Tour a Croatian artist's historic workshop and art gallery

I’m an artist who works in recycled materials, and I invite you to visit the gallery and studio where I create sculptures and paintings inspired by Dubrovnik’s maritime history. • We’ll meet at the iconic Jesuit Stairs, one of Dubrovnik’s most beautiful Baroque landmarks, and walk to my nearby studio. • I’ll personally introduce myself and share about my work before Marijana, who has worked alongside me since her youth, will guide you through the workshop where I build large ships out of everyday objects, a form of art I call “distorted realism.” • You’ll then stroll through the Old Town to my gallery to see my collection of paintings inspired by Dubrovnik’s maritime heritage. The gallery itself offers one of the best views in town. You’ll get the chance to talk with Marijana and me about the creative process, learn more about Dubrovnik’s close connection to the sea, and leave with a postcard featuring photos of my work.

Uncover the stories of socialist Croatia by taking a curator-guided tour through the Red History Museum, an immersive museum near the Port of Dubrovnik. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of what life felt like in the former Yugoslavia under the communist regime, and the reasons behind its collapse that led to the Homeland War. • As I guide you through the museum’s Socialism in Theory section, I’ll explain about the origins of Marxist thought and the workers’ movements it inspired around the world. • Next, we’ll step into a replica of a typical Yugoslav apartment, where we’ll talk about how the regime shaped everyday life from the 1950s through the 1990s. You’ll also encounter personal stories and artifacts contributed by people from all over Croatia. • To wrap up, we’ll gather in the Museum Bar for a discussion of the legacy of socialism on Croatia’s identity, culture, and politics today. You’ll gain a much deeper understanding about this fascinating era and take away a small themed souvenir to remind you of your visit.

Indeed, it has many well-known panoramic places like Porporela and Banje beach, but also some more hidden interesting streets like Sveta Marija, Karmen, and Peline. During this experience, we will look for the most artistic views that will become the perfect set of our shootings! It doesn't matter if you are an expert photographer, a photography lover, an Instagram maniac or just a traveler - we will have fun and I am sure you learn new photo techniques! You will be able to test your skills taking pics with your own camera or mobile phone, otherwise, I can take pictures of you! Dubrovnik Early Bird Walking Tour Let us use the first light of the sun for a walking tour in Dubrovnik. We will walk through the maze of narrow streets while the town is still sleeping and you will experience "real" Dubrovnik without the usual crowds. The tour starts at the main entrance gate next to Amerling fountain. We start walking over the shiny main street that you can only see "empty" early in the morning and get the real feel of its beauty. By using hidden corners of the old town you will explore history, legends and curiosities. On our walk you will see all main monuments and have an introduction for your stay in Dubrovnik that will help you to plan your days and take the best out of it. Experience todays life of the citizens living in the old town, feel the spirit of the past and dive into an unforgettable experience by joining us from the establishment of Dubrovnik until the collapse of Yugoslavia and countries independency. Other things to note Since it's an early tour, I suggest bringing a bottle of water with you. On the meeting place, which is Amerling fountain, outside of the city walls. We start with relaxed 1h walk through the Old Town where you will hear about the city’s rich history and get a glimpse into daily life. We will share stories that go beyond the usual tourists facts, giving you insight into what it’s really like to live in Dubrovnik. We'll take a walk through Dubrovnik's history while re-living its most glorious, as well as it's darkest times. The tour starts at Pile gate where we'll emerge into this millennia-long story, starting with the arrival of the very first inhabitants. From their humble beginnings to the making of the City walls, you'll get a full understanding of the birth of Dubrovnik through chronological stories! In the Old town itself, we'll get to know the great Republic of Ragusa up-close and personal. We're going to get into the most important aspects of its past - religious, political and public - speaking of subjects such as: social awareness of the Government, natural disasters, progressive decisions, inventions and Ragusa's substantial downfall thanks to Napoleon himself! Not to dwell too much in the distant past, we'll also talk about more present times - from the Yugoslavian war in 1991, to the local life today in the Old town, in Dubrovnik and in Croatia, too. My stories and your questions will paint a picture of a highly advanced, medieval city-state that can still be found in the modern streets we walk on. Luckily, we know just where to find it :)

Dubrovnik offers many activities, but I am the first person who decided to offer a view of the city from a different perspective: exploring the dark side of it! This tour is the only ghost tour in Dubrovnik and you most certainly won't find anything remotely similar anywhere else in the city! This tour takes you into the lesser known suburb of the Old City (for the tour inside the old city check out my Dark tales of the Old Town tour). We will first meet at Boninovo, a part of Dubrovnik that was always veiled in darkness. There, you will hear about the turbulent history of the city's main cemetery and nearby old palaces. Following, we will explore the enchanting and evergreen Gradac park which, in the distant past, was one of the most notorious places in the city. Then we will continue through a labyrinth of old streets in Pile area and then we will end in front of the Pile gate. All along the way, we are going to see different historical sites, some of them reputed to be haunted, some of them known for other dark tales or legends. This is a fully-narrated walk, so expect to hear many stories, followed by the atmospheric surrounding of the evening walk through some lesser known parts of Dubrovnik. Other things to note! This walk is not wheelchair accessible and is not recommended for persons with walking disabilities. Also, it is not recommended for baby strollers.

Our meeting point is in front of the Large Onofrios fountain. We will enter the city walls- defensive stone walls surrounding the city. With numerous additions and modifications throughout their history, they have been considered to be amongst the great fortification systems of the Middle Ages, as they were never breached by a hostile army during this time period. In 1979, the old city of Dubrovnik, which includes a substantial portion of the old walls of Dubrovnik, joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. We will show you all important monuments inside The Old Town and best locations to get best photos of Dubrovnik, we will hang out with local cats and see colorful narrow streets. I hope you will experience Dubrovnik as a local and fall in love with its hidden gems and terracotta roofs. ***Please be aware that there is extra cost for entrance to the City walls-250 kn per ticket, so I suggest buying DUBROVNIK CARD (1,3,7 days card) instead of single walls ticket. The best time to start is early morning about 7.00am to avoid crowds. Our meeting point will be at Pile gate. From there we start our shooting route to Pile area where is fabulous view and background at Lovrijenac fortress . After there we will enter the Old city and walk through the streets and the most beautiful locations and magical spots and capture the photos (Main street Stradun, Rector's palace, St. Blasius Church, Sponza, Old Harbour, Ploče gate, hidden streets etc.), finishing with beautiful background panorama of Old Town near to Banje beach.
