Footbridge Farm Cabin

Footbridge Farm is a quiet country get-away located on 90 wooded acres, 15 miles NE of Decorah. We are close to the mouth of Canoe Creek, the Upper Iowa River and adjacent to state DNR land. The cozy owner-built cabin has an open ceiling with exposed beams and rafters giving a sense of spaciousness. Local stone was used in the exterior walls and the floor-to-ceiling fire back behind the wood-burning stove. The floors are oak and slate. Detailed craftsmanship can be found throughout the cabin.

You can tour the bluffs, go UTV riding or go for a walk on the many walking trails along the Yellow River and Effigy Mounds. The loft homes a queen sized bed and 2 double beds. When you arrive at our 16 acre farmstead and enter the Guest Barn, you'll notice the construction materials which were salvaged from a nearby barn and corncrib. The timbers from these buildings were torn down, moved to our farm and rebuilt into a smaller “new” barn. It truly represents a real farm experience you can feel. While here, you'll slow down and enjoy the tranquility. Walk around the farm, make friends with a cow, watch barn kitties play, while gazing across the vast farm vistas.

Relax with the whole family at this rural retreat on a gravel road. Its convenient location lets you explore the driftless area. You may see wildlife and birds, insects and wildflowers. There could also be mud, dust or snow because the Midwest weather is always changing. It is cozy and comfortable in this farmhouse nestled in an oak grove. If you love the outdoors and Iowa, this place is for you! Pets are welcome, maximum of two with pet fee paid at booking.

This completely remodeled barn is nestled among the trees in beautiful northeast Iowa. Our goal was to both, create a space to escape the hustle and bustle of life and have the perfect place to rest after a day of hiking, fishing, or kayaking. Located within a few miles from not only some of the best trout streams in the area but also the beautiful Upper Iowa River.
