelers looking for a quality, laid back living space for a reasonable price. This provides a place for you, brings awareness to the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood, and funds improvements on the Marlborough block!
The housing consists of bungalows and Arts and Crafts houses built in the early 20th Century that have maintained their character and beauty. Most blocks have many owner occupied houses and mowed lawns. The neighborhood is on the Detroit River and is bordered by beautiful river side parks, canals, and residential islands accessible by bridge. The Jefferson-Chalmers Business District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 and is one of a few early twentieth-century neighborhood commercial districts that still survive in Detroit. During the 1920s, this district along Jefferson was the center of the east-side neighborhood's commercial, social, and cultural life. The district is unique in that two big-band era ballrooms, the cultural fulcrums of the early 20th century social scene, still exist within the district: the Monticello and the Vanity Ballroom.
  • Great little room! Very friendly hosts.

    Lara2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a cheap place to say after going to a stand up show at Motor City Casino. The room was clean but the bed was extremely uncomfortable (box spring and mattress on the floor). The bathroom was also not very clean.

  • The host was very welcoming and nice. Overall, price/quality wise I would definitely recommend this house!

  • Great stay, would do again.

  • Jon and Aragon had good communication. The outside of the place does seem sketchy at first, but the inside wasn't sketchy. Bathroom is downstairs and shared, and the stairs are pretty creaky. It was a nice one night stay. Thank you Jon for the welcome during check in and with all the changes we made for the trip, they were really sweet and understanding.

    Ronni2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great first experience,I'd definitely come back to Aragorn's. Great commutation and commendation, the flexibility at the place it's great as well. The only con I have was that it was kinda cold in the house.

A few minutes to Windsor University. For a few minutes on the bridge, Drive to the Border Service station for a few minutes. A few minutes walk to Riverside Park. Just a few minutes to where you want to go. There are 1 rooms. Each room accommodates up to 2 people.
A beautiful room you can call home for a while. All brand new furniture, flat screen TV, full kitchen, dinning table with culery, and clean bathroom with shower.
Its super close to the university and boader brigde. And only few minutes away from the riverside.
  • Stayed at Shiyun's place with some friends for a wedding in Windsor. Rooms were well kept and looked exactly as pictured. Would highly recommend.

    Miarka2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Love staying at this place when I'm in windsor. It's always quiet and clean, the rooms smell amazing, wifi runs great. Usually good parking. Close to the university and other points of interest. Have stayed there a couple days a week for almost 6 months now, never stay anywhere else.

    Janice2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was clean and ready for us. Wonderful for the price. Only one bathroom shared among four rooms so get up early in preparation. No coat hangers. Neighbourhood was pretty intimidating at night but okay during the day. WiFi, air conditioning, cleanliness, water pressure, space, and privacy were all perfect. I would definitely stay there again.

    Natalie2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • It was simply ideal for me.

    Valdemar2016-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place is surprisingly comfortable and cozy given the price! A very welcome surprise after a long day of travel! Shiyun was also very good with follow up communication.

    Mike2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The room was clean, easy parking, clear check-in, and easy access to laundry machines in the basement. This was a budget stay that went really well and we had an easy time communicating with the host. Thank you!

