Eyvindartunga farm cottage - renewable energy

This charming family cottage is close to many of the natural wonders in the South of Iceland, the "Golden Circle". Like many old traditional farms in Iceland, Eyvindartunga is a sheep farm. Fourth generation lives on the farm, with ewes who roam freely with their lambs during summer. Since the year 1929 we have been harnessing the river Sandá, producing now annually ca. 5 GWh of electrical energy for both the farm itself and the nearby area, including the nearby village Laugarvatn.

Your visit to Iceland will be a brease with this house as basecamp. This unike propety is clouse to evrything on the south coust . The "Old house" is in the center of evrything on Southwest part of Iceland. You have Geysir and Gullfoss about 40min away, the Seacret lagoon 10min and Friðheimar the tomato farm 35min away. The national park Þingvellir is about 45min from us also. Mt.Hekla is in plain sight and the river Hvítá, glaiserriver from the waterfall Gullfoss runs by the house.

Austurey - Lakefront Villa

The property is a modern 4-bedroom villa on the bank of lake Apavatn & river Hólaá. Kayaks, fishing poles & permits included for guests. (Fishing is only permitted during summer). The house is 184 m2, with a fully equipped kitchen, a terrace with a hot tub & a seating area facing the lake. It includes free WiFI, smartTV´s, sauna, washing machine & dryer. It is perfectly situated in the Golden Circle. It is 10 km from the town Laugarvatn where there are restaurants & Fontana Spa.

The house was built to reflect the Icelandic landscape and complement the small vegetation of moss and trees in the old lava-field. Our newly renovated cottage is in the centre of the golden circle overlooking the Tungufljót river. There are spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers from the house. The house is a perfect base from which to explore the fantastic sights the golden circle and the surrounding area has to offer. All the main attractions such as Geysir (less than 10 mins drive), Gullfoss (under 20 min) and Thingvellir (about 40 min) are easy to get to from the cottage.

The house has a small kitchen, double bed (queen size) and a bathroom with shower. There is a platform in front of the guesthouse with a heater and comfortable chairs . Guests will have access to hot tub and a outdoor barbeque.
