We had a comfortable overnight stay at the cottage. It is private with a lovely view of a dam with plenty space to stretch your legs after a day in the car. The stoep has a small gate which is perfect for containing toddlers.

Wonderful place close to nature. Delicious, Healthy breakfast. Christa is a star. The listing said wifi but it was not functional in Kernelia for most of our stay. T The wonderful bird life soothed our pain of not video chatting with our grand children overseas.

Thank you Narine for everything! This spot is absolutely GORGEOUS, we were completely in awe as we arrived during sunset and woke up to the first light touching the tips of the mountains, truly blown away by the beauty of this little gem of a place. The dam was extremely beautiful and refreshing to swim in even in the middle of winter! We will definitely be returning!

If you’ve stumbled upon Die Letterhuis and are wondering whether to book—stop thinking and just do it. You will not regret it. This is one of those rare places where every detail has been so carefully and thoughtfully considered, creating a truly special stay. The house itself is beautifully curated, blending character, comfort, and an incredible sense of place. From the perfectly appointed interiors to the deeply comfortable beds, every element has been designed with the guest’s best experience in mind. Adding to the magic is Heleen’s stunning calligraphy, which is woven throughout the house. It’s more than just decoration—it’s a true labour of love, an artistic touch that deepens the already enchanting atmosphere of Die Letterhuis. The setting is pure magic—an oasis of stillness and vast Karoo beauty. And to top it all off, Heleen and her husband are exceptionally kind and welcoming. We will definitely return, this was an unforgettable experience!

One of the best airbnbs I have ever booked. We will definitely come back for a longer stay. Smith and Memory were amazing. And we definitely felt so spoilt having such a beautiful slice of the earth all to ourselves.

The best romantic and peaceful break away! The place was actually better than the photos! we took our dogs along and this was sò enjoyable. Absolutely no problems at all. The cottage is well 20min drive on gravel, but is do-able with a normal car. So secluded and quiet in the heart of the mountains. Only 2 cottages so it was very private... it felt like we owned our own piece of mountains! We swam in the nearby dams and hiked on the trails surrounding the area. Would definitely love to stay there again and again. We also thought of it as the best honeymoon venue that we have ever came across. Everything was breathtaking and was like we walked into a magazine!! definitely 11 out of 10!! 🙌

We had a peaceful relaxing weekend at the Old School House, its very charming, full of character, and comfortable. The surroundings and views of the mountains are beautiful, we had a walk down to the river which also very charming.

Stay here! Absolutely beautiful location, Elanda was SO helpful and welcoming, even after we arrived later than expected. The house has everything you need and lots of space. I would 100% come back and recommend!

This place is a hidden gem. On the road to Kango caves this small slice of paradise is one of the most beautiful locations I’ve ever visited in the Karoo. All of the accommodations are on the Waters edge with a swipe of beautiful green grass that is incredibly well-maintained. The river is stunning with hammocks and water activities to keep you busy. The staff are fabulous, being kind, courteous and helpful at every opportunity. I visited lots of places and our visited lots of places many times this is going to be one of those places I visit again and again.