Adventurers welcome! Stay here & help fund our renovation work as we bring this abandoned 20's mansion back to life! House is RUSTIC & a WORK IN PROGRESS. Private room is restored with original features. Lockable Room Door, King bed with Foam Mattress, Air conditioner, Mini Fridge, Microwave, Coffee Maker. Shared bathroom, kitchen & common area. We host other travelers too so expect community vibe! 5-15 mins bike to most top attractions. Perfect for biking explorers.
This spacious private room is restored to its original state and comfortably furnished. It has a nice king memory foam bed (Size: 76 in x 80 in). The room also comes with convenient amenities like coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. The room door is lockable. We currently have 3 bathrooms shared in the house. Since other travelers and our international volunteers helping us will be staying under the same roof and sharing the same bathroom / kitchen / lounge, the space will have a strong community vibe. Expect to meet cool people from all around. We’ve made lots of friends while traveling and staying in this type of shared environment and we love it. :) With that being said, if you require more privacy, this is probably not the best place for you but most guests see it as a great way to meet people and embrace the community vibe as part of the adventure.
Our house is just up from Belle Isle on the same street! We're close to Eastern Market to our north west and West Village / Indian Village to our south east. Straight shot over to Downtown / Midtown and most top attractions are within 3 miles. A lot of homes in this area are being revitalized right now but there are still a lot of work to be done and you'll probably see some blighted houses nearby. If you want some more info about neighborhoods or places to check out please let us know! We have an extensive travel guide we put together for our guests.
  • This room was very comfortable and a good location close to downtown Detroit. My girlfriend and I stayed here on our way to Leelanau and the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and we had no issues. The other guests at the soon-to-be hostel were very friendly and showed us around the space. I'm sure once it is completely renovated, it will be a very beautiful space, but even in its current state it is a very nice room to stay in. This room which is offered is completely finished and very nice.

    Andrew2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The location was easy to find, and getting settled inside was just the same. We stayed one night and it was quiet and easy. Although we didn't meet the host face to face, the volunteers were very kind and helpful. It was a stay that my partner and I enjoyed and will definitely recommend!

    Austin2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at Base Camp, the space was a great location for the things I wanted to do in Detroit. Also, Jennifer was great at responding to messages and all the volunteers were friendly and helpful. The shared bathrooms were always clean and the community kitchen was well-maintained. I would stay here again.

    Cassia2018-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • So many improvements every time I visit. The front common area looks amazing!

  • Amazing, clean room with more than enough space! Very European hostel vibe but with extra security and privacy. Hosts responded super quick and went above and beyond to secure my arrival! Spacious First Floor Apartment. Safe, well lit, street parking. Walking distance to local restaurants, bars, markets, gas stations and theatre. Very diverse in population. A City within the City of Detroit.
Guests have their own private apartment with separate entrance. This is on the 1st floor (6 small steps) in a shared unit multi-unit house. 2 Bedrooms. 1 queen size and other has a full size mattress. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. Good water pressure. Parking is on the street, but there is almost always a spot directly in front of the house, and never more than one block away. Private entrance to your apartment. Free and Fast WiFi. BlueRay Player. Smart TV. Back yard with a fire pit. Access to back balcony with porch swing. I love greeting guests when they arrive and making sure they have everything they need. Beyond that, I will give you your space and will not knock on your door unnecessarily. I am always available by phone for urgent matters. Come see what all the talk is about!! A great city with a lot to offer. Hamtramck is the donut hole of Detroit. It's a city within the City of Detroit. 2 mile square radius with around 23 different languages spoken. No matter who you are, you will not stick out here. Everyone is welcome! They call it a piece of Europe in America! People ask me all the time if it's safe here??? My response is: Yes, is as safe, but like any big city, always have an extra eye out. Be mindful of your surroundings and don't leave things like bags, GPS, phones etc visible in your car. Hamtramck has it's own police force & fire department and they are very present. As far as Detroit goes, it gets more of a bad rap then what is actually going on. Our city has cleaned up very much in the last 5 years. I have been living here in and out my whole life and (knock on wood) never have had any issues. Anything goes here. It almost fells like you are (email hidden). Many artist live here and the community is very open. I'm sure you will leave pleased if you decide to give it a try and not be afraid of something a little different. Hamtramck is a walking friendly city. Ubar Car just arrived! Taxicab & Bus stop just 2 blocks away. Please let me know if you need a ride to or from the airport. $30 each way depending on availability.

  • Clean and comfortable place to stay with everything you need and so much more! Fun area and a perfect spot to stay if you're visiting Detroit.

    Paul2014-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The space was incredible! It looks exactly as advertised, down to the quaint charm and warm, inviting coziness. The little touches like coffee, cream and sugar and Netflix on the TV were really appreciated and made it feel that much more like home. It was really the perfect place for my fiance and I to stay and have our own little space during the crazy rushing around of a family visit in a short time. The location is really perfect for where we needed to be, it couldn't have been easier to be so close to I-75. And there was SO MUCH good food nearby I'm surprised we didn't have to be rolled out! Teena was incredibly responsive to any correspondence, super fast! This space is by far on the top of my list to come back to and stay next time we visit. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better first experience with Airbnb. I'm totally hooked!

    Melissa2015-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing host! The place was amazing, and Teena+Kaitlyn really allowed us to do our own thing, but were in contact with us if we need anything (we didn't!). The place was awesome, as described in the pictures. Really clean, lots of space, and great light comes in from the windows. Loved staying in Hamtramck, and would stay here again!

    Carly2015-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Teena made access extremely easy and flexible. Very large space. Neighborhood seemed safe enough, without knowing much at all about Detroit. Having full access to the whole apartment was great.

    Jean-Luc2014-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I really enjoyed staying at Teena's apartment. It's very spacious and had plenty of furnishings that made it comfortable and pleasant to stay in. The backyard is good for lounging. Teena was also a very helpful host who always responded promptly to our questions. When our rental car plans didn't work out, she suggested we use Uber- and that was great (a tip for other visitors!) Thanks for your generous hospitality, Teena!

    Erika2014-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little space, easy to get around. Great food in the area, felt safe enough to walk around at any hour.

    Justin2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real cozy spot! Hamtramck is still one of those slept on secrets of Detroit. Awesome!!

This home, located right next door to my residence, is the third Detroit home I've taken on as a renovation. It still has a few more details to hammer out, but due to the huge demand for accommodations, I decided to list it early at a discount rate. It is adjacent and connected to my urban duck farm!
I'm not going to lie, since the housing crash, many people left this neighborhood, so there is blight, empty houses, and empty lots where houses used to be. But the good news is, it is considered one of the more stable neighborhoods in the city. In the entire three years I have been renting on airbnb, over 100 rentals per year, we have not experienced a single crime incident. We are also located blocks from Grosse Pointe, one of the safest suburbs in the area, where there is shopping, groceries, coffee shops, restaurants, and most other amenities.
  • I was in town for work. This place was quiet, and relaxing. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The Internet wasn't working - but I always come prepared for that, so it wasn't a big deal. I highly recommend this place.

    Nathan2016-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean and the neighborhood was quiet. Suzanne, herself, was welcoming.

    Francesca2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne was a gracious host. The space was roomy for my group of four. The neighborhood was quiet despite its appearance. I would rent it again.

    Sherwin2016-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne was very accommodating to our schedule. It was a great "temporary" home away from home. Parking was convenient.

    Shaster2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house was comfortable and provided everything we needed. It was centrally located to get to all the events for my son's wedding. We enjoyed the art deco kitchen.

    Hermine2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne was the perfect host! She was able to host our last minute adventure with a days notice. She responded very quickly to all my questions and with no problem let us stay another night. It was fast to get to downtown by car and there were plenty of awesome places to bike to very near the house. Suzanne supplied us with bikes & even joined us in showing us around the surrounding areas. Our stay was perfect and even more than we expected! We loved it.

    Arielle2015-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place to call home for a week. Lots of space, a decent kitchen (that came with some surprise food), an amazing sofa, and a good neighborhood. We somehow missed meeting Suzanne every single day, but her communication was great (even when we accidentally parked on the grass that was her lawn and not her driveway, she was very patient (note to future guests: park in the driveway to the right)). The one teeny inconvenience we noted is that the two smaller bedrooms do not come with doors (but all of the beds are amazingly comfy). She calls it a fixer-upper, but this 1st floor of a house is charmingly simple yet has everything you need, and the fact it isn't fancy keeps the price in the range of perfect. Thank you for hosting us Airbnb newbies - we will definitely aim to be back next year.

    Janine2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lot bigger than I expected. The neighborhood was quiet - except for that tempting ice cream truck! Good water pressure in the shower. Really great value for the price!

This loft is a mix of the industrial beauty that Detroit has to offer along with modern decor from my travels.
The loft is a wide open space located near the heart of Downtown. Large windows allow for natural light to illuminate the loft during the day and my smart-lights allow for an array of colors at night, which can be controlled directly from your smartphone. Artwork and photos decorate the walls along with objects I've collected along my travels. The perfect place to come back to relax to after a crazy day in Detroit! New furniture, full closet and storage for clothing/luggage, work station, Xbox One with 2 controllers, Apple TV, DVD / Blue-ray player with 25+ DVDs & Netflix, surround sound system, decanter & wine set, plant life and a short guide for the best things to do while in Detroit. Very comfortable queen size bed to wake up to a view of Downtown in the morning; I definitely missed it while I was traveling through other Airbnb's!

Brush Park and the surrounding areas (Downtown, Midtown, Sports District, Eastern Market & Corktown) are all very safe. Brush Park in particular has 24/7 security patrolling the neighborhood due to all of the ongoing redevelopment. We feel comfortable walking, biking or taking the QLINE to all the great spots in the area day or night.
  • Christa and David have created a beautiful space for your stay in Detroit. The apartment is very comfortable and they have added so many special touches. You can tell that they are proud of their city and want to share it with you. They have stocked the apartment with locally made bath products, artwork and reading material as well as Faygo soda and Better Made Snacks. One of our favorite features was the deck. It’s spacious with a beautiful view of the City. Christa and David are very knowledgeable about the area and were very helpful in introducing us to a wonderful local eatery and a fabulous bakery. We attended a Red Wing Game during our stay and it was only a five minute walk. Fabulous location to all sporting events in Detroit. Can’t wait to return!

  • I loved the style of the spot. Very thoughtful touches. I appreciate french themed deco and its done very well here. I loved the availability of the firepit and the roof was definitely my favorite feature, such a great view of downtown and the activities around. There were even great games available if you needed to pass the time. David was very prompt with messaging and easy to talk to. You can trust this listing

  • This was truly an exceptional space. In addition to the cleanliness and sweet little touches of Detroit throughout the loft, the view of downtown was just stunning. Really looking forward to staying again in the near future.

  • Christa and David have a great unique space in Midtown not far from downtown. The unit is very secure with gated parking available. The loft is lovely, clean, and has all the necessary amenities needed. It has great decor and a beautiful patio. Would definitely recommend for your stay in Detroit!

    Lima2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Christa and David were awesome hosts. We were able to book a loft with them and get in there within a couple of hours of finding the spot. We needed an emergency place to stay and it was such a nice place at that. A very cool and interesting up-and-coming neighborhood in Detroit. I highly recommend this location. Check in with a cinch and their detailed instructions were very accurate and helpful.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME: Instant book ensures no discrimination #DisforDiversity. Secure, clean, comfortable private room in a warm home on a tree-lined street in one of Detroit's best neighborhoods for diversity and architecture - Hubbard Farms. Adjacent to Corktown, Mexicantown/Mexican Village and the riverfront; close to downtown and COBO.
This 3 bd/1.5 ba non-smoking home offers 1 private, furnished guest bedroom with private 1/2 bath (full bath is shared). Comfortable living area, full kitchen, dining area and pleasant porch to spend the evenings on. This home has maintained much of its historic aesthetic, with modern appliances and convenience. There is 1 small, high energy boxer/pug mix dog in the home. (PLEASE NOTE: Totem, my beloved family member, was abducted on 5/7/18. It is a sad time. I have not removed her reference, in hopes she will be returned and future guests won't be confused by the disconnect. However, she is not currently a feature in my home.) The location is in a quiet, safe, historic district within walking distance to Corktown, the iconic train station, Mexicantown/Mexican Village, the river front, a community garden, large public park and lots of entertainment. The El Club music venue is within 4 blocks. Downtown and COBO are a short distance away (~2.5 miles) and cheap by Lyft or quick by bike. WSU is ~3.5 miles and Ford Hsp ~4.25 miles from the house. Loaner bike available with *refundable* security deposit. Public transportation is accessible either in front of the house or across the street. IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. This is a low-scent house. Products have trained many of us to associate "clean" with aggressive perfumes, which you will not find here. All sheets and towels are washed after each guest use; in fact, if anyone should fault the linens, it's because frequency of washing wears them more quickly than is practical to replace them. If there is any mark or lint or whatever, these are just normal laundry limits and no indication that anything is amiss. If you really feel something is genuinely off, please let me know when I can actually correct it and improve your experience. 2. Totem, my dog, lives here; as a sentient resident, she is not expected to be put away like an object to accommodate guests who are not dog people. She is not allowed in the guest room (although some guests cheat), or on any beds (although sometimes she cheats). Yet, the reality of her existence means that guests are likely to encounter modest amounts of dog hair in passing - this is far less than how much we encounter guest hair, so it seems fair. Totem also takes her watch dog job very seriously, and barks when guests enter and sometimes when they're in the hall. Stepping through the door and greeting her notifies her that you are a guest and not an intruder. We are all thankful for Totem's vigilance, since none of us would want an intruder to get in without enough notice to put our pants on. Totem is a complete lap dog/attention hound, but she cannot be expected to understand complex social relationships and needs clear cues. If you find any bit of dog hair a signal of filth, or you are terrified by 20 lbs of appropriate bark, this may not be a place for you. For a mildly funny commentary on Totem as an Airbnb host, you might want to read "Hostess with the Someness" on my blog, hicdracones dot c-o-m.
The neighborhood is historic and residential, but with immediate access to a vibrant, ethnic commercial corridor, restaurants, bars and other entertainment. Some guests have insisted on calling this area "transitional." I believe that this is because Detroit is unique to most cities and gives many cues that would mean something different in another place. In fact, Hubbard Farms has been remarkably stable even in the worst of the crisis, and Southwest Detroit has had the most contiguous occupancy of any sector, due to the strong Latino base. The entire city of Detroit is "transitional," but this neighborhood is far less so than most. The city requires houses which are vacant for any reason - even if under rehab - to be boarded. Therefore, a boarded house is not necessarily a sign of decay or problems, here. In this neighborhood, there are no vacant houses which are not currently owned and in some stage of renovation. However, in Detroit as a whole, empty houses are normal. It may be considered a form of blight, but it is not *necessarily* the "rough" signal that some assume - it can be, but there are other cues, as well, not just empty houses. Throughout Detroit, property crime is typical of a city, but in this area, more serious crime is very low. On the other hand, it is precisely because Detroit is "transitional" as a whole that so much exciting energy of creation is here: there is literal room and economic feasibility to create new things in a way which is rarely found in highly dense, polished places. Southwest is well-known for its "edge effect," a principle of true diversity which gives it a fairly unique flavor here in Detroit.
  • My hubby and I REALLY loved our time in Detroit. Marlena was a gracious, knowledgeable host. The bed was comfy and she has the best shower in town! We adored the neighborhood. He lil puppy is a barker, but cute and sweet. Thanks, Marlena, for hosting us!

    Carmen2015-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Marlena is sociable and was kind enough to help me prepare for my trip. Her home is nicely decorated and easy to navigate with parking as no issue.

  • This is a great place to stay if you're visiting Detroit and want to be in the Mexican Town / Cork Town neighbourhoods. I felt safe the whole time, and I walked everywhere day and night, although as with any city, keep your wits about you. The apartment was as good looking as it appears to be on the profile - better even, actually. Very comfortable, great shower too. The host was perfect, and really contributed a lot to my overall positive experience in Detroit. An excellent conversationalist, but not overbearing, just friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again. Adorable dog too!

    Stephen2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • She was a great host and very communicative!

    Cole2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Marlena's house is cozy and inviting, and decked with all the amenities you could want. Very communicative. Location is hard to beat, too, as it is right in the heart of Southwest and you can get delicious Mexican fare just a short walk away. Corktown and other neighborhoods are a very quick drive, too. Detroit is a magical place, and Marlena's place is a testament to that!

    Sylvia2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very stylish apartment with a nice clean room and a private half-bathroom. We mostly stayed downtown during the day so can't comment on the local area too much, but it was less than $10 to get an uber downtown. Great value for money and a lovely place to stay!

    Emily2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed at Marlena's place for two nights, and enjoyed our stay. Her house was clean, the location was safe, plenty of street parking, and her dog was playful. Would recommend!

  • Marlena was a great host. The property is located in a nice part of Mexicotown, with Corktown being easily accessible. The room was nice and the house was full of amenities. The house was comfortable and welcoming. Marlena had fantastic recommendations and we had great experiences there.

Bright Micro-loft in the heart of downtown Detroit! Our loft is on the 12th floor of the building and is just walking minutes away from any place downtown! Take the Q line to explore or have coffee at a local spot! Our space is small, but modern, and offers a double bed, full appliances, tv and WiFi. On the second floor, there is a communal space that offers an outdoor terrace, a full kitchen, community lounge, and fitness center. The building also has bike storage, and laundry.
Our place is walking distance from anything downtown! We are blocks away from the Little Caesar’s Arena, Ford Field (Lions), and Comerica Park (Tigers). Enjoy the many restaurants the city has to offer or spend your time visiting the museums in midtown - only a short ride on the Q line. Take a walk to the Detroit riverfront and enjoy the views of Canada or visit the conservatory! If you are in the mood for shopping, you will find many stores just two blocks from our loft! There is so much to do !
  • Spot was perfect and in a great location!

  • This a great place for a couple or some single or a business person. Near everything in downtown Detroit. Would stay here again an a minute next time I come back to Detroit. Also any sporting event this place would be excellent for that as well.

  • This unit is a perfect location for someone looking for a centrally located spot. We went to a concert at Comerica Park and it was literally a 5 min walk. Lots of really great bars and restaurants within walking distance. Parking was a breeze. For $20 bucks it’s all day/overnight parking with in/our privileges. Would definitely recommend this apartment. Owners were awesome as well.

1 bed 1 bathroom private apartment 3rd floor. Brick 2 family flat built in 1918, fully renovated in 2015. Recently featured in Detroit Metro Times Top 10 Airbnbs to check out. A lot of love goes into the building and work continues to improve the guest experience.
Welcome to the Wheel Maker located in the heart of a thriving SW Mexicantown neighborhood just minutes from Downtown, Corktown and Midtown. The Wheel Makers Escape is located on the 3rd floor and is completely private, featuring a full kitchen with a Refrigerator, Gas Stove/Oven, Dishwasher, Built in Microwave and Garbage Disposal. Granite, Custom Tile and Dove Tailed Cabinets throughout. The space also features a Shower, Toilet, Sink/Vanity, Queen Size Bed, Desk, 50 mbs plug in and wireless internet, Full Size Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender and all cooking and eating utensils plus cook ware and spices. (Pots, Pans, bowls, cups, etc) Also includes all Linens (towels, sheets, etc) Laundry is on site in the basement. A covered, shared balcony just off the front door which you can see the backyard and multiple other covered areas to enjoy.
The Wheel Maker building is located in one of Detroit's oldest working class neighborhoods. Located less just a mile from the iconic Michigan Central Station, the Ambassador Bridge that serves as the largest international trade route in North America, and my personal favorite skyline view of both Detroit and Windsor, as you head just 10 mins into Downtown, Corktown and Midtown A thriving & diverse Latin American culture fills the shops on Vernor Hwy (The main business district in the neighborhood) located just 6 blocks away. Southwest/Mexicantown Detroit is one of the strongest areas of the city and is one of the very few places in Detroit where you will find fresh produce and locally owned grocery stores. Much of which sell locally and regionally produced goods. Its the closest neighborhood to downtown Detroit that actually feels like a neighborhood. The area is well populated compared to much of Detroit, and a rich culture of family, faith and entrepreneurship has kept the neighborhood strong through Detroit's hard times. The house is well situated near a walkable area and easy access to the highway so you can zip across town quickly. The neighborhoods relative location to Corktown makes it an affordable, yet attractive area to stay in Detroit just 2 miles from downtown.
  • Very nice little place. A good value for the money in a seemingly safe location. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Detroit is amazing, always. We've come back every year for the past three years, and each visit is a new and wonderful adventure. This is the second time we've stayed at Cole's place, the first time was two years ago and it was just as awesome of a stay the second time around. The apartment is lovely, the location is great, Cole is an awesome host, and his pups are cutest. We'd definitely recommend this listing!

    Alyssa2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cole was really accommodating with our check-in time and also made sure that we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. The place is fantastic and is highly recommended for anyone travelling to Detroit. I can't wait to visit Detroit again and stay at Cole's place and see his dogs again, Missy, Zeus and Pauly. Thanks again Cole!

    Savi2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • For the price, this is a reasonably nice place to stay. The apartment itself is true to the pictures and is nice. The main downside for us is that there is only a small window AC unit to cool the place and because of the layout, the living area is dramatically cooler than the sleeping area. The house that the apartment is located in is a little run down and the entry stairs leading up to the apartment are quite rough. Cole was very responsive and a good host.

Consigliatissimo ! The Cole accommodation is really very nice and well furnished: a warm nest in Detroit! The e-mail communication was great, we tried to disturb him as little as possible and he always replaied in near real time to each question I sent him. But to talk in person with Cole you must know very very well American English as he is not able to speak slowly :-) I also liked the neighborhood, close to the areas of interest of the city, which, unfortunately, this time, we could see very little for lack of time. Moreover near there is a fully stocked Mexican supermarket, very useful if you want to use the kitchen. I reccomend Cole's place !

    Angela2016-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment! Third floor attic room with living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Beautifully remodeled, very comfortable, and lots of street parking. Awesome neighborhood - explore Mexicantown's restaurants, public murals, grocery stores, and more! Cole is a great host, and this place is right off the freeway - easy to get to and a smooth stay.

Clean, stylish space - ideal for a single traveler or a couple exploring Detroit! Corktown is a cozy, quiet and friendly neighborhood and our historic home is located just a few minutes away from the best bars, restaurants and coffee shop in the city. Our charming cottage built in 1900 has original wood floors and exposed beams, a queen sized bed, all new appliances and a large backyard with a view of downtown - giving you a true feeling of a home away from home.
Guests have access to the entire cottage and spacious backyard.
Our cottage is in the oldest established neighborhood in Detroit. It’s a super friendly community and is very walkable with lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
  • The cottage was super cute and our hosts were extremely helpful in finding things to do in the neighborhood! Would definitely recommend and stay again next time we’re in Detroit!

  • I had so much fun enjoying my stay in the corktown neighborhood of Detroit. This part of the city is very quiet and neighborhoody. I like to walk, so I was happy that I could walk to nearby restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. I used the city bike share to bike downtown, before heading to the cobo center, which is also walkable from their place. Very charming house, and charming part of the city. Would stay here again. Everyone in Detroit is very friendly. small tip: There was no shampoo/conditioner; need to provide your own.

Vince had a lovely home. It is a very welcoming house and it is swanky in its decor. There were a few beers and bottled water left in the fridge for us when we got here and we were sure to pay it forward for the next guest. The location is conveniently a five minute drive to downtown royal oak and in a quiet safe neighborhood. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to visit the area.
